Our holidays are built on our country and its own people, not highjacked by some other block of people. Don't start on Jews. Jews settled the land as much as Christians and others as well as Indians, Chinese, etc. So to me that argument does not hold water.
Before you know it we will have so many holidays no one will be attending school nor will they be working. Try Hindu, all the other religions.
This is our country. It is time we let people who come here know that they are not going to make it into the country they left or were born into.

I don't recall Jews asking for this special treatment. In fact, the Jewish kids in my school always got their work ahead of time and turned it all in before their High Holidays, and would generally cram the tests in the day before or during lunch or after school.

I learned I will not purchase any gifts from the "wish lists" of the youth in our family. Yes, this includes my own kids. Only 1 out of the 4 had any surprises at all in their gifts.
