Obamacare passed . . . what are your thoughts

Well, healthcare (Obamacare) passed. What are your thoughts and how do you think it will affect the healthcare industry from the workers' point of view (not only MT but everyone).

6:48 PM ET: For anyone just joining us: the House has just officially started debate on health care reform. In light of the deal announced earlier today between President Obama and pro-life Democrats on abortion, it is now widely expected that Democrats will be able to pass the bill. The first vote that will happen in a few hours will be on the "fixes" the House wants to make to the bill originally passed by the Senate in December. The second vote, which may take place close to or even after midnight eastern time, will be on the original Senate bill itself. House Democrats need 216 votes to pass each.

I am looking at the "BIG" picture....everyone seems to have something negative to say, not me! I am glad "OUR" President took the initiative to say "EVERYONE" deserves healthcare! I know for myself working as an IC, I pay a very healthy premium for healthcare for myself and my family. I am very happy that the insurance companies have rules and regulations in place where premiums cannot be increased, you cannot be denied because of pre-existing conditions and you are not denied coverage if you are become seriously ill. Yes.... everyone has a negative comments, but I congratulate "OUR" President because he knows that "EVERYONE" needs insurance. Even the harding people of our country deserve the right to have health insurance for their family! It is "OUR" American right!

The government is acting like they are our mommy and daddy. With all the unemployment and people not being able to find jobs, the situation is ripe for socialized medicine, i.e. more Medicaid for the "uninsured." I mean why can't they focus on getting and keeping well-paying jobs here in the USA so that people can afford to take care of themselves. This entire thing reminds me of an boss I had at one time who thought that in order to be fair that everyone would be categorized and treated the same . . . it was all about being treated the same. Everyone isn't the same and people will not get the same results from being treated the same . . . same goes for healthcare. I believe that anyone who holds the "apron strings" and decisions like passing a massive healthcare bill will be dictating how and to whom the care is delivered . . . sick people will become just too expensive . . .that is bullsh@t.

You are living in a fairytale. Realistically, this bill will - NEVER work and cause more debt.

.. btw, premiums WILL be increased. Eventually, they will be increased so much that we will ALL have to go with Govt controlled coverage. This bill is a nightmare! Get real and wake up!

My father passed away this morning. He was in the nursing home and had been in the hosptial a week or so ago with respiratory distress. Got better and went back to the nursing home. He went back in the hospital Wednesday with pneumonia and CHF. Yesterday the nurses told me he was stable and was improving a little. He died in his sleep. Please pray for us. I spent the last few hours reading it (I really hate legalese-LOL) then did a search on collective bargaining. I did see where they wanted to tie raises to the CPI but can't find it now. Anyway, the pages that I found CB in the search are: Pgs. 955-964, 998, 1045, 1061, 1312, 1332-1334. So, tell me where they are stripping collecitve bargaining from the unions. They worked late into the night to pass it. It will cost $858 billion but it gives everyone a "breather" for a while. Reid pulled the Omnibus bill off the table; i.e., just died. John McCain, Tom Coburn, and Jim DeMint were the reason because they wanted the bill read page per page. Guess Reid didn't want the people to know what was really in the bill. Republicans passed it. Democrats were against it because it still included the $85 billion sequester dollars.
