Could it be because of Greece? The trading is still going on and it's been down as much as 215 points. It's now "only" down 207 points now.
Seems like it's a technical issue. No one knows yet. - Truthhurts

Seriously, I remember the last time they halted trading. It wasn't pretty.
There are reports that China is in trouble in that their stocks had dropped like a rock overnight (our time). The FBI is monitoring the situation but they don't see anything wrong and the SEC isn't saying anything right now. Guess we'll find out some time.
Watching the "ticker" all stocks are down except gold, cybersecurity stocks and some other tech stocks (but most down.
The NASDAQ is still trading even though they are down, too.
Far too coincidental - NYSE down, United flights down, Wall Street Journal down... - Truth

Just too coincidental to all have had "glitches." I do think you have something there, though, regarding Greece. Oh, and China's tanking, too.
I also went to FBN, CNBC, and CNN, after I first heard the news, but they're all stating the same thing: TECHNICAL ISSUES. Nothing more, nothing less.
Paranoia of a certain station is really hysterical! At least I got my laugh for the day and now I'll leave the board once again because of the stupidity. No chance to discuss anything on here because of the paranoia and hate.
I never responded to your comment unless - you posted the first without moniker

I posted that it was technical issues also, apparently 1 minute before you did.

I waste too much time here anyway and rarely learn anything. Mostly how much some people hate America. Who needs to read that everyday!
I finally found out why you can't have a discussion here with the left. - It's their totalitarianism viewpoint. sm
[ In Reply To ..]
You just cannot disagree with anything they say or they will destroy you. Even if they win at something, they aren't happy. So, here it's pointless to try to have a discussion.
I was listening to Rush yesterday and it was a brilliant analysis.
Adios America.
I had this argument with two leftists recently, where I said - what they wanted wasn't for me to be

the bad guy - they already believed that - but rather for me to believe that I am the bad guy.
One of the comments on that site that says it all.
It doesn't matter what you believe, it matters what - you are. ARE you the bad guy?

The more emboldened they become the more in-your-face they will be. Before long we will see in public what used to happen in private.
I'm expecting that and how to deal with it, what to - tell my children. nm
and "totalitarianism" --- suppose we can - litter comments with "fascism"

none of these work near as well as people would like them too, but lack of understanding leaves people desperately trying to compartmentalize and label, so they no longer have to consider any of the conversation valid and they can dismiss and go on their way, wearing blinders, but on their way nonetheless.
They seem to be getting more desperate every day. - I guess its the only way they can cope.
I rather doubt military chaplains affect military morality much. We're talking about an organization, after all, whose primary purpose is to kill the enemy. "Thou shalt not kill" is conveniently ignored on the battlefield.
I'm reminded of a line from Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant":
"You want to know if I'm moral enough join the army, burn women, kids, houses and villages after being a litterbug?"
Totalitarian? You just described the right. - .FAIL.

Why anyone would be concerned over an 8/10ths of a percent drop is a mystery to me. There was a bigger drop than that the day before - were you even aware of that one?
Much more interesting to me is the five year increase from 10,000 to almost 18,000. Not exactly what the Republicans warned us would happen under a 'communist/socialist/fascist' president.
And we should be expecting a downward - correction

That was a very impressive leap you made from the simple question of 'which news agency' to an assumption that the poster was revving up to attack Fox news.
I suppose if you're a Fox fan I can understand that you might come to feel beseiged. Fox does have a long and ignoble history of telling flat-out lies in furtherance of their agenda.
But sometimes a question is just a question.
At beginning of morning the traders were - given list of 200 problem stocks

no reason, but they were not to be traded.
Also NYSE is down, but trading is happening on other boards.
Why the dislike for info? or did you dislike the - info itself?
"They're working very hard trying to figure out what happened."
Ummm...excuse me, but if you don't know what happened yet, how do you know it wasn't a cyberattack??!!
They were real quick with the "no cyberattack" thing - and as someone who's done work in forensics, I am very suspicious about HOW fast they came out with that.
Cyberattack - Not
[ In Reply To ..]
The first reason they were able to say so quickly that it wasn't a cyberattack is that they knew they had just done a small software rollout, and the systems affected were all related to that rollout. So they knew in general terms what the cause was, but were still working on the specifics.
I've been in the software industry, and I've seen this exact sort of thing more than once.
The second reason they knew so quickly is that it's relatively easy to look at a problem and rule out certain specifics. If you turn on your vacuum cleaner and nothing happens, what do you do first? Me, I look to see if it's plugged in. If it is, I can immediately rule that out as the problem, even while I still don't have any idea what the real problem is.
