$ 7 million in damages to the capitol building?  NOT!

http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/117409458.html

;

Perhaps they are figuring in the cost of union labor - to repair it.

You have the spackle carrier, then the spackler, then the spackle smoother, then the spackle sander, then the painter's assistants, then the painter, and the supervisors of all those folks, the project manager, and they all stop work at 4 pm and no weekends.

Should take them about what....six months to a year to get it all done?

(tongue in cheek...HOWEVER....)

What this does not address is the fact that... - what has to be repaired

[ In Reply To ..]
is MARBLE. Ya can't spackle marble, folks, and not any Tom, Dick, or Harry, be he union or not, can repair marble.

Cari Anne Renlund, chief legal counsel for the state Department of Administration, said in Dane County court that estimates of damage to marble includes $6 million to repair damaged marble inside the Capitol, $1 million for damage outside and $500,000 for costs to supervise the damage.

Instead of quoting the chief legal counsel - for the WI Dept of Administration sm

whose expertise in contracting for building repairs is questionable at best, seeing as how she is an attorney, is not even mentioned in the article, and may or may not have even toured the building, why not at least consider the following:

Plale (who accompanied the state architect on his tour) said he had not immediately observed any damage from demonstrations. Plale also said that he didn't believe the state had had any experienced contractor provide the quote on the damages.

Curran (state architectural historian) said that certain kinds of tape can leave lasting residues on the marble and wood surfaces of the Capitol IF the tape IS NOT REMOVED PROPERLY. Curran also said she didn't know HOW the state had arrived at its damage figures.

Stephans (the state architect) said Friday he had ordered the (painter's) tape sent to the Capitol during the demonstrations to minimize effects on the building.

I dunno. Somehow I just cant get the idea that 7 mil is an accurate assessment and that the only purpose for throwing out that figure in court was to try to pursuade the judge to take Walker's side. It doesn't seem to have worked, pretty much like everything else he has tried.

Bottom line....it costs much more to fix marble - than sheetrock...LOL.

[ In Reply To ..]
Come ON. lol. It is NOT going to be cheap to fix and the damage was TOTALLY unnecessary. Cutting off your nose to spite your face. Okay, let's tear it up and teach them a lesson (yeah, right, and it is YOUR tax dollars that will have to fix it). Well, if you subtract the folks bussed in from other states...they get the last laugh because the host state has to pay for any damage THEY do. lol.

angry there was any damage at all - WI MI

[ In Reply To ..]
The unions bussed in people from out of state who left damage to the capitol building (not to mention all the garbage and the extra security required) and who is left with the bill? The people of Wisconsin. So the unions paid for the busses, the union supporters made the mess, then the union people get paid by the very people they are protesting against to clean up their own mess. And they wonder why the taxpayers are upset. Am I understanding this wrong?

Sounds like you have it right to me. Doesn't - sound like the union or

[ In Reply To ..]
its members give a darn about you or what you end up having to pay, as long as they get what THEY want. Sounds pretty darned selfish to me. So much for the nobility of unions.

It seems you forget about the HUGE T-P crowds? - nm

[ In Reply To ..]

my point was who pays for clean up and who benefits - WI MT

[ In Reply To ..]
Of course I know there was a huge Walker support group, not just Tea Party, but I also know the union people camped inside the capitol for 2 weeks getting fake sick notes and being paid by the union to be there while the Walker supporters went to their jobs. The Wisconsin taxpayers pay the bill no matter who was there and no matter who made what mess, but the unions are the ones who get paid to clean it all up so the unions win no matter what.

Oh how pathetic... yeah, blame it on the TEA party.nm - HAHAHAHAHAHA

My Stupid MistakeMar 22, 2011
I wrote awhile ago about this sweet little kittie who has been hanging out at our place, sleeping on the porch to keep out of the cold and we feed it.  When I go out in back, I always walk out first and check all around to make sure the cat isn't there because our inside cat hates other cats and goes after them.  I walked out, looked around and didn't see her.  I let our cat out (we have the back area fence in so our cat can't get out), well evidently the cat was ar ...

The 14-year-old was kicked off the team after refusing to cut his hair to comply with team rules, which require boys to keep their hair short. School district officials have said that the boy has to play by the rule ...

Selfish And Stupid....A RantSep 02, 2011
I am sooo furious right now.  I know this is not anybody's business, but I have to rant!  My brother (age 33) and his wife (age 23) have a 15 month old daughter who I adore.  They do not have a car.  He does not work.  She works part-time at Walmart.  They live in a motel where my baby, innocent niece has no where to run, no where to play, one path around a bed.  When she comes to my house, it is like the tasmanian devil has been unleashed.  We have t ...

Our Stupid Self-inflicted CrisisJul 25, 2011
New York (CNN) -- Let me get this straight. The people who have been preaching the most about the dangers of American decline are right now helping to hasten American decline. Because if America defaults on its debt, not only will we find ourselves in a far deeper fiscal hole, but the full faith and credit of the United States will be compromised. In our globalized era, that means America will be considered an unpredictable partner and a second-class power. Worst of all, this will be a s ...

I really need some feedback.  I just don't know what to do.  I've been a member of an organization of a cause near and dear to my heart (hackney ponies) for about 15 years.  I became more involved in it about 6 years ago becoming a director and about 3 years designed their website and maintain it.  When the prior secretary decided to resign, she approached me about being the secretary which I wanted to do because I have a lot of ideas to help the organization. ...

The Top 10 Stupid Things Said About Health CareOct 15, 2009
By Ken Kupchik Stupid things are always said in politics, whether it's to curry favor with ill-informed constituents, or because a politician is a missing filter between his brain and mouth. Based on the level of discourse during the recent health care debate, it appears that the far right possessed the lion's share of stupid comments. Here is the cream of the crap: 10) Sarah Palin temporarily came out of book-writing reclusion to claim that a health-care overhaul would create "dea ...
