The president is taking some heat for calling Isis

Yet another foreign policy blunder...ultimately endangering all of us.

;

I actually agree with Obama on this one. - The U.S. can't be the world's police.

[ In Reply To ..]
We can't arm the whole world either or do strategic air strikes in every country. If Obama had actually armed every country or bombed every country the right wing wanted him to, we'd be spending every dime we had to play the world's police. These neocons love war and war profits for their friends at Halliburton, Lockheed, etc., and they are all too eager to risk Americans' lives to line their pockets with profits from death. Their greed for blood money knows no bounds. War is profit to them. Enough is enough. We should have never gone into Iraq to begin with, and we certainly can't stay there forever to do the job they won't do.

Who would have ever thought the Iraqi soldiers would lay down their weapons and surrender with little to no resistance? What kind of moron politician would want to keep sending American soldiers to their deaths in a country where their own soldiers aren't willing to fight to save it?

Obama is right on this one. If Americans are in danger, protect our people and our assets, but why on earth keep fighting for people who won't fight for themselves?

Reminds me of Bush - saying "Bring it"

Not very smart.

I guess you were never a solider. - These guys absolutely are JV terrorists.

[ In Reply To ..]
Believe me when I tell you that Obama is absolutely right on that one. These guys are nothing. Add to that, there are a very small number of them. It's easy to take town after town in Iraq when the Iraqi soldiers are laying down their weapons, taking off their uniforms, and surrendering with no fight.

The United States could wipe 90% of them off the face of the planet in 10 minutes tops and watch from cameras thousands of miles away while the other 10% came back to find only black stains on sand. You obviously have no idea what the United States military is capable of... Obama does.

I have trouble believing the president. - Subject line edited by OP--SM

No offense to your military service, for which I thank you immensely, but I have trouble believing our president these days. He's lied too many times and he himself set that precedent.

When I hear retired generals, ex-CIA counterterrorism officials and Middle Eastern professors talk, I listen. Everyone is saying these barbarians have grown in numbers expotentially using a very savvy social media campaign and are now estimated to be numbered at 10,000, 100 of whom are apparently Americans. Their numbers are ever-increasing because of said media campaign and they are capable of branching out worldwide.

Also, they are said to be very wealthy because of the money they have stolen from banks, etc., that they have overrun. They have the financial means to purchase ANYTHING they want.

Again, no offense intended to you and/or other MTs who are former military. I thank you all for your service to our country.

Here's the truth. - The real truth.

[ In Reply To ..]

You seem to have a problem with what you call lying by the current president, but I wonder if you had a problem with the lies of the former president and his administration?  Do you understand the meaning of the word "precedent" that you use regarding Obama? Obama is hardly the alpha of lying politicians.  If you're going to distrust a lying politician, then you're not going to trust any of them.  I can hear the right wing screaming now about how it's all Obama's fault and that blaming Bush is getting old.  Blaming the leader of the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei for WWII is much, much older than blaming George W. Bush for Iraq, but there's a really good reason that people keep doing it.  Even when the truth is inconvenient, it's still the truth.

The truth about Iraq is that finally al-Qaeda is actually in Iraq, just like the Bush/Cheney administration had tried to convince the public when they lied in order to invade Iraq post 9/11. Finally there are weapons resembling WMDs in Iraq (but only because we brought them there), and finally the United States can be seen as the liberators the Bush/Cheney administration swore that we would be over a decade ago when they took a big stick and stirred up the ant hill called the Middle East.  This is what the neocons wanted everyone to believe was in Iraq, and now that it finally is, they are screaming and pointing the finger and blaming Obama for it and hoping you'll be gullible enough to believe it's all Obama's fault so you'll vote them back into power.

Once back in power, they will pick up where they left off in shifting profits from the middle class and poor up to their rich friends and go right back to war as usual.  You see, war is a really, really good way to make a lot of money for a lot of people, and presidents that don't want to go to war and keep the money flowing to the rich guys are generally attacked by the war mongering neocons and money loving types who like to offshore their money and pay no taxes on it, all while claiming to love and support their country. Who needs to pay U.S. taxes? They've got lapel pins to prove they love America. Let the American people pay for the war with their blood and their money; the war fund can come from the American people's pension; you know, that thing we take out of their wages called Social Security.

You're worried about al-Qaeda having money? Oh, wow, really? Don't you realize that they have something way more powerful than money. Al-Qaeda’s most powerful strength lies not in its material resources but rather in its beliefs. Bin Laden's followers and al-Qaeda consider themselves to be the true believers surrounded by a sea of iniquity and believe with every drop of blood flowing through their veins that the future of religion itself, and therefore the world itself, depends on them and their battle. Money pales in comparison to a group of religious parrots who think the world should conform to their way of thinking or perish. The guys on the far right want to interject the Christian religion into the United States, and the really good reason for that is that religion as a tool for war is a far more powerful tool than money. It is estimated that the attack on 9/11 was perpetrated for around $200,000.  Who needs colored paper to buy things when they've got 19 people willing to give their lives by using commercial aircraft as flying weapons for their religious cause of saving the world?

The truth is, these "barbarians" have always been well funded.  They are well funded by our so-called allies of Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia (the Bush's friends). What was the initial lie being bandied about for the reason to go into Iraq to begin with, that Saddam had ties with al-Qaeda?

http://youtu.be/IJiNtpIpD6k?t=21s

Ever wondered why 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11 were Saudi Arabian citizens, yet we did absolutely nothing to Saudi Arabia? Dig deep, do some research. The answers all tie together and all have to do with greed and lust for money, and oil equals big money.

The truth is, these "barbarians," as you call them, have always been capable of branching out worldwide, and 10,000 "barbarians" is actually a small number compared to the United States military industrial complex, and all that that implies, and 100 Americans fighting with al-Qaeda/ISIS against their own country sounds exactly like the Tea Party in Congress.

The "real" truth? According to whom? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
No, this is your truth. Not my truth. Not my neighbor's truth. Your truth.

I stopped reading your post the moment I realized that you once again were all about blaming Obama's predecessor. You lost all credibility at that point and I lost all interest in what you had to say.
For some crazy reason, you think I actually care what you and your neighbor think. - ROFL
[ In Reply To ..]
The fact is that Obama's predecessor started the war that the right wing is now whining about. Glossing over that fact and trying to whitewash it will never change the reality of the issue no matter how much the right wing wishes it would. The right wing's neverended whining that the United States should have never left Iraq is a fairly large clue as to the reality of the situation. When there was no sign of George W. Bush at the 2008 or the 2012 Republican convention, the right wing acknowledges this fact. When there is no sign of George W. Bush at the 2016 Republican convention, we can all watch in disbelief as an entire group of politicians feign ignorance as to why there is no Republican president to speak at the podium. Why so much talk of Saint Reagan? Too bad that guy couldn't live to be 100 and speak for Republicans. Hey, why don't we get his successor? Who was that guy? Oh, right! The neocons neverending whining that the United States should have never left Iraq without toppling Saddam Hussein under Bush Sr. and then a large number of the same guys going back to finish the job is a fairly large clue as to who started the whole mess. It's a crazy concept, I know, but you can't scream for staying at war and then whine because your leaders get the blame for it.

So as to your question: "The 'real' truth? According to whom?"

The Jews still talk about the Holocaust and always will, and the Iraqis still talk about jihad against the infidels and have been and will be for a long, long time. Funny thing how you can't openly declare war on an entire group of people and then expect the world to just forget about it.

You and your neighbor can cling to "your truth" for all eternity, but the world will ALWAYS blame the German Chancellor and the Third Reich for World War II, and they will ALWAYS blame Bush and the neocons for Iraq.
It's the "real" truth according to HISTORY! - nm

How does Obama ordered the raid on Bin Laden that left him dead weigh into your argument?  How about Obama is bombing ISIS?

I remember a president who kissed and held hands with Muslims on a fairly regular basis and spoke a foreign language at a Muslim celebration.  He stood in front of our nation's leaders and spoke of the greatness of Islam. "He made it clear where his loyalties lie--in more ways than one." (see link)

[ In Reply To ..]

The subject of the post is the president showing clear signs that he is a Muslim.  Notwithstanding the whole killing of Bin Laden and thousands of other Muslims and still at it, Obama had a Muslim leader at the White House.  Well, there you go.  There's a sure sign he's one of them.

Well, all that talk about the current president showing Muslim signs got me to thinking.  No one is blaming George Bush for anything except showing clear signs of being a Muslim.  I don't remember ever seeing Obama kiss a Muslim or hold hands with one or speak in a foreign language praising Allah in a mosque, but I know for a fact that George W. Bush has done all of that.  And that got me to thinking some more.

For some crazy reason, I think the far right wing subculture who want to blame Obama and his being a Muslim sympathizer for the current state of affairs in the world have overlooked a whole lot of really big previous Muslim signs.

I don't remember Obama ever having a Muslim King spend the night at his personal residence on American soil, but Bush did....  not once but twice.  Oh, how could all these Muslim signs have been overlooked?  Surprised
