Born Free - Kid Rock

Posted: Nov 25, 2010

I am a Kid Rock fan and absolutely LOVE his song Born Free.  The saxophone reminds me a little bit of some of Bruce Springteen's music.  My Thanksgiving has been fulfilled in more ways than one, as Kid Rock sang this song today at half time during the Patriots and Detriot game.   Now if only the Patriots can come through our household will be a happy one with full bellies.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!

I used to not be able to stand Kid Rock. I just didn't like his music and thought he was a big druggie (this was years ago I think he was with Pamela Anderson). Anyway...about a week ago I watched a special about him and he talked about his life and family and his music and he seemed like a really nice person. Same values I grew up with, just making a living. I loved when he said he could not live in LA with the bumper to bumper traffic and he'd rather eat out of a garbage can than that. I really gained a lot of respect for him after watching that (even though I didn't see the whole episode). So after your message here I pulled up his Born Free video on youtube and I love it. Now will be listening to more of his songs - (I still don't like Bruce Springsteen however) :-).

I did not like Kid Rock years ago either. His style of music has changed over the years and I have come to really enjoy his newer songs and have become a big fan. I saw the same special last week and never knew he had a 13-year-old son he is raising by himself (and a nanny). He does a good job on singing Sweet Home Alabama as well.

I too was watching the Patriots game and then company came over and we turned the TV off.

I first heard him sing that song on one of the awards shows and it still gives me chicken-skin every time I hear it. I think he does a great job with that song!

Thanks for sharing your recipes RLee.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dumb As A Rock: US HighschoolersJan 12, 2012
Are we raising the stupidest generation in American history?  The statistics that you are about to read below are incredibly shocking.  They indicate that U.S. high school students are basically as dumb as a rock.  As you read the rest of this article, you will be absolutely amazed at the things that U.S. high school students do not know.  At this point, it is really hard to argue that the U.S. education system is a success.  Our children are spoiled and lazy, our schoo ...

How Do I Protect My Daughter From Seeing Her Father Hit Rock Bottom?Jan 22, 2014
I got married really young, but have stuck it out for nearly 20 years.  I have become my husband's mother more than his wife.  He suffers from bipolar disorder that was not diagnosed until 10 years ago and has become progressively worse.  To compound that problem, he is an alcoholic who continually falls off the wagon.  He has not and will not work.  In the history of our marriage he has held two real jobs for very short periods of time (less than a year) and has do ...

Born And Raised?Jun 29, 2010
How many of you were born, raised, and continue to live near the same place, or even the same state? I oftentimes get patients who were born and/or raised in one place and then moved all over the country.  I was raised within 20 miles of my brithplace, born in my mother's bedroom. Even now as an adult, I'm only about 2 hours away from there, and my mother, father and all my siblings live within 2 towns. Nobody has moved out of the area except maybe my brother in the military, ...

Well, This Morning I Heard Donald Trump Say That I Was Not Born In AmericaApr 10, 2011
I learned a lot more about myself and my status. It's not good. I don't think I exist. He said that a Certificate of Live Birth is worthless. It isn't a birth certificate at all! He said that in many states you can't use it to get a driver's license or even to get married. I couldn't remember exactly what I had, so I dug out all of the family birth certificates, uh, I mean, things they gave us when we were born. My husband's says, "Standard Certificate of Bir ...

Is U.S. Really A Free Society?Mar 08, 2011
Read a Letter to the Editor. I totally agree with it. Every day, there are new laws made to stop people from doing something stupid, or to "protect" other people from themselves. Do we really need all these law? No. Common sense should prevail, but it seems our government doesn't think anyone has common sense anymore.  Least free society You state "What, on paper, would appear to be the freest society in the world appears, in practice, to be among the most oppressive. EU And US Free Trade TalksFeb 13, 2013
It will be interesting to see how this affects the US economy--here's a little of what we are looking at:   One aim of the free-trade agreement would be to eliminate or reduce tariffs - taxes that apply to imported goods. For both the EU and US average tariffs are already low, below 3% on one measure. But further reductions could nonetheless stimulate additional trade and there are some areas where tariffs are much higher, notably food. Beyond that, the negotiations would try to re ...

Smoke-free JobsJul 31, 2013
