If memory serves, it would seem when it came time for heads to roll, partisans broke out their lambs-to-slaughter arguments. Now that the shoe's on the other foot, perhaps these same partisans should consult the democrats' extreme outrage playbook that evolved in the wake of thousands more deaths, and see just how far it got them in terms of compelling those involved to take personal responsibility.
IMO, the nation is too overwhelmed by what is already on their plates to endure divisive scandal-mongering in the midst of burying Newtown's dead and the polarizing storms of political rhetoric in the aftermath of the shooting and the fiscal cliff lame duck posturing. Even John Boehner had the sense to publicly recognize that Americans "don't need anymore stressors."
Of course, no one expects that will stop those determined to more forward with it. I just question how many Americans will be listening and how it will those efforts will reflect on the party who represents them. The State Department issue is not going away and no doubt, it will be a viable discussion between now and 2014. That said, given the ongoing funerals, sadness, grief and search for answers, it's not likely this is going to gain much traction, at least not until after inauguration day. The same can be said for the jobs, the economy, Obamacare and immigration, all focal issues during the campaign, that have been back-burnered for the time being.
