One of the most insightful articles I've read

Posted: Apr 11, 2013

I've heard many people comparing him to Nero.  I can see why.  Especially with his latest stint of throwing a lavish party when the country (Russia, SK, China and many other countries) are bracing for what NK might be doing.  This article pretty much sums it up.  It was written in 2011, but still holds true to as if it was written today:

Three significant historical events have been eclipsed by Obama: 1) Jimmy Carter will no longer be looked upon as the worst president in American history; 2) Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton will no longer be recognized as the greatest liars in presidential history; 3) Clinton’s stain on Monica’s dress, and what that did to the White House in general and the office of the president specifically, will forever pale in comparison to the stain and stench of Obama.

I need not spend much time on the failure of Obama as president. His tenure has been a failure on every measurable level.  So much so, in fact, that some of the staunchest, most respected liberal Democrats and Democratic supporters have not only openly criticized him – some even more harshly than this essayist – but they have called for him to step down.

Mr. Nixon and Clinton lied to save their backsides. Although, I would argue there are no plausible explanations for doing what they did, I could entertain arguments pursuant to understanding their rationales for lying. But in the case of Obama, he lies because he is a liar. He doesn’t only lie to cover his misdeeds – he lies to get his way. He lies to belittle others and to make himself look presentable at their expense. He lies about his faith, his associations, his mother, his father and his wife. He lies and bullies to keep his background secret. His lying is congenital and compounded by socio-psychological factors of his life.

Never in my life, inside or outside of politics, have I witnessed such dishonesty in a political leader. He is the most mendacious political figure I have ever witnessed. Even by the low standards of his presidential predecessors, his narcissistic, contumacious arrogance is unequalled. Using Obama as the bar, Nero would have to be elevated to sainthood.

As the stock markets were crashing, taking with them the remaining life saving of untold tens of thousands, Obama was hosting his own birthday celebration, which was an event of epicurean splendidness. The shamelessness of the event was that it was not a state dinner to welcome foreign dignitaries, nor was it to honor an American accomplishment – it was to honor the Pharaoh, Barack Hussein Obama. The event’s sole purpose was for the Pharaoh to have his loyal subjects swill wine, indulge in gluttony and behavior unfit to take place on the property of taxpayers, as they suffer. It was of a magnitude comparable to that of Tyco CEO Dennis Kozlowski’s $2 million birthday extravaganza for its pure lack of respect for the people.

The people of America own that home Obama and his wife continue to debase with their pan-ghetto behavior. It is clear that Obama and family view themselves as royalty, but they’re not. They are employees of “we the people,” who are suffering because of his failed policies. What message does this behavior send to those who today are suffering as never before?

What message does it send to all Americans who are struggling? Has anyone stopped to think what the stock market downturn forebodes for those 80 million baby boomers who will be retiring in the next period of years? Is there a snowball’s chance in the Sahara that every news program on the air would applaud this behavior if it were George W. Bush? To that point, do you remember the media thrashing Bush took for having a barbecue at the White House?

Like Nero – who was only slightly less debaucherous than Caligula – with wine on his lips Obama treated “we the people” the way Caligula treated those over whom he lorded.

Many in America wanted to be proud when the first person of color was elected president, but instead, they have been witness to a congenital liar, a woman who has been ashamed of America her entire life, failed policies, intimidation and a commonality hitherto not witnessed in political leaders. He and his wife view their life at our expense as an entitlement – while America’s people go homeless, hungry and unemployed.

He compares Obama to CALIGULA, and you find this insightful??!? - Vamonos H. Pest

[ In Reply To ..]
It's just another rant (like all the rants about the president's vacations, etc.) trying to paint the president as another black guy who spends money unwisely. And that's the nicest way I can put it without being offensive. The common term for this involves the N word plus the word "rich." And this is rant is by a black guy, right? Lovely.

Pan-ghetto??!? WTH?

But equally as outrageous (and downright stupid and overdramatic) is comparing Obama to Caligula. I suggest that this guy and anyone who agrees with this comparison brush up on Roman history. So ridiculous and disrespectful.

Not to mention the fact that this rant is over 2 years old. You'd think that this argument would have gotten stale in the meantime. Guess not. Whatever.

Apparently it has not gotten stale... Sm - Old Woman

because you are responding in kind.

Respect is earned, not bestowed by virtue of the office. In addition, respect is also a 2-way street. If Obama wants to be treated with respect and dignity, which I highly doubt he is the least bit concerned about the public opinion of him, then he should also treat the American people with a modicum of respect. His lavish lifestyle at the taxpayers' expense speaks volumes of his LACK OF respect for us. Indeed, fiddling while Rome burns...........

He's exactly right - if you would take your head out of the sand - you don't get it

It is hands down one the most RIDICULOUS comparisons someone can make. You wanna agree with it, go ahead. It still doesn't change the fact that it is 100% completely and totally ridiculous. This has nothing to do with me having my head in the sand, rather it has a lot to do with folks listening to, applauding, and actually agreeing with someone who either does not know their history or is completely and totally off their rocker.

Let's try again... who doesn't know what now?
Yup, I know who he is. Do you? - you don't get it

Okay, so you don't like the article. It however, happens to be an 100% accurate account of what is going on.

While families are losing their jobs, homes, and going hungry, he's out there partying with the taxpayers dollar. He has proven he does not care what happens to the American people. His attitude is "you lost your job, hey time for me to go to Hawaii or lets throw a big event to celebrate". And that is just one example. I could site hundreds of examples, but you are not interested in that.

It does have everything to do with people having their head in the sands. If you came up and saw what is happening to the country you would see this. Maybe put away some of the vitriol hatred towards anyone not with a D/C after their name and actually think with a clear mind and step back and get some independence. Stop being tied into the political parties. Look at a person and what they have been doing while in office. You would see the article is 100% accurate.

Yes, you do need to try again. Who doesn't know what now?
I'd like to see your hundreds of examples. - nm

WorldNet Daily Continues to Pump Out Outrageous Propaganda

.... WND’s point of view is best described as a cross between the now-defunct supermarket tabloid Weekly World News, which was famous for reporting on Elvis sightings, and The New American, a monthly magazine published by the far-right, conspiracist John Birch Society. In its 15 years online, it has introduced readers to a smorgasbord of bizarre ideas, specializing in anti-gay, anti-Muslim, and anti-liberal propaganda; antigovernment conspiracy theories; and end-times prophecy.

It featured a six-part series claiming (falsely) that soybean consumption causes homosexuality and promoted Scott Lively’s vile opus The Pink Swastika, which says that gays were behind the Holocaust. It has identified the first “leftist” as Satan, and declared that Muslims have a “20-point plan for conquering the United States by 2020.” It has warned of secret plans to create a North American Union, advised readers to invest all their assets in gold, and promoted myriad, if conflicting, theories about when and how the world will end.

Its most enduring claim, by far, is that President Obama is constitutionally ineligible to serve as president because he supposedly is not a “natural-born” U.S. citizen.  ....

Controversies

WND has published articles that have created controversies and criticism of the site by other media outlets.

[edit]9/11 attacks

On September 13, 2001, WND published a commentary by Anthony C. LoBaido regarding the September 11 attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. that occurred two days earlier. In his column, LoBaido outlined what he regarded as the moral depravity of America in general and New York in particular, asking whether, "God (has) raised up Shiite Islam as a sword against America".[21]Commentators Virginia Postrel of Reason magazine and James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal criticized LoBaido and Joseph Farah for the piece and called for columnists Hugh Hewitt and Bill O'Reilly to sever their ties with WND, prompting Farah to respond with a column of his own explaining that the article did not reflect the viewpoint of WND, and that it, like most other commentary pieces, had not been reviewed before being published.[22]

[edit]Barack Obama citizenship conspiracy theories

Barack Obama's long-form birth certificate

WorldNetDaily has emerged as a leading outlet publicizing conspiracy theories about Barack Obama's citizenship status, claiming that Obama is not a natural-born American citizen and is thus not eligible to serve as president.[23][24][25] Such claims are considered unsubstantiated or debunked by most news sources. After the 2008 presidential campaignWND began an online petition to have Obama's Hawaiian birth certificate released to the public. The website also unsuccessfully urged Supreme Court justices to hear several lawsuits aiming to release Obama's birth certificate.[26]

[edit]Libel lawsuit

On September 20, 2000, WND published an article[27] claiming that a Savannah, Tennessee car dealer, and fund-raiser for then-Vice President Al Gore, had interfered with a criminal investigation, had been a "subject" of a criminal investigation, was listed on law enforcement computers as a "dope dealer", and implied that he had ties to others involved in alleged criminal activity. In 2001 the car dealer, Clark Jones, filed a lawsuit[28] against WND; the reporters, Charles C. Thompson II and Tony Hays; the Center for Public Integrity, which had underwritten Thompson and Hays' reporting on the article and related ones[29] and various Tennessee publications and broadcasters who he accused of repeating the claim, claiming libel and defamation. The lawsuit had been scheduled to go to trial in March 2008;[30] but, on February 13, 2008, WND announced that a confidential out-of-court settlement had been reached with Jones.[31] A settlement statement jointly drafted by all parties in the lawsuit stated that a Freedom of Information Act request showed that the allegations had been false, and that WND had misquoted sources.[31]

[edit]Ann Coulter speaking at Homocon

WND has also come out against LGBT participants in the Republican party and their associates. In 2010, when writer and pundit Ann Coulter accepted the invitation to attend and speak at GOProud's Homocon 2010 event, Farah announced the withdrawal of Coulter's name from the list of speakers at the company's Taking America Back conference.[32] Coulter responded by saying that speaking engagements do not imply endorsement of the hosting organization; however, after Farah published private emails between himself and Coulter, Coulter called him a “publicity whore” and a “swine” in an email to the Daily Caller blog.[33]

Opinions are just that..... Sm - Old Woman

[ In Reply To ..]
opinions, and everyone is entitled to their own. WND presents a extremely right world view, that much is true, but it also presents a view that rubs most Americans the wrong way, that of a Christian world view. CNN, FOX News, MSN, and the rest of the news media can and have reported just as polar opinions in their coverage of world events. And Wikipedia is probably one of the most ridiculous sources one could employ as it is written by people who may or may not have credible information on the subject in question.

Back to the original poster's thoughts, I believe that Obama makes Nero pale by comparison. His constant and blatant lying is exceeded only by his total disregard for the American people, whom he probably considers his "loyal subjects." Obama has made a mockery of the office of POTUS and his family have degraded the reputation of the First Family beyond belief. History WILL bear this out.

Wikipedia supplies footnoted sources that anyone may check out to verify the accuracy of the statements (one of which I edited on an article yesterday and that was easily verifiable as to what it really should be because of the source cited).  In the Wikipedia article above, there are multiple sources included that can, once again, be used to easily verify their claims regarding WND.  The same cannot be said about the "articles" on World Net Daily.

It's fine to embrace opinions, just so long as one is aware that opinion does not equal truth. You might want to explain that to some of your fellow partisans who like to say that something is 100% true because they happened to read it.

You seem to be okay with Daily Kos, Rachel Maddow, Huff, etc - WND is a perfectly legitimate AND is equal

[ In Reply To ..]
Just because you don't like what they write does not mean it is not legitimate or true. This article happens to be 100% true and can be verified by what has been happening since 2009.

I find WND to hold more truth than Daily Kos, Rachel Maddow and a lot of liberal sites.

Again, just because you don't like the information does not mean it's not true.

are a little far-fetched, but that does not invalidate every article on WND or any other site, for that matter.

You cannot say without reservation that liberal news sources do not get a little over the top with their reporting from time to time. Does that mean that none of their reporting is valid?

Would you agree that there's a different level of validity between The New York Times - and The National Enquirer?
[ In Reply To ..]
Not every source is "equal" in terms of accuracy and accountability, and WND falls much farther towards the untrustworthy and irresponsible end of the journalism spectrum than any of the liberal-leaning sources that have been cited. Perhaps some truth manages to sneak through on a site like WND, but when anything has that bad a track record, I'm not going to waste my time sifting through the chaff trying to find the wheat (if any).

"...a little far-fetched"?? Well, that was a masterpiece of understatement.
The problem with that little theory is - WND is not National Enquirer
[ In Reply To ..]
WND is a very trusted site. Of course not with the liberals. They only feel that Kos, Huff, CNN, and MSNBC are trustworthy. Problem with that is like the National Enquirer those liberals sites are only good for giggles. They all fall into the same category.

WND is a very responsible and accurate site.

I also find it amusing that people will post the Kos, but then try and say that WND is not credible. ROFLMAO.

Again, just because you don't like what they say does not mean its not true.
If you believe soybeans cause homosexuality and - gays caused the Holocaust,
[ In Reply To ..]
to be "very responsible and accurate," I suppose that's just the end of this debate! LOL
No kidding, it's like yelling in a wind tunnel. Useless. - but not surprising. unfortunately.

WorldNetDaily, Serial Liar

Building on its long history of lying about Democratic presidential candidates, WND is now making up things about Barack Obama.

By Terry Krepel
Posted 8/7/2008

If a news organization repeatedly reported falsehoods, would you read it? Of course not.

Yet, somehow, WorldNetDaily remains in business despite a long history of lying to its readers. WND's favorite targets of lies are Democratic presidential candidates.

In 2000, it published a series of 20 attack articles by Charles C. Thompson II and Tony Hays that (it brags) cost Al Gore the election because they allegedly caused him to lose Tennessee, a state that, had he won, would have made the Florida turmoil moot. But the article contained false claims about a Gore supporter, Clark Jones -- a fact it was finally forced to admit more than seven years later to settle a libel and defamation lawsuit from Jones. Not only did WND admit that "no witness verifies the truth" of what was said about Jones, "the sources named in the publications have stated under oath that statements attributed to them in the articles were either not made by them, were misquoted by the authors, were misconstrued, or the statements were taken out of context."

If just one sample claim in these 20 articles is so egregiously false, there's no reason not to assume that other claims in the article about Gore and others are equally mendacious. After all, as ConWebWatch detailed, WND made no effort to fact-check the articles before purchasing the rights to publish them -- what some might call an act of journalistic negligence, because the time to have verified the articles' claims should have been before they were published, rather than seven years after.

If WND were genuinely concerned about maintaining a reputation as a source of truthful information, it would have announced upon settlement of the Jones lawsuit that it was checking all other claims made in the Thompson-Hays articles to see if they are accurate, followed by a declaration that such shoddy reporting would never appear in WND again. Instead, WND couldn't even be bothered to properly apologize to Jones (let alone Gore); the statement says only that WND "regret[s] whatever harm occurred" to him and that it "wishes him well." It also would have made no effort to keep the settlement's provisions confidential -- perhaps it was too ashamed to disclose how much money it had to pay Jones (it can be presumed that it was a not-insignificant amount) -- and would make public the donors to and finances of its legal defense fund.

In 2004, WND uncritically repeated unverified rumors about a John Kerry affair and never apologized when they were proven false. It peddled every misleading or completely false claim made by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth -- then hired Jerome Corsi, co-author of the book that first promoted those claims, as a reporter. WND published a Kerry attack book by the discredited conservative activist David Bossie, about whom WND itself asserted a few years earlier was "either extremely incompetent or was intentionally trying to sabotage investigations" in his previous role as an anti-Clinton investigator for a House committee. And WND editor Joseph Farah himself falsely claimed that money donated to a group by Kerry's wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, went to "radical causes"; in fact, it was earmarked toward specific environmental projects.

WND started off the 2008 presidential season by targeting Hillary Clinton -- repeating dubious claims against her from a pair of discredited figures, documented liar Kathleen Willey and convicted felon Peter Paul. But as Barack Obama surged in the primaries, WND reacted by uncritically repeating never-verified claims by career criminal Larry Sinclair that he and Obama did drugs and had sex. This came, by the way, just a few days after settling the Clark Jones lawsuit, so one would think that verifying information it published to see if it was true in order to avoid future legal action would have been foremost on Farah's mind. Apparently not.

After Sinclair's claims fizzled -- he later discredited himself even further in a press conference a few months later -- WND settled for manufacturing controversy about Obama, mostly through reporter Aaron Klein's repeated attempts at guilt by association.

Klein followed that up by a further manufactured controversy -- an interview he and conservative radio host John Batchelor conducted with a member of the militant group Hamas, who appeared to endorse Obama. Klein has refused to disclose the circumstances surrounding the interview -- why a member of Hamas would submit to questions from two people on the record as highly critical of Hamas, or whether he knew he was playing into his hosts' anti-Obama agenda by expressing support for Obama.

WND has now moved from manufacturing controversy for Obama and embracing discredited sources to simply making up stuff about him. Because these are easily disproven and could have been accurately reported had WND chosen to do so, we shall presume active negligence and declare them lies.

....

How can a self-proclaimed news organization possibly stay in business when it lies -- regularly and transparently, to the point that such falsehoods can only be considered intentional -- to its readers? We would love to see how Joseph Farah accounts for lying to readers in WorldNetDaily's business plan.

"That little theory...."   It's sure looking a lot like The National Enquirer to me.  (not that I even said that, just that it was towards the disreputable end of the spectrum that The National Enquirer obviously helps define, though the more I see, the more I'm starting to think WND may even surpass the Enquirer for mendacity)

WND Continues "Gay Obama" Lies

Having gotten nowhere with his birther claims, crackpot Jerome Corsi today continued with World Net Daily's latest campaign to prove that President Obama is secretly gay. This time Corsi is claiming that the Obamas' marriage was arranged by Jesse Jackson, who apparently knew who was going to be president more than 20 years in the future.

Jackson explained to Michelle that she would live a life of luxury once Obama was president, and that she never again would have to worry about money. “Michelle was nasty, and most straight guys would never be able to put up with her moods and temperament,” Robyn maintained. “But Obama really didn’t care. Michelle had the credentials and she looked the part. Obama wasn’t interested in her for sex.” A source WND will identify as Hazel, a long-term member of the Trinity congregation, insisted Obama remained sexually involved with men after his marriage to Michelle. “I remember being at this function at Reverend Wright’s house, one of the many parties Wright had, in 1996,” Hazel recalled. “I went to the room where all the coats were on the bed, because I wanted to leave. I was surprised to find the light in the room was off and the coats were on the floor,” she said. “Then I realized there were two men hugging and kissing in there. One of those men was Obama. This was long before anybody knew Obama, before he became famous like he is today.”

Is it just me, or are they obsessed with - homosexuals? nm.

You trust the tabloid, lame stream media reality show type of stories before any facts, simply because you don't like it. Funny thing about facts. They don't change. There are many facts I don't like, but it doesn't mean they are not true. Facts are facts.

There is a lack of truth in all the left-wing faux news sites. There are plenty of legitimate news sites that are not your mainstream brainwashing sites. Sometimes you need to look outside the box. Sometimes you have to not look for the D after the name before listing to the story and making your mind up already that you hate it and will profess it's not true because it leans to the right.

WND - America's independent News Network. I've even seen articles pointing out wrong doings of conservatives too. Here's a hint they are legitimate. If anyone looks at their news site and takes any one of the stories, it can be verified through other site. Believe me, "North Korea now threating Japan" is a true news story. "Jay-z brags about cuba trip" is a real news story. "Automakers recall 3.3 million vehicles" is a real news story. All of those news stories and others are in fact true stories (i.e. facts).

If you are not open to the possibility that anything is possible, and if you just keep your head in the sand, or your fingers in your ears while yelling "I-am-not-list-e-ning. I-don't-want-to-hear-you. La-la-la-la-la" you will never know what is really going on. You will not be able to make an informed decision on facts if you don't even read or listen to other sites except your predetermined "Hanoi Hilton" sites. They tell you what they want to hear and that's all that matters. Don't listen to the facts.

I'll give you a little hint as to how you can validate facts. It's called Research. Read everything, not just your fave sites. Read everything and anything you can find. If some site has a funny little name look beyond the funny little name and actually read the information. When you can cross reference and it can be verified by multiple reputable places, then use your own mind as to what you think about it. Don't let Kos, Huff, O'Reilly, Maddow, or Hannity do that for you. Use your own mind. We were all given a mind with the capability to think for ourselves.

But yeah, those pesky little facts. Doncha just hate it when they get in the way of the make believe world many liberals want to live in.
And also, gays caused the Holocaust. - And Obama is gay.

Causes of the Holocaust
There was no specific incident that triggered the Holocaust.

The most simple answer: Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. Hitler was the driving force behind the obsessive and fanatical Nazi persecution and ultimately also the mass slaughter of the Jews and various other groups, though the details of implementation were left to the terror apparatus, headed by Heinrich Himmler and Reinhard Heydrich. Here are more opinions and input

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_caused_the_Holocaust

Okay, granted that's on a Wiki Q&A page, so unsure if you'll accept that as a legitimate source even though the information is accurate. I just didn't feel like searching through page after page until I could find something written by MSNBC, CNN, Huff, or Kos for your approval. But honestly, what was written on the Q&A page is what we learned in school, what I learned from my years abroad living in the areas it actually happened in, and it matches up to the history books. I know you won't take my word for it as you believe I have some devious plot or something, but honestly it is the truth.

Obama was born in 1961. The holocaust happened in 1942. Yeah, Obama is gay. So what?

There are so many legitimate complaints about Obama. So many things he could have done better. Causes he didn't champion, promises he didn't keep. You can argue that he's a spend and tax liberal. He takes lots of fancy trips as opposed to almost equally expensive brush clearing trips (the main overhead for a presidential vacation isn't the five star hotel, it's the security and transport). You can say he promised to restore habeas corpus and close Guantanamo and that didn't happen. He promised to somehow fix the economy and it's still in the toilet. He setting a dangerous precedent with drone strikes on Americans. There's a list of legitimate arguments 10 miles high to be made. But no one ever seems to do that anymore. Because it's so much more fun for these bloggers to simply spew hate and ignorance.

This article is slanderous and laughably ridiculous. Nero? Caligula? It's insulting to everyone who ever lived during the reigns of these cruel men. It's insulting to the intelligence of all those alive today. It's insulting to anyone living with a dictator today. I can't help but feel the author should be deported to a country with a real dictator. I know people who went through these things. Real dictatorship. Real terror.

Now I get it, the defense is that we aren't there now, but we will be so they can complain about it now. No. That's not how complaining works. One day, if I live long enough, I'll probably develop some type of cancer. Long family history. But right now, I can't write a book telling the tragic, yet uplifting story of the human spirit about my future battle with a disease I don't have and might not even get. And that's dealing with something that's very common and likely will happen. A future communist/fascist takeover is an unlikely occurrence.

The cold hard truth is that a person's life is far more likely to be ruined by their own behavior, a corporation or a criminal than by the government. How many people have had their land taken away by eminent domain as opposed to losing everything due to addiction, theft or losing their job? How many people have had their guns taken away by the government versus stolen or pawned for food money? How much money has the government taken in taxes from you versus how much your employer didn't pay you or how much other corporations overcharged you? How many businesses have failed because of a specific regulation versus poor management choices or competition? How many times did you face financial hardship like unemployment or disease and you were taken care of by a social safety net of concerned citizens or your former employer kept giving you half your original wage to get you through to your next job?

For all the talk of what the government might do, I've rarely ever seen their hand in my life and when I do it's always my state, county or city government. In fact, except for April 15th of every year, I have had no interaction with the federal government. I've never been oppressed. I never met anyone who was oppressed. All I ever hear about is what they're going to do. When they do it, tell me.

What the writer of this article and Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter and all the rest are really doing is justifying their hate to themselves and taking away personal responsibility for their actions (more specifically the actions of their readers/viewers, because they are both hatemongers and cowards.) If your opponent is evil, what action could possibly be unjustified? By reinforcing again and again that the government is evil, they are saying that the social contract is broken. If Obama is Nero or Caligula, even an assassination would be justified. That's what they are really saying. They are saying that it's alright to destroy the government and kill all those who work for it. I'm tired of hatemongers dancing around the subject. They want to kill. They want blood. They're scared, angry, annoyed, incensed and bored, so let's topple the government. They've said as much when defending ARs. They need an AR just in case they need to go on a killing spree of anyone wearing a badge. Am I speaking hyperbolically? Is it true? Who cares anymore. We all get to say whatever we want. There's no personal responsibility. There's no need for facts.

Republican pundits and bloggers love bringing up Nazis. So, what caused the Holocaust? Was it ideology? Was it gun control? It was scared people. It was Hitler and all the people who listened to him. They were scared and powerless and they needed someone to hate for it. Someone to blame. They needed to declare themselves the victims and get revenge. There's nothing more dangerous in this world than a scared person. Moral absolutism, justification of violence, othering, these are the fruit from a tree nourished in fear.

So, my advice to the writer. If you're so upset, write a letter to your congressman. Protest. Go on a hunger strike. Stop paying your taxes. Set yourself on fire in front of the White House. Dress all in black, sleep in a coffin and write lousy poetry about how you're crying tears of blood because no one loves you. Move to another country. Take up heavy drinking (probably too late.) Move into the woods and forsake all human contact. Chain yourself to a... whatever it is you're trying to protect... The point is, stop acting like a spoiled baby, make peace with your reality and get a life.

As for when you can start calling Obama Caligula? As soon as he starts having sex with his own family, murdering his political opponents, raping and torturing, ordering mass executions for his personal entertainment, and appointing his dog to a cabinet position. Until then, he's not Caligula. Regardless of whether you think he's good or bad, he's just Obama. That's all he is. There's a lot of dead Romans right now NOT complaining about how Caligula or Nero ran up the debt and took too many vacations.

It's funny, I don't really care what people say about the president (making fun of and complaining about the guy in charge is a hobby of mine) so much as the insult to journalistic integrity, common sense and the intellect of the human race. I don't like Bush, but he's not a Caligula or Hitler or Stalin. He's not even an Andrew Jackson. He's closer to a more lovable John Adams or a dim-witted Madison.

That and anyone who picks on Jimmy Carter has to go through me. Worst president in history before Obama? That's such an ignorant assertion. The Trail of Tears, 1812, the sinking of the Maine, the Gulf of Tonkin, Prohibition, Watergate, contra, Bay of Pigs, Noriega, the Lusitania, slavery, etc. He was one of the most boring presidents, I'll give them that. He's actually one of my favorites though.

Two Interesting ArticlesSep 25, 2012
I read two good articles this morning and am posting a little of each here with links to read the whole article if you chose to do so. TEMERITY AT THE TOP by David Brooks I guess we’re all supposed to be talking about how to build the middle class these days and look askance at the top 1 percent. But would you mind if I interrupted this cultural moment to point out that capitalism is an inherently elitist enterprise?  Prosperity is often driven by small enclaves of extraordina ...

All these articles are quite long but are worth reading every word. Remember, nothing is written in stone. All can be tweaked. I found some of the ideas very good, and some 'not so good.' All in all, it's good that there's plenty of input happening and hopefully, our government will READ (if that's possible) them and debate/compromise on them. Does Mitt think this is okay?  NEW YORK (AP) -- Profits at big U.S. companies broke records last year, and so did pay for CEOs. That was up more than 6 percent from the previous year, and is the second year in a row of increases. The figure is also the highest since the AP began tracking executive compensation in 20 ...

I read that a Gallup poll today shows a 7-point bump in Obama's polling over last week....did I read that right??  I know it will probably come back down some, but that's a pretty healthy bump!
