Obamacare casualty #?
Posted: Jan 16, 2013
Those who have been struggling to hang on in this economy can't take any more monetary losses like those brought by Obamacare:
WINDBER, Pa. (AP) â A southwestern Pennsylvania hospital will stop delivering babies after March 31 because its obstetricians are either leaving or refocusing their practices, and because hospital officials believe they can't afford it based on projected reimbursements under looming federal health care reforms.
The Windber Medical Center, about 60 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, is losing two obstetricians and two others are shifting their focus more to gynecology.
Hospital officials say the population of women of child-bearing age is dropping and that the number of births the hospital would be called upon to perform isn't enough for it to provide the service in the face of lower reimbursements under the federal Affordable Care Act.
The hospital delivered about 200 babies each year since restarting its obstetrics program in 2005.
Officials aren't sure how many jobs will be lost.

I am not a fan of Obamacare by any means but it seems to me that some people are going to blame him if the sun doesn't shine. Unemployment has been a problem since Bush but lets not blame that idiot. When Obama came into office we were in a mess so how can you blame everything on him.
My son-in-law just had an EGD and the explanation of benefits just came yesterday. A total of $7,000 for 2.5 hours. $3700 for EGD and 1,000 for anesthetics and then of course IV set up, etc. These astronomical charges are what needs to be fixed. You tell me how that is affordable. So I do believe in the affordable health aspect of his plan. Not to be raped if I need to go to the hospital. The rest well I am pretty disappointed in the plan. But lets put blame where blame belongs. There definitely is enough to go around.
I try to stay out of the political comments on this board, but this I just had to jump in on this one. Record unemployment has been around before Obamacare so now what? The sun doesn't shine, its cold outside, I have a headache. Lets blame it all on Obamacare.
Blaming Bush is so passe. - Give it up. Obama has had 4 years.

Blaming Bush is so passe. Really! - nana

Yes Obama has had 4 years but Bush had eight years to take a country that was flourishing with a trillon dollar surplus, spent all of that then raided Social Security so we are now in the position we are in. His own party is embarrassed by that chicken neck. Funny did you see the repubs call on him at any time to endorse the candidates throughout the last two elections? No you didn't because he was the biggest screw up in presidential history. Bush will be talked about for many, many years as that is how long it will take to fix his mistakes. So get used to it!! Sorry if you can't take the heat in the kitchen but it works both ways.
lots of things will be changing in our healthcare system - sm

- it doesn't mean that Obamacare is to blame. Malpractice insurance and reimbursement for obstetricians have been issues for decades. This is just one example of why we need healthcare reform. Thanks for pointing this out!
The number of births are dropping? Hmm. Encouraging - hospitals and physicians to "refocus"

their direction is part of healthcare reform--to improve healthcare at lower costs.
Lots of sticks and carrots are being built in for just this reason--to make change. Not all of them will work as well as hoped, some individuals will have problems. But that's the way it always is. We're not ants, after all.
Under the bad old ways, hospitals often "focus" on money--providing services with higher profit margins instead of providing the services their communities actually need. In my nearest city, three major medical centers are all engaged in competition for the same cardiology patients, all spending vast sums of money on facilities and equipment they can brag about--to draw more lucrative patients to make more money. While they are doing this, many patient needs are going unmet, care inadequately provided, rates of hospital-acquired infections above average in all three of them. The costs to the patients are literally in their lives.
I am right now looking for a PCP in the city our vacation home is in. A hospital there is among the top 10 for lowest nosocomial infections in the country. That's where I want to be admitted--8 hours away from home--if I have a choice.
Of course. The number of aborted fetuses is - climbing, however. Gobamacare.

ANOTHER ObamaCare Casualty. Jul 30, 2012An Indiana company that makes medical devices has cancelled plans to build five new plants in the Midwest and may now build them overseas due to the abominable tax provisions that will hit medical device companies. In the case of Cook Medical, they estimate the added tax would be $15 to $20 million. This is money that cannot be used for expansion (read, jobs).

Obamacare Meltdown Has Arrived. Tennessee Is Ground Zero For Obamacare'sOct 07, 2016last month the state insurance commissioner, Julie Mix McPeak, approved premium increases of up to 62% in a bid to save the exchange set up under the Affordable Care Act. “I would characterize the exchange market in Tennessee as very near collapse,” she said.
Then last week BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee announced it would leave three of the state’s largest exchange markets—Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville. “We have experienced losses approaching $500 million over the course of ...
Obamacare Is Failing From Behind... His Goals For ObamacareJul 20, 20161) Have it collapse so that single payer can be implemented amidst the ensuing chaos.
2) Have that happen on somebody else’s watch.
Obamacare was designed to fail so the Democrats could “reform” it with complete government provided socialized medicine. That is the entire purpose for it. Obamacare is designed to collapse so they can backfill the vacuum with government run socialized medicine.
Eventually, everyone will be on some form of Medicare. I believe that was one of Bernie’ ...

This Is My Take On Obamacare For Oct 03, 2013So this is what I have learned. After listening about the new health insurance, this is what I know. There are 3 levels of care/cost. Well after listening to a question and answer discussion on line program coming out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota hospital systems, it scared me greatly.
If all the young people join this program, it will not help the older people who live on a fixed inc ...

ObamacareMar 24, 2015There has been a lot of going back and forth today about Obamacare and it seems there are a lot that approve of Obamacare and think its good for Americans. Some have said they have read the law pertaining to Obamacare.
