You never see them move to Iraq or Sudan, though.

They just come here and tear apart America. They would get shot, tortured, beheaded, imprisoned in other countries for the trash talk they direct to American and Americans.

Instead of improving their own morals, they want to tear down the morals and traditions of America to the bottom feeders that they are.

I see absolutely nothing President Obama has done that would indicate he hates America. In fact, I think he has sacrificed quite a bit to run the playground the Republicans have created.

A lot of what people want to believe are lies are actually the truths.

That's what makes this country a great place. Freedom of speech. When people find out the truth they are allowed to say so.

And on the other hand we can say the democrats "trash talk" republicans and get away with it. Would you not condone prison, beheading and torture of the democrats doing the trash talk or is it only okay for anyone not democrat.

My motivation is typically the former, to be thought provoking. However, if our motivation is clearly the latter, well, sometimes we get what we asked for and much more. However, sometimes the type of "provocation" is in the eye of the beholder.

Narrative tweaking now is going to - overdrive, I can't believe

[ In Reply To ..]

Half-truth versus completely false - interesting question

[ In Reply To ..]
At least we now have the opportunity for 1/2 truth perspective. At many times in our history, as has been proven over and over again, we have been fed lies to justify actions, only to later find out the truth.

I think this is why things seem so disjointed. The narrative is not as polished and as well orchestrated and hidden as before, thus it appears choppy and as though leaders are not making well thought out plans. It is really just because they can't hide the facts and smooth over the stories before we become aware.

The White House Correspondents' Dinner has never been known for its political correctness, regardless of which POTUS was the host and what their political affiliation happened to be.

I do not think that making a joke about the bigots at the pizza place in Indiana or the ever-shrinking Fox News crowd alienated anywhere near "half" the country, LOL, and probably less than one third of the country.

The "bigots" at the Indiana place? So you're okay with - a US president making fun

Yes, extremist Christians and extremist Muslims are more alike than they care to admit, but - I personally don't use the word bigot
[ In Reply To ..]
Not all Christians and Muslims snub gays, only extremist Christians and extremist Muslims. They tend to overly focus on sexual morality, virtually ignoring other types of immorality, except to actually employ those other types of immorality during some sort of "holy war", which only exists in their own minds.

And if you respond to the holy war tactics, both extremist groups will consider it "proof" of their "persecution" and the need for a "holy war", reversing the order of events, instead of ever realizing that neither the bible nor the Qu'ran ever said to do evil in the name of greater good, nor the fact that others' social response to them is nothing more than public display of bad manners and social consequence and that they created their own self-fulfilling prophecy.

Sorry to see some things are apparently devolving into name-calling and becoming so heated for some again, but have a good rest of your weekend anyway, everyone:)
All groups of people have varying degrees, extremes on each end, - but just trying to have a debate
[ In Reply To ..]
for a Christian (on TV) usually ends up being an ambush. For instance, if you're anti-gay it doesn't mean you hate the person, you just don't agree with the behavior, but you're automatically labeled an anti-gay hate group. I don't like the behavior of promiscuity or extra-marital affairs, but I don't hate the person.

Anyway, you have a great weekend too.
True, but the media only presents worst case scenarios and bad behavior is encouraged for ratings - Commenter you're replying to
[ In Reply To ..]
The worst case scenarios we see on the news or talk programs are rarely reality, even some news and events are staged. We cannot believe everything we see on TV, but most don't realize it. This is also why I refuse to watch so-called "reality TV," I consider it glorifying one of the most immoral types of programming ever created, with people now emulating the nasty behavior over money in the workplace and elsewhere, literally turning fantasy into "reality."

As for debate, I consider it all debate, different aspects presented in the thread, and I'm glad we still live in a country that allows freedom of speech, even dissenting opinion. As for my comment, I was just kind of dumping out the whole bag of goodies I found in this thread and responding to several key points at once, rather than respond to each point individually, but sorry I kinda singled one out there to reply to.

I understand, appreciate and respect the difference in participation versus service, as well as the ideology of "reject the sin but not the sinner", but such rejection is commanded to be done with love, not rudeness, and definitely not to be done as casting stones of judgment at other as if without sin themselves.

Sounds like you get it, but I don't think many others understand the difference. Hope things are sunny and warm where you are, too:)

It's supposed to be in the 70's here (Midwest) and I'm going to mow my grass.

Bye. Enjoy the day.
I like those too! But the real question is, who's betting - on "Far Right" in the derby today?
[ In Reply To ..]
I like those shows too! Also "Prospectors" and "Love It or List It". Make that the original 'Love it or List It" hosts, Hillary and David. Though still staged in part, it's friendly, nonadversarial competition and they give great ideas. Enjoy mowing, it's a Derby Party for us later, so Happy Derby Day!

American Pharoah is the favorite, btw, but I believe Dortmund's the better horse. Keep an eye on Carpe Diem with Velasquez as the jockey, tho, and Frosted may be the underdog.

Though Mike Smith is my favorite jockey (because he's a nondirty, ethical, god-fearing jockey who almost always finishes on the top 5 without ever hitting a horse), but his horse is a long shot.

But hey, the horse is named "Far Right", so feel free bet on the long shot any Far Right readers! (As much as I like Mike Smith, I will not be betting on Far Right, but Happy Derby fun everyone!:)
I'll never forget Secretariat. I still watch that race - on Youtube sometimes.
[ In Reply To ..]
My neighbor bet on Carpe Diem.
Yes! Secretariat may be best ever, also like Sea Biscuit, Cigar - and just an FYI update
[ In Reply To ..]
..."Far Right" came in 15th out of 22 yesterday. Not sure that's a precursor to the presidential race or what, but just an update lol

Yup, Secretariat holds the fastest Derby record still, I believe. Of course some could debate Man O'War or John Henry were the best horses ever, but we're partial to Secretariat, Sea Biscuit and Cigar especially.

Just 2 more quick followup FYIs. First, the good news is, we won $30 (but had bet $80 lol)

We won on a Win/Place/Show with American Pharaoh and Dortmund (for those who don't know, this means if those horses come in any order above show/third place, you win for each place underneath it as well), a Show bet with Firing Line (which means you win if that horse comes in first, second or third). However, we lost because we had a Trifecta Key Box on the following horses:

1. American Pharaoh
2. Dortmund.
3. Frosted

Don't you know, of course they came in:

1. American Pharaah.
2. Firing Line.
3. Dortmund.
4. Frosted.

(For those who don't know, a trifecta key box is where you pick one lead horse and the other 2 can come in any order after them). So had Frosted just been a little faster, we'd be rolling, right now. Ah well, still fun and Gary Stevens is my second favorite Jockey so kudos to him coming in second at 52 years old.

Secondly and more politically, I also had to laugh at the first thing winning jockey Espinoza said, after winning his now second Derby in a row. He said:

"I feel like the luckiest Mexican in the world right now."

Lol, good for him. Although if I were him, I'd have probably said:

"I have won millions for the owners, trainers and thousands of other people in the world on California Chrome and American Pharaoh. Still want to deport me?"

Lol, regardless, you go, Espinoza :)

big·ot /ˈbiɡət/

a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions.

The "bigots" at the Indiana pizza place is an apt description since they are intolerant toward those holding different opinions and said they would refuse to cater a gay wedding. Since I personally am intolerant of those people who are intolerant toward those holding a different opinion, I guess you could say I am a bigot against bigots who wish to deny other people service based on their differences. I think I will open a pizza shop and refuse to serve Christians or maybe I'll just refuse to serve any bigots. I probably won't be serving much pizza since we're all intolerant in some fashion, right? I think people who make pizzas should make pizza and serve it to everyone and not concern themselves with the color, race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation of their consumers. I personally don't see how making pizzas for someone who is not like you is in any way condoning their beliefs.

In answer to your question, I don't believe the president is making fun of anyone "because their religious believes are different." I missed the part where he criticized a citizen for their religion, but perhaps it has been twisted in the media to infer that he did.

The President joked that he and Biden have gotten so close, "there's a pizza place in Indiana that won't serve us anymore." I missed the part where he joked about the pizza place's religion. Can a pizza place even have a religion? Is this like Hobby Lobby where company/corporation can now be a religion? I also missed the part where the pizza place is a citizen, but maybe this falls under the "corporations are people too" Romney declaration where companies/corporations are now citizens.

The president didn't "go after a citizen" or a religion either. I think that someone wanting to twist that joke into rhetoric insisting that he did would take quite a lot of spinning, but since when did a lot of spinning stop the right-wing pundits from twisting someone's words and coming to a false conclusion? LOL

The outrage and political correctness coming from the right-wing machine on this particular issue is one of the biggest displays of hypocrisy I've seen in a very long time. The same right-wing pundits who have gone out of their way to criticize Obama for not using the term "Muslim terrorists" and thereby disparage an entire religion for the actions of a few are now twisting his joke and trying to infer that he is criticizing Christians.

Do you see the hypocrisy here? The right-wing machine is now whining that Obama is criticizing people based on their religion and how he shouldn't do that, when the very same people have spent a lot of time criticizing him for not calling out the Muslim religion and saying that he really should be doing that.

This is right-wing spin at its finest, the rhetoric that the right-wing media uses to keep their constituents agitated, upset, and persecuted. They criticize Obama for not disparaging a religious group, and then they spin a silly joke around and criticize the president for disparaging a religious group and seem to be calling for political correctness here.

Does anyone not see the blaring hot and blindingly bright and shining hypocrisy in the right-wing media whining that Obama shouldn't criticize anyone for their religious beliefs? That spinning wheel goes round and round, and the right-wing media spinning machine knows how to spin it both ways to keep the persecution complex alive and thriving and keep people blaming the President for all the world's problems in order to take the focus off the big picture.

[ In Reply To ..]
You said: "It's been set up."

Well, I wonder what was the catalyst for it being set up, and how did it happen that "it's been set up"?

White people who voted for Obama were accused of voting for him only because he was black, and black people who voted for him were accused of the exact same thing, even though blacks usually vote for the Democratic presidential candidate in numbers of around 95%, regardless of the candidates' race having always been white before Obama. Hillary Clinton hasn't even won the Democratic nomination, and women are already being accused of supporting her only because she is a woman, being accused of gender bias. So who does a Democrat vote for without being labelled some kind of name by the right-wing machine? A white male?

The name calling is a double edged sword, you know? If righties want to tell people they only voted for Obama for racist reasons and tell people they only voted for Hillary for gender reasons, then why in the world should it surprise them if they are similarly accused? In my opinion, it's so typical of today's conservatives. Rather than discuss issues, right-wing politicians and their surrogates in the "news" want to make name calling and character assassination of their opponents their primary campaign strategy and then want to cry foul and become unhinged and act as if they're being treated unfairly and persecuted when they are on the receiving end of the exact same treatment that they're dishing out.

I'm not voting for a pediatric neurosurgeon with no political experience whatsoever to be the leader of our country, nor a governor with zero foreign policy experience at the federal level. I'm voting for the person I think is the most qualified person running for president regardless of gender, and so far that is a woman. If the right-wing machine wants to accuse me of gender bias because I vote for a woman, I couldn't care less what they label me; however, it would be an awesome realization if the people who think "it's been set up" would realize that maybe the people who are setting it up is, in fact, their own party.

Besides that, the stock market has more than doubled, millions more have health care, unemployment is down, the deficit is down, the housing industry is recovering, the auto industry has recovered. I Absolutely Hate Spiders! Feb 28, 2011
I hate when I am sitting here typing at 2:30 in the morning and a spider is crawling up the wall!  I am absolutely terrified of spiders to the point that it is hard for me to kill them.  I did it though, used the fly swatter, hopefully it died as it is behind furniture so it is hard to see but now I really do not want to put my feet on the floor to continue typing.  Having real panic feeling like it is coming out from there, big and ******.  One time, I was cleaning my house ...

Absolute Power Currupts AbsolutelyFeb 27, 2012
There has been this crazy movement in the States that have their legislatures and executive branch all in the Republican party.  They have pushed through anti-bargaining legislation, they are trying to take away the people's right to vote through various shennanigans, they are trying to deregulate the polluting industries, and now they are even trying to force women into getting transvaginal ultrasounds.  I didn't go and vote the last election, but I certainly will ...

anti-reform guy from Americans For Prosperity into ground about their lack of any positive contributions to health care - only criticisms.  Chris had him pinned to the wall for the whole interview.  It was beautiful. reminded me of the scene in the Matrix when Neo just flicked the bullets away with his wrists.  AFP is the group that sponsored the Columbus Ohio rally.  the mysterious man in the suit and tie badgering the disabled man was holding an AFP sign.   Its so ...

Absolutely...very Hard To Find Any Values InJun 22, 2017
"The president also said that “those coming into our country must embrace our values” and he renewed calls for a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico." "Frankly, I'm not even sure what are values are anymore in this country. We don't place any values around life or the loss of it, we place no value on our environment or on peace, or on equal opportunity, or on women's rights. Quite obviously, we place no value on healthcare. What exactly are the shared values this man sp ...

"I Mourn For The Country" -- "the Country Is Doomed"...Nov 07, 2012
"America is gone as we know it."  The hyperbole is very sad to read.  Even though you didn't vote for Obama, don't you WANT our country to start healing?  We won't heal if citizens don't start to break the overly-dramatized sense of gloom and doom.   ...
