Do you know what is going on with the economy, unemployment, housing market, jobs going overseas, bankers and politicians enriching themselves while we are the ones having to pay, illegal immigration, seizure of weapons, etc, etc, etc. It sounds like you do not live here with this going on if you are unaware of it.

Wish I could tell you better news from here in the US. Unfortunately the economy is getting worse. Americans on food stamps has risen to all time new high of 47.71 million. To put that in perspective back in the 1970s 1 in 50 people were on food stamps. Now in 2013 1 in every 6.5 Americans are on food stamps.

Since the election of 2012 dozens of large companies have announced major layoffs. More than 100,000 people have been laid off since November.

Obamacare (or better referred to as Obamadontcare) is forcing small business to replace full time workers with part time workers.

The economy is so bad that families are having to go into debt just to pay their living expenses.

Food banks are reporting that more needy families than ever are showing up needing food.

So many cities that used to be booming, like Detroit, are filing for bankruptcy. Seems the only ones prospering in this time is Obama, the politicians, and his uber rich and wall street buddies.

Homelessness is on the rise.

We've seen the disaster of Obamadontcare, bailouts that didn't do anything to stimulate our economy as we were told would happen, but instead the money went to foreign companies, politicians, and wall streets pockets, and then the disastrous cash for clunkers.

Unemployment is on the rise, but the government won't tell the people of the country how bad it is. They only report the numbers of people filing and even then try and pad it. Known unemployment rate right now is at 9%, but most states unemployment is well over 10%.

Economists are saying that our economy is the worse its been since the great depression after WWII. Overall people are not only worried at how bad the economy is, but at the alarming rate that it is speeding up. 63% agree the economy is getting worse. Americans are struggling with job security (if they have a job), too much debt, pay raises that are not keep up with the rising costs of the economy. Prices at the grocery stores and gas stations are continuing to rise.

It's very sad to see. So many people had hopes for this young senator running for President. Most didn't care that he was a Muslim or even that he couldn't prove he was born in this country. They didn't want another republican in. Unfortunately a lot of people have learned that they need to think before they vote. Many did not weigh in what it would mean to vote in someone who did not have any experience. Many were too taken with it would be really cool to vote for someone of color. Then there was the intimidation and voter fraud, but here in the US that goes with every election on both sides.

I'm not sure when you'll be returning to the states, but I hope by that time we'll actually get some people in who know how to fix the economy and repair the damage this administration has done. If they thought it was bad under President Bush, it has only gotten worse by about 10 times with Obama.

It's sad to see, but I have hopes for a better time once this administration is done. I think many have learned their lesson. Don't let the people on this board get you too down. Despite many posts here in support of the corruption and failing economy they don't represent most of the country, and that gives me hope too.

Hope that has helped bring you up to date on what's been happening since you are not here. Many facts can be found on the internet. You'll need to stay away from the main stream media (or as many refer to it lame stream media). Most of us learn about what is going on through alternative news sites. Independent sites are the best way to get to the truth.

I have an older brother who has an IQ of 89... just below average. All his life he has worked minimum wage jobs.. and he is the only one in our family who is a republican. He has never had health insurance... and sees no reason why he needs it... because after all OUR mother pays all his medical bills. He cannot conceive of someone not having someone to pay their health bills.. and thats how I imagine most people who are against national health insurance are.. they have it and could care less about those who don't but they don't realize that for some people it was not affordable or available.. Now maybe I am wrong..but I doubt it. And my brother? He would be dead if not for my mother footing the bill.. and I guess he is assuming that she will be around forever to keep footing it.
