I just have one comment about the Affordable Care Act

Posted: Jun 29, 2012

It seems to me that a lot of MTs feel that the MTSOs are very greedy and pay slave wages.

It is my understanding that under the ACA companies with more than 50 employees will have the option of either providing medical insurance *OR* opt out and pay the less expensive penalty.

I also believe that many of these MTSOs have in excess of 50 employees, particularly the larger ones like Nuance and M*Model.

Just keep that thought in mind while you connect the dots.

I don't know what you're trying to say. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
If for some reason they opt out--which they might--then the employees buy insurance on an exchange. And who knows, it might be better and cheaper than what the companies provide now. Nuance and M Modal don't give out the insurance for free.

here's what I'm saying - Snow Bunny

[ In Reply To ..]
If companies opt out, the cost of insurance with equal benefits that they are currently getting will be much more expensive than they are currently paying through an MTSO. The reason being, companies get a group rate/discount. IOW, if somebody is paying $350/month now for family coverage, chances are it'll jump to over $500/month if they have to pay for it on their own.

Many MTs are saying that at this time they're not making enough to pay their expenses. What do you think will happen if the MTSO opts out, and the insurance they buy (for equal coverage) is much more expensive.

Anyone who has ever had Cobra knows what I'm talking about.

Snow Bunny - Some will NEVER understand

the impact until it smacks them in the face...and then some still will not get it. By 2016, a family of four making
$30,000 will be paying $2200 to $2300 MORE IN PREMIUMS ALONE (THAT'S THE LOW SIDE) under Obamacare. You haved MTs on here boohooing all the time they can't make it now. Figures listed come from the insurance exchange guidelines/projections. Sad part is, most on here are so hung up on party loyalty, they are totally clueless as to what this is going to cost them. What family of 4 making $30,000 a year can sustain another $183.33 coming out of their check monthly ON TOP OF ALL THE OTHER OBAMACARE TAXES THEY WILL BE PAYING...A TOTAL OF 93 NEW TAXES LAST COUNT. This does not take into account the massive increases the CBO states will occur due to errors in original scoring because Obama regime did not give the CBO ALL the pertinent data to score this corerctly.
A family of four making under $39,000 per year... - sm

Poverty line for a family of 4 is $23,050:

Criteria for ACA Medicaid eligibility is - 133% of poverty line, meaning
[ In Reply To ..]
incomes up to $30,656 for a family of 4 qualify, but income is not the only eligibility factor when determining who receives Medicaid coverage vs who will use the exchange. Age of policy holder and regional factors are also taken into account. That may be why Dr. Gupta used the higher $39,000 figure. It would be helpful to see the context of his full statement.
Are you referring to yourself? A family of 4 making $30,000 - will qualify for Medicaid and pay zero
[ In Reply To ..]
since that income is 128% of poverty line criteria, unless they have the misfortune of being in a red state where the gov feels he or she is sufficiently empowered to call the shots, refuse Medicaid funds and keep the family's health care needs 100% dependent on state and county subsidies and the benevolent dictator's "goodwill."

False premise crumbles misinformed arguments every time. To avoid this hazard in the future, here's a helpful little tool so you can access more accurate information next time.

Pretty easy to see - that Obamacare will cause many to lose

[ In Reply To ..]
their insurance and the companies pay the fine OR they just send more work overseas because they don't have to pay insurance for India, Mexico, etc., employees. All these MTs that worship Obama and think Obamacare is so great should be the first to experience this "hope and change" and lose their incomes. Clearly, their decision making process in impaired.

I'm a little confused. Wouldn't you rather have - your own private SM

[ In Reply To ..]
health insurance that is AFFORDABLE not tied to your employer? Think about what happens if you lose your job or you change jobs and have to get new employer based insurance? Also, what if you have a preexisting condition and you have to get new insurance? This law prevents them from denying you coverage. Why is this a bad thing for you? These MTSOs tie insurance into production. Wouldn't you prefer to have your own AFFORDABLE insurance so they cannot hold that over your head? BTW, only 2 percent of people in this country will be at risk of being "taxed" for not participating in this. 2 percent. This "mandate" is a republican idea, remember, first coming from the right leaning Heritage Foundation think tank. This "mandate" was a compromise made by Obama because he originally wanted single payer. The repubs were for this before they were against this. One of the reasons that insurance is so expensive now is because the policy holders have to shoulder the burden of those who are uninsured and go to the ER for care. I'm sure you don't like that but that is what we have. Who benefits from that? The insurance companies. The ACA will bring many more people into health insurance, and your premiums will be lowered. In the past, SS was called socialism, medicare and medicaid was called socialism and yet these programs are loved by our citizens. Please try to broaden the scope of where you are getting your information. You might be pleasantly surprised how this ACA can make your life better.

Confused is right - Oh please

You people are so sucked into the talking points, you lost any reasoning abilities. How do ANY of the following improve your quality of life or contribute to your "health" care?

Obamacare has at LEAST 21 new taxes for the middle class.

Obamacare will control 1/6 of the entire USA economy. That improves your health how exactly?

IRS having the ability sweep your financial records at any time, without your permission or knowledge. Yeah - this is DIRECTLY RELATED TO MEDICAL TREATMENT OF THAT NASTY PNEUMONIA YOU CAN'T SEEM TO SHAKE, AND HAD TO WAIT 3 MONTHS FOR AN OFFICE VISIT.

IRS will have acces to your financial records, bank accounts, AND ALL HEALTHCARE RECORDS they "deem" necessary. Sure the IRS will "deem" everything is necessary.

Obamacare cuts $ 550-Billion with a "B" in medical care to the elderly. This one REALLY improves the healthcare for anyone that worked their entire life to enjoy what they have left, only to have Obama tell them "screw you, I want to pay for the illegals, you can die".

On the sale of your house, you have to pay a 3.8% tax. Yeah - this should really improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Home care workers have to be "employed" through a federally manadated agency, under Obamacare, set up state by state, even if you are taking care of you OWN FAMILY WITHOUT ANY COMPENSATION. This is set up for a union gateway. Now this feature REALLY benefits the health of your 85-year-old mother or your disabled child, and places them on a path to a state of health they could only dream about before Obamacare.

IPAB will determine who gets care, when they get care, how much care they get REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOUR DOCTOR SAYS. - This REALLY makes for great IMMEDIATE treatment of that nasty heart condition or kidney transplant you've been putting off. Wear a helmet at all times; if you're in a car accident, it could take 6-12 weeks just to get the EMERGENCY MRI you so deperately need.

OB/GYN, surgeons, neurologist will be paid the same as a GPs. Yeah, that will encourage doctors to enter those extended study fields. That sure will expand the doctor pool for the new 20,000,000 thrown into Medicaid along with the 20,000,000 uninsured post-Obamacare due to their employers dropping them.

VA benefits are cut back. Yeah, screw the military AGAIN.

Anyone employed, udner Obamacare has to pay for the illegals, without the illegals having to pay a dime - Yeah that is a great benefit to your families health; screw over your own family to pay for someone here breaking the law.

We/I am FORCED TO PAY ABORTIONS on demand for anyone that wants one, even though it is a violation of my first amendment. Yeah - that really benefits my family's health. P.S. Save your flaming on abortions; I've heard all the twisted, sick, psychotic defense of those believing it is okay to kill a baby.

Libs want to bask in the glow of the communist getting his way, but it shows how completely totally cluless and thoughtless they are, or just don't care 'cos you think you're getting "free stuff". Take a hard look at Canada's taxes to support their health care. The UK euthanizes approximately 130,000 elderly YEARLY because they have no beds available for care.

These are just a few of the regs you're facing. Hope you are in excellent health now, 'cos under Obamacare, God is your only hope.

P.S. To clear your confused state further, NONE OF THESE REGULATIONS UNDER OBAMACARE HAVE TO BE FOLLOWED BY THE HOUSE OR SENATE, THE JACKASSES THAT PASSED THIS MONSTROSITY - THEY ARE EXEMPT FOR LIFE, HAVE PRIVATE INSURANCE WE PAY FOR SO THEY CAN SEE ANY DOCTOR, AT ANY TIME WITHOUT ANY RESTRICTIONS, unlike the restrictions Obamacare imposes on us. If you aint getting it yet, there is no hope of your eyes being opened.

argumenti ad ignorantia (appeals to ignorance or lack of evidence to the contrary) are informal logical fallacies, the premises of which arise from flawed reasoning channels that fail to produce sound conclusions from suppositon. Refusal to provide concrete existential evidence when claims are made that factual truths derive from proof withheld is textbook argumenti ad ignorantia.

My proof requires review of the entire text of HR 3590 and HR 4872. As the links provided below indicate, I am more than happy to oblige. Your proof requires an ***, then links to specific section references. Clearly, you intend to do neither. In other words, you can't, so you won't since figments of imagination do not exist and cannot be grounded in reality. Quintessential argumenti ad ignorantia. I rest my case.

Statements such as "liberals want to bask in the glow of the communist getting his way" are opinions, NOT facts. Stating that the UK "euthanizes" 130,000 citizens due to lack of beds is NOT a fact; it is a rabid assessment with no basis in truth. Further, there is nothing in the ACA that prohibits individuals from caring for loved ones at home; homecare workers reimbursed by Medicare or private insurance have ALWAYS had to be employed by a JCAHO-accredited agency.

There are a number of things I don't like about "Obamacare", but the key to working this stuff out is to talk about truth and facts - not numinous opinions and willful bias.
PSST- your post sure not fact - Try actually reading the UK stat
[ In Reply To ..]

EVERYTHING POSTED BY OP WAS IN OBAMACARE. Facts posted regarding UK care are out there for review - did you read/research them? Of course you didn't.

Those with a twisted, delusional allegiance to an incompentent pres (observation with 100% fact), is mind boggling. Especially since they, tax-wise, are going to be the hardest hit (fact). Those making less than $120,000 a year are responsible for 77% of the taxe increases under Obamacare (fact).

They key to "working this out" (opinion) is to have informed, intelligent, well versed in facts posters on this board which is missing (90% fact, 5% observation and 5% opinion).

All statements are clearly marked for those reasoning challenged and unable to see the difference (declarative statement).
that's correct, my post was opinion - ...and I have read the UK stats
[ In Reply To ..]
No, everything posted by the OP is not in obamacare, nor are the hilariously inflated euthanasia statistics supported by any data, factoid, or personal wish list.

As for "reasoning challenged", I would submit to you that "twisted, delusional allegiance to an incompentent pres" is not "100% fact". Your "declarative statement" is just another judgmental assessment.

No pre-existing exclusions.
No lifetime caps.

NEVER addressed tort reform because of Dems loyalty to lobbyists for the ambulance chasers.

Dig that hole a little deeper. You got about 30% that think Obamacare is good - bet they're part of the 47% that take a free ride from the govt. on everybody else's dime by not paying ANY Fed taxes. When the money runs out, like it always does, they are in for a rude awakening.
