after he jumped on the bandwagon, filled to capacity, with fellow RINOs calling for Akin's resignation. I guess Brown's lock-step misstep threatens to push Warren out of the statistical-tie corral and into the forefront (confound, that woman!). The strategy there had been for Brown to keep his mouth shut on those troublesome "issues" after the phoney outrage over the Cherokee heritage scandal failed to move the numbers.
Do I detect another crack in the GOP's subterranean fractious factions, or just a deepening in the pre-existing cavernous rift? No one more qualified to stir that pot than Tony Perkins. Guess FRC will be pouring more funds into the Missouri race, trying to compensate for monies other PACs, such as American Crossroads, plan to withhold "for now." Mr. Perkins was evidently not impressed by Mitch Mcconnell's declaration that the apology "isn't good enough."
Chop-chop, Senator Brown. The family hate group has spoken.
;I have no interest in revisiting witch hunts and trumped up sex scandals from 20+ years ago, or, simply stated, the previous century. You'd be wrong to think I play fetch with posters who order me to "Google it."
What I do remember is Linda Tripp had an arrest record of some kind (stealing I believe it was) and struck a deal to avoid a wire tap indictment. She made out like a bandit in a lawsuit over invasion of privacy (LOL) that netted her more than half a million. Jones got close to a million after her stuff was dismissed since she couldn't prove it and Flowers cashed in on the affair, though I don't recall the exact 5-figure amount. After that, I sort of glazed over when the parade of other women lined up behind them.
I have a bit more respect for Monica Lewinsky. I don't blame her for anything, especially not for finding the president appealing. She was credible and did not give off golddigger vibes. I think her best statement came the moment her testimony was concluded: "I hate Linda Tripp."
Here's the thing. I'm no fan of ADULTery. I think it stinks. I also think it happens all the time between two equally irresponsible grown-ups who make bad decisions regarding their PRIVATE lives, but who go into the arrangement with their eyes wide open, knowing full well what the ultimate consequences may be. That goes for the woman as well as the man. Adultery is an equal opportunity downer, a behavior that afflicts everyone from the penniless to the most powerful. I also think it has absolutely NO BEARING whatsoever on a person's ability to perform their job. Bill Clinton was elected to office for his leadership skills, not for what kind of a husband he was.
What happened between him and those women is between him and his wife and is none of my business, just as what goes on in my bedroom is none of the government's business. I think that's a fair deal. How you feel about it is your business and really does not affect how I perceive Clinton's legacy one iota.
I was a consenting adult when Ted Kennedy made his mistakes. I still believe he was a great Senator, and a great American. Again, I don't play fetch with posters who give me the "Google it" command.
I think it's time to return to the 21st century now and discuss the rape issue in earnest, meaning just how many thousands of ways the GOP is trying to screw women. But before doing so, I thought you might need to be reminded of what a consenting adult looks like.
