this meant that racism really didn't exist...but it is a move in the right direction, baby steps, a step at a time, conversation, realization, symbolic acts and everyday acts will perhaps someday mean less racism. Don't think it really ever goes away completely, but might seem almost invisible if we keep trying.

I can't figure out just what it is about freedom of expression that liberals can't seem to understand. Would you like it if I demanded that gays stop flying the rainbow flag? I could offer arguments just like yours.

The rainbow flag was never the standard of traitors bent on destroying the United States. So, there's one difference.

The rainbow flag was never the banner of a society who felt it was their god-given right to make an entire race slaves on the basis of nothing more than skin color.

If individuals want to wave the Confederate flag, I say more power to them. It makes it easier for the rest of us to identify them for the bigots they are. I may not like bigots, but they enjoy the same rights to free expression that I do.

If those bigots think that local governments should be able to fly that flag of traitors on public grounds, though, they're quite wrong about that.

I guess if there are two idiots somewhere in the country "demanding that the American flag come down" (not going to happen) then that would make your statement a true one, but would you mind telling us who these people are that are demanding this or is that just the right-wing propaganda misinformation machine latest line of fear-and-smear total rubbish to whine about for no real reason?

This fallacy and utter propaganda that liberals are removing the battle flag from the South Carolina statehouse must be very convenient for conservatives who wish to delude themselves regarding the truth of the matter, which truth must just be much too painful for them to wrap their heads around and for their minds to comprehend.

I guess blaming liberals is so much easier that facing the fact that it was a majority conservative electorate in South Carolina that voted for the flag's removal. There are 28 Republicans to 17 Democrats in the SC Senate, and 78 Republicans to 46 Democrats in the SC House. A Republican descendant of Jefferson Davis himself stood on the SC House floor and made an impassioned plea for its removal and was very instrumental in making it happen. Good on her! The Republican Governor of the State of South Carolina called for its removal along with support of both Republican United States Senators from that great state. The Republican governor signed it into law today.

But, hey, whatever! If conservatives would like to enjoy their happy delusion that liberals are the ones removing the flag, we liberals are all for that since, yes, we have no problem understanding "freedom of expression," even if it's totally ludicrous delusional propaganda designed to "pin the tail on the Donkey" in order to feel better about it in their own minds and to obfuscate the fact that Republicans are divided on the issue.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court has ruled 7-2 for the removal of the commandments because other groups are demanding equal space on the lawn. The Governor of Oklahoma has refused to remove the "religious rock." Where I come from, that's contempt of court.

Your conservative friends are only screaming about Obama's executive orders because they don't like what's in them. A lot of them are promising to write executive orders themselves that conservatives won't scream about or mischaracterize because they will like those executive orders.

I said "contempt of court," and it applies in this case; deflecting to whining about a completely different issue doesn't remotely change the fact that the Governor will be in contempt of court for not following their orders.
