from a politician remembered for his lies and lack of character!

I think he had a lot of character - Trigger Happy

[ In Reply To ..]
I didn't agree with everything he did and he did lie under oath...although to be quite honest...his cigar probing of Monica was really none of our business anyway. Still say he gets an A+ for creativity. ;)
OMG..really? - Trigger Happy
[ In Reply To ..]
What did I say that was untrue? Clinton did lie under oath. And like I said before....it was none of our business to begin with. There are some major haters on here.
Trigger Happy, you are rather focused... - ...on that cigar and...
[ In Reply To ..]
....Monica! (LOL) I remember your post from a few days back where you said you were going to try to be positive and posted this same thing about Clinton...giving him an A+ for creativity. I didn't "dislike" your post on this thread, but I suspect the reason someone did (since you seem to be rather focused on wondering how people can dislike your posts, too) is because you continue to mention it but then say it's "none of our business." That sounds a little disingenuous because if you REALLY think it's none of our business, why keep bringing it up? So, maybe the person disliking your post isn't saying it's untrue--maybe just disliking your pretense of false generosity of spirit.

BTW, I don't think anyone's picking on your posts. People dislike something I've posted quite often without making a comment. No rules against that. I also often think, "What's to dislike?!" Of course, we all think that about our own opinions. :-D
I'm not trying to be disingenuous at all - Trigger Happy
[ In Reply To ..]
but I can't help but find that bit of information funny even if it is none of our business. I mean...who thinks of doing that. LOL I don't get why he was questioned about that anyway. It wasn't like he was forcing Monica. So his lie under oath is ridiculous to me because that shouldn't have been asked in the first place.

In all honesty, I'd poke fun at a republican too if they did something that kinky and we found out about it. LOL
If you say so, I believe you. - (see message)
[ In Reply To ..]
None of us can read minds (I don't think?? LOL), so who really knows what motivation anyone else has to click "Like" or "Dislike." I was only trying to offer a possible explanation about why someone would have clicked "Dislike," since that's what you were asking about: I think it was the seemingly contradictory statement about it not being any of our business while bringing up anyway.

Okay, I'll bite - what did he say?

I didn't watch/listen.

His version of RNC convention message: "We left him a total - mess, he hasn't cleaned it up fast enough,

[ In Reply To ..]
so fire him and put us back in."

I liked that, but there really were some more noble and inspiring lines I should remember that just aren't coming to mind.

Mostly he just hit the Republican points one by one and what we want to accomplish point by point. Did a satisfying job if you're not a Republican. :)

what points he made that the commenters on this thread found most profound?

quite rambling, just eating up the adoration - my take on it

Nothing of substance on how to lead America and get people back to work.
these kind of comments never cease to amaze me - bootstraps
[ In Reply To ..]
Clinton left us with a surplus and in peace.

Give the man some respect.

And it's not his job to get people back to work, but he did reflect what worked for him and probably you.

Your post and other superficial posts depict crowds shaking their angry fists but nothing comes out of their mouths.

What words of wisdom, by the way did the last Republican President, George Bush, have to contribute to the Republican National Convention? Nothing. He wasn't there. Care to share your thoughts as to why he didn't show up?

It's the arithmetic. . . - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Can't count the money twice. No way to get around that. Ryan scares them to death. He is smarter on the economics than the lot of them. Also, dems have rolled all the past plans into the current. Some of the things they attribute to Ryan are from past plans, not the present one. Simpson-Bowles have both praised Ryan. They took from his ideas as well. No one person has all the answers, but after listening to Clinton's round-about speech leaving off on some of his own ideas (downsizing big government being one of them) in favor of party support, I am more determined than ever to vote for Romney and Ryan.

He's so smart, he uses exact same math as Obama - in Medicare "savings"

[ In Reply To ..]
Same number, different ways to achieve it and different ways to use it. What doesn't add up about the Romney/Ryan budget is the notion you can cut debt by first adding 5 trillion to it going in with more tax cuts for the wealthy, and then claim it's not going to be bankrolled on the back of the middle class. Clinton called it "trickle down double down," and the math is on HIS side of that argument.

Any math teachers out there? - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Apparently Clinton thinks we're stupid. Either that, or you teachers didn't do your job teaching us arithmetic.

Time for some personal responsibility, Conservatives - Math whiz

[ In Reply To ..]
I cannot believe how many times the conservatives on this board have tried to pass off Fox or Breitbart statistics as fact and a simple calculation has debunked it. It is usually fuzzy percentages, apples and oranges, etc. Yes, I aced college algebra, geometry, (but not social statistics--got stuck on mean deviation), but it does not take a rocket scientist to add and divide and check the "garbage in -vs- garbage out." Yes, it is scary how Conservatives will accept anything put in front of them with the glazed look in their eyes. They should have been paying attention back in 4th grade.

A rant without substance. Which numbers are you - referring to please? nm

Did you get a tingle running up your leg? - Just the same tired lies. The Emperor's new

[ In Reply To ..]
There was a time when we understood the notion of personal shame, and no one who had conducted himself as Clinton did in office--who lied under oath and was impeached for it--would have ever shown his face in public again.

I have to give old Bill credit. He knows better than anyone that we've come to tolerate almost anything...as long as you're a smooth talker.

Over 52 years, 42 million private sector jobs created by Democrats, 24 million private sector jobs created by Republicans. You can't argue with facts. LOL

No, but the libs sure make them up! - Jess

[ In Reply To ..]
;)

And where did these numbers come from? - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
As for facts...it is also fact that President Obama has spent more money during his first term than any other president EVER.

I find it amusing that when pubs are faced with - fact checking, they SM

[ In Reply To ..]
are saying we have to check the fact checkers. This happened last week as well.

The numbers you ask? - my 2 cents

[ In Reply To ..]
Well, GW left the oval office in a mess, Wall Street stole our money, and you have the audacity to state that President Obama has spent more money during his first term than any other president? Gees Louise, it doesn't take fact checkers to come to the conclusion that the good ole' USofA was on the brink of a depression, the worse since the Great Depression. That alone should be example enough of where the numbers come from. Gracious!

is this hijacking a thread? - boostraps

[ In Reply To ..]
I only ask because I was accused once of introducing another topic that wasn't stated in the thread.

You can probably research where the numbers came from. Just because he said it doesn't make it true and becuase you doubt it does not make it false.

I spent more money this year than I have EVER in any other year in my entire life. I picked up a foreclosure. I fixed it up and am renting it out. You have to spend money to make money.

As for picking up a foreclosure, good to see you're making money off the back of someone who lost their home. Are you renting it to the former owners or did they get kicked out before you bought it?
thank you for asking - bootstraps
[ In Reply To ..]
I actually did know the owner. That's how I knew it was going into foreclosure. They had other personal issues (and the house had many) and were going to move anyhow. I would have gladly rented to them.

As for your first statement, GWB did that way before Obama.
......and the debt is mostly Obama's doing. - backwards typist
[ In Reply To ..]
$5 trillion Bush added in his 8 years (8 $5T divided by 8=?) and $5 trillion added in 3-1/2 years by Obama ($5T divided by 3.5=?)....big difference...

I don't understand why some people don't see this.

Why would you buy a house that had a myriad of "issues?" Wouldn't that be more of a headache for you?
the difference - bootstraps
[ In Reply To ..]
The difference is, with the exception of having no choice but to continue to pour money into a contrived war until he ended it recently, Obama is investing in the USA and it's citizens.

Regarding the house, the myriad of issues, with a few exceptions, were superficial, but it was actually a great experience. I do have someone now who handles the rental.

[ In Reply To ..]
That I never followed Bill Clinton while he was in office. Politics didn't interest me very much and I didn't care for him as a person so didn't pay much attention.

I did listen to him last night and he's definitely a fine orator. To the veracity of his statements I can't speak, but I'm sure the talking heads will be delivering summaries of how much truth/untruth there were to his statements today. They must love elections!

Not Just Talking PointsJul 08, 2017
Every time a progressive on this board mentions what this disgusting administration is doing the right-wingers label everything liberal talking points.  There is no doubt that Trump et al are trying their best to remove as many regulations as possible that protect our food and the environment.  Scott Pruitt recently tried to loosen methane regulations and thankfully the courts told him he did not have the authority to do it.  They have already loosened food inspections which were ...

Talking PointsJul 09, 2017
The original thread is so far down the board I am going to start a new one.   I find it amusing that the right-wingers keep saying liberals are just regurgitating progressive talking points as opposed to conservatives who post only original thoughts.  We are all influenced by things we have seen and read and no one here is original. Clinton Loses 8 Points In 4 DaysOct 28, 2016
1. Trump is getting more black support than any GOP candidate since 1960. 2. Republican fence-sitters are coming home. 3. Trump will certainly take the popular vote by a significant margin. If he still loses in the electoral college, an extremely angry citizenry will demand that the antiquated and obsolete i ...

A Talking Points Memo From Bill OApr 14, 2011
This station was on when I turned on the TV this morning and his Talking Points Memo made sense and had some good points. It was about how to lower our debt. Watch if you have an open mind and give your comments whether or not you come to the same conclusion.  This is just a suggestion. I am not telling you to watch, nor do I need anyone to fill this board with comments on Bill O. That's not the point of this message, so if you can't stand him, that's fine. Just don't g ...

Last Update: June 12, 2014 575 US troops died in Afghanistan during the Bush presidency. By August 18, 2010, following two troop surges initiated by President Obama, that number had doubled. Today, over 1500 US troops have died in Afghanistan since President Obama took office—and yet, little in that war-torn country has changed. These numbers should give us pause. While the Administration has publicly conceded that there is no military solution in Afghanistan, and claimed that it support ...

Has He!! frozen over?  (Fox and Friends)  The show's mistake was to compare the official unemployment figure in 2009 with the so-called "real" unemployment figure in 2012. That figure takes into account data which is not included in the official number, such as people who have stopped looking for work. Thus, it is always higher than the official figure.
