Well Done, Mr. President! Wreath-Laying Ceremony at Ground Zero

Posted: May 5, 2011

I've never wanted to visit Ground Zero, even when I was nearby, but I'm glad the President went there. At first I wondered why he was going and what he hoped to achieve. Now I'm glad he went. It was a moving ceremony that paid respect appropriately. Well done, Mr. President! You make me proud.

This lovely post says it all. Thanks. - nm

OMG. Did Michelle Really Say This At A Naturalization Ceremony? (sm)Dec 19, 2014
Yes, she really, really did.  You can check out Snopes if you like and see how they spin it, (they tell you what she really MEANT)  but this is what the woman SAID.   She should be ashamed of herself.  I'm ashamed. Harvard educated First Lady Michelle Obama reminded attendees of a naturalization ceremony Wednesday that the Founding Fathers weren't born in America. The ceremony for 50 new U.S. citizens was held at the  National Archives in Washington, D.C. ...

Clinton Signed NDA Laying Out Penalties For MishandlingNov 06, 2015
Dem presidential candidate and top aides signed NDAs warning against 'negligent handling' of classified information. As the nation's chief diplomat, Hillary Clinton was responsible for ascertaining whether information in her possession was classified and acknowledged that "negligent handling" of that information could jeopardize national security, according to a copy of an agreement she signed upon taking the job. A day after assuming office as secretary of state, Clinton ...

Ground Beef TrickJan 26, 2012
If anyone has purchased ground beef lately, you know the price is skyrocketing and 1 lb of ground beef doesn't go very far to feed a family of 4.   I buy it fairly lean (so they claim on the package but still a lot of grease).   If I'm making a meatloaf, I would normally toss a bit of rolled oats in to fill and make the ground beef go a little further.   However, tonight was taco night and as I was preparing the beef, an idea hit me.  Can't really disguise oat ...

Update On The Ground Zero MosqueJul 08, 2011
The original and controversial Imam Faisel Rauf and developer Sharif El Gamar parted ways awhile back. A new imam was brought on board but he didn't last long after making some rather embarrassing and provocative statements regarding homosexuality and Islam. [Abdallah] Adhami, 44, said being gay was a 'painful trial' which comes as a result of past trauma. He said: 'An enormously overwhelming percentage of people struggle with homosexual feeling because of some form o ...

Islam Plants Flag Of Victory At Ground ZeroAug 04, 2010
The world should know that the ‘Cordoba Initiative,’ the New York City based organization desiring to construct a massive Islamic house of prayer at ‘Ground Zero,’ has posted on its website, a peculiar and disingenuous statement indicating the desire to bring back the atmosphere of, “interfaith tolerance and respect that we have longed for since Muslims, Christians and Jews lived together in harmony and prosperity eight hundred years ago.” I point ...

AP Interview: Iraq Premier Nixes US Ground TroopsSep 18, 2014
Oh, look. The new leader of Iraq does not want and will not allow ground troops from other countries in Iraq. How can we continue to blame Obama for this the same way he is blamed for Bush's Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) to remove all ground troops from Iraq by 12/31/2011? According to the SOFA signed by Bush in 2008, a system had to be established for Iraqi approval of every single US mission. Every single time that US troops leave their bases, it has to be cleared by the Iraqis. Accor ...

Judge Seeks Middle Ground In Fast And Furious LawsuitJul 08, 2014
5/5/14: A federal judge said Thursday she’s inclined to split the difference between Congress and the White House in a lawsuit stemming from President Barack Obama’s decision to shield some Justice Department records from a House probe into the flawed gunrunning investigation known as Operation Fast and Furious. Last year, the Obama administration asked Jackson to throw out the lawsuit, arguing that the dispute was not an appropriate one to be resolved by the courts. She ruled to t ...

Obamacare Meltdown Has Arrived. Tennessee Is Ground Zero For Obamacare'sOct 07, 2016
last month the state insurance commissioner, Julie Mix McPeak, approved premium increases of up to 62% in a bid to save the exchange set up under the Affordable Care Act. “I would characterize the exchange market in Tennessee as very near collapse,” she said. Then last week BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee announced it would leave three of the state’s largest exchange markets—Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville. “We have experienced losses approaching $500 million over the course of ...

Whatever Happened To "No Troops On The Ground"Oct 31, 2015
Obama is sending a "small" contingent of 30-50 Special Forces troops to Iraq and Syria.Did he ever pull the other 3500 to 5000 troops out?  You don't hear about them anymore. In June of last year, he sent 1500, which brought the number up to 2900 to Iraq. Then in June of this year, he supposedly sent another 450.  Isn't it funny that he kept saying there would be no troops on the ground year after year, month after month through his presidency, yet keeps putting troops on th ...

The President SaysFeb 22, 2017
Part of what he says is tax cuts will help do that.  We have seen through decades that this has not created jobs and merely put more money in the pockets of the wealthy.  We have a wage gap that is out of this world.  I understand businesses are in business to make money, but there was a time when employers shared the wealth with their employees while still making a good profit themselves, and those times seem to have disappeared.   What things could he do to ensure that the ...
