Looks like we have another W-style hate-hate relationship brewing between Mr Bean and the press. So much for transparency.
This just out of Jerusalem. Romney’s campaign announced Saturday that it would block the news media from covering a scheduled fundraiser, which will be held at the King David Hotel. The campaign’s decision to close the fundraiser to the press violates the ground rules it negotiated with news organizations in April, when Romney wrapped up the Republican nomination and began opening some of his finance events to the news media.
The Romney camp refused to give a reason for the abrupt about face (AS IF we can't figure this out without their help). Despite repeated requests for an explanation, campaign spokesman Rick Gorka would only allow, “That’s all I’ve got for you — it’s closed press.” Guess Adelson doesn't take too kindly to Kodak moments. He's currently under a cloud of suspicion, generated by none other than Senator John McCain, for using foreign money to buy elections.
The report did mention Romney's history of "delivering different messages" to his donors when reporters are not present to hear them, remembering the hot-mic disclosure at a closed-press fundraiser in Florida that he would dramatically downsize the Department of Education and eliminate the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Keep 'em coming, Mitt. Scorekeepers rarely sleep.
