79,000 of that 106,000 enrolled through state exchanges, which have some glitches but are mostly working pretty well.
26,800 enrolled through the federal exchange.
19.5 million people visited healthcare.gov during the reporting period 10/1 - 11/2.
Nearly 400,000 new people have been determined to be eligible for Medicaid (can expect a large enrollment rate in this group).
Other info:
Originally, before the computer problems were realized, reportedly the expected enrollment during the first month was as much as 500,000, so this is about 20% of expected so far.
Projected enrollment at current technologic conditions through the rest of November is @800,000. However, this does not include any improvements to the federal computer system OR changes in enrollment method by people shopping the federal exchange through other websites, going directly to the insurance companies, or increasing rate of signups by phone or in person.
For some perspective, when Massachusetts started computer signups for their system under Romney, the computers worked okay but only 123 (0.3%) signed up the first month, by the end of the year 36,000.
Note that the original expectation was that the excellentdeal Obamacare is for states governments and citizens would combine with insurance company and hospital pressure to result in most states setting up their own exchanges. The federal exchange was not expected to have to handle the signups from 36 states.
Next year, perhaps more people in the 36 disadvantaged states will join business to demand parity with the residents of other states who are purchasing insurance at lower prices, and often significantly better, this year.
