We have only just begun to fight

Posted: Mar 23, 2010

The American people spoke decisively against a big government, high tax, Washington knows best, pro-trial lawyer centralized bureaucratic health system.

In every recent poll the vast majority of Americans opposed this monstrosity.

Speaker Pelosi knew the country was against the bill. That is why she kept her members trapped in Washington and forced a vote on Sunday. She knew if she let the members go home their constituents would convince them to vote no.

The Obama-Pelosi-Reid machine combined the radicalism of Alinsky, the corruption of Springfield and the machine power politics of Chicago.

Sunday was a pressured, bought, intimidated vote worthy of Hugo Chavez but unworthy of the United States of America.

It is hard to imagine how much pressure they brought to bear on Congressman Stupak (D-Mich.) to get him to accept a cynical, phony, clearly illegal and unconstitutional executive order on abortion. The ruthlessness and inhumanity of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid machine was most clearly on display in their public humiliation of Stupak.

The real principles of the machine were articulated by Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings who was impeached and removed from the bench as a federal judge, before being elected to the House when he said, "There ain't no rules here, we're trying to accomplish something. . . .All this talk about rules. . . .When the deal goes down . . . we make 'em up as we go along."

It is hard for the American people to believe their leaders on the left are this bad.

They are.

The American people will not allow a corrupt machine to dictate their future.

Together we will pledge to repeal this bill and start over.

Together we will prove that this will not stand.

2010 and 2012 will be among the most important elections in American history. These elections will allow us to save America from a left-wing machine of unparalleled corruption arrogance and cynicism.

Sunday was one more step in the fight against a "Washington knows best" and "Washington should run everything" attitude.

Let us turn now to the Senate to continue this fight for real reform, for real self government, and for policies that create jobs, improve health outcomes, and increase freedom.

The idea that the minority party (FYI - that would be the GOP) represents the "will of the people" (not some of the people, but "the people") is the seedling of a totalitarian mindset.

The majority, those who are intelligent enough to know HCR was the right thing to do (like Civil Rights), the factually informed people who didn't fall for the lies and obstructionism dished out by the GOP -- that's who speaks for me . . . Thank God!!

that the majority is AGAINST this bill and have been. It is no secret, it is reflected in every poll that has been taken and yet Pelosi and Obama chose not to listen to the American people. That's right, the American people, not just pubs, not just crats, but all. I am a progressive, I voted for Obama, I am for healthcare reform but not this bill and have made it known in every way possible yet like millions of other Americans, I was ignored. I promise you that I will not be ignored in November 2010 or in November 2012!!
MSNBC had that? You mean they are starting to come around - and telling the real news?

I might start listening to them again. Sick of the crew on Fox news. It's like watching a bunch of puritans. I can't stand most of them. And I'm really sick of seeing Obama and Pelosi's face on TV every 5 minutes. I need real news without seeing their nauseating mugs every time I turn around.

such as elimination of pre-existing conditions exclusions, life-time caps, out of pocket expenses, and the medicare donut hole, increased accessibility to health care insurance, provision of competitive pricing market via the health exchange, lifting anti-trust exclusions for health insurers and increased regulation, just to name a few, guess what happens? The percentages suddenly flip flop in favor of majority support.

Finally, last time I checked, a late Fbruary poll showed overwhelming support for a public option...67%.

When provided with all the information about this more recent poll, the claim you are making tends heavily toward the bogus.

I just posted the message above that I can't believe MSNBC actually posted the truth (just forgot to finish my message). I am not a progressive, but I don't consider myself a conservative or a liberal, except that I am conservative on some issues and liberal on other issues. I have not found any party that would describe me. Guess I'm just a misfit. I am listening to a lot of people like you. They voted for Obama (I did too). We all wanted health care reform. There were so many good ideas being discussed, but once again the politicians have shown they are not listening to their constituents. They made this into a political party issue rather than a health issue. They didn't make it about the people, they made it about party line, bribes, and deals. I don't like what I saw at all going on and this is the second time I have been truly disgusted about politics (the first is when the passed the spendusmore bill. The closed door and Air Force one deals, back room payoffs, Louisina purchase, airport deals, etc, etc, etc was just the most foul and disgusting display of corrupt Chicago-style politics. Not letting politicians go home because if they did Pelosi knew they'd be talking to their constituents and would vote no on the bill. The POTUS ridiculing those he knows were going to vote no, and brain washing really got to them, and they caved and showed they do not care about what the population of America wanted. I wish our politicians would develop a back bone and tell her (Pelosi) to take a flying leap and that she does not control them. Neither does Reid or Obama. They should tell them I am working for the people in my districts/states that voted for me and doing the job they want me to do, and that is why they are voting against the bill. But no they sold their soul and deficated on the people they are working for.

You are so right on. The American people were ignored. The only way we can show a clear message is November. We can then tell them when they go against the will of the people they will be fired.

The string went off the board, but I could read your answer and you didn't answer the question. The question is, if allowed an opt-out, what would we do with folks who choose not to purchase insurance then end up with a medical situation that causes them to go broke and they are unable to work and pay their bills? In other words, what to do with folks who choose not to purchase insurance and would end up costing the taxpayers.

You didn't even come close to answering the question.

P.S. As an aside to your previous post, hospitals and physicians are not in the business of lending money and what if everyone chose to go without insurance?

Edit: I know that all you want is to be able to be uninsured, to be sure that none of your money will help anyone else, and to know that nothing will ever happen to you that you cannot pay for because you can control your health, but you see, there are things that can happen, and someone has to pay for you if you cannot pay for yourself. That's not fair either. I'm going to leave you be because I know you have no plausible answer. Good luck to you. I wish you continued good health and happiness. Sincerely.

Over 80% of the American people living in this country - is who the OP is referring to

[ In Reply To ..]
You are part of the 20% who are for it. That is not the majority of America and that is reality. Just because a few people on this board are for it does not mean the whole country is for it. I'm seeing more people on this board against it including a lot of democrats. The reality is that politicians were bought and paid for and bribed to change their votes. It's not a a pretty sight, but that is reality too. But you don't care anymore because you got your way. You don't really care about other people having health insurance or not having health insurance. It's all politics, and which side wins.

And that is what we have to remember. Politicians in DC stopped working for the American people a long time ago. They now work for themselves with backroom closed door deals. But it all doesn't matter. The only thing that now matters is November.

There's a reason they update polls. People change their opinions as they gain more info or situations change (whatever the case may be). A poll that was taken in March 2009 about healthcare issues in general (with no specific plan referenced) is not the same as a poll taken recently that would reflect the public's response to a specific bill.

Obama when campaigning for president made it very clear that he intended to try to pass universal healthcare. He won by a landslide. "The American people" have already spoken.

What a lot of those polls you refer to don't tell you is that a lot of us on the left didn't like the current bill because it didn't include a public option; however, what has passed is better than nothing.

As far as further elections go, you might want to hold onto your hat, because things will more than likely be swinging even farther to the left.

I dont think so. Now that the IRS will be involved in our lives - once a month, well, lets just say

which makes this whole thing so unconstitutional. Auto insurance protects us from another terrible driver every time we get in our car. We can't control how other people drive. When I use my car I am protected, hopefully. Health insurance is for care of my body when or if I need my body cared for and, even then, I decide if I want care of not. I'm going to get in my car and drive because some of my destinations are too far to walk to. Auto insurance can be justified. Health insurance can not. I haven't seen a doctor in almost 22 years by my choice. For one reason, I keep myself healthy and care is still a choice in this country. So far (if our luck holds out), the Gestapo don't march up to our door and handcuff us and take us in for exams and tests. Right now, they are just going to strong-arm our bank accounts. At the present time, care is still a choice as Americans that we still get to make for ourselves. If you don't use your health insurance, why should you be forced to buy it? You shouldn't. Let it be offered at a low price to those who feel they have no control over their health or allow us the freedom to pay for care at our own expense. That's the American way. Not the Obama strong-arm way. I fear this is going to get ugly because we have a spoiled little boy for a president. I'm glad I didn't vote for the spoiled brat.
I agree you, but the main problem is - NO MORE FREEDOM IN THE UNITED STATES
