How's that Freedom of Speech working for ya, Pubs?

Posted: Mar 16, 2016

Now Politico was denied entry into a Trump event.

POLITICO is far from alone among media organizations being denied entry to Trump events. The Des Moines Register, Univision, Fusion, The Huffington Post, National Review, Mother Jones and BuzzFeed have all been denied credentials to Trump's events, often after publishing critical stories about the campaign. In January, New York Times reporter Trip Gabriel was ejected from an event in Iowa after writing about Trump's weak ground game in the state, which he eventually lost to Ted Cruz.

If Trump is diong this now, what would we do if he were president?

one freedom that I lost under the current administration was my right to have or "not have" medical insurance as I saw fit. It was brought into law illegally and still remains illegal to this day. I also lost the right to purchase whichever insurance I so chose, which is no longer a "right."

That is just ONE. There are many more freedoms that the American Public has lost due to this so-called leader of the free world. I just do not have the time or inclination to post them all here, for you to just turn around and insult me. I did not insult you, nor was my post directed at you in particular personally, but you surely chose to attack me for my statements. Now who is the "parrot?"

The Obama administration also opened up the borders to illegals with STDs. Where was the public outrage? Is everyone asleep? Just another way to weaken the health our nation and strengthen our adversary.

Another grave issue is the dodgy Iran deal. The government is supposed to protect us and our posterity.

Some poster above is concerned about gun violence. What about a country that hates America and Israel soon capable of launching a nuclear missile?

[ In Reply To ..]
I just do not understand why you think that YOU have to pay for someone who has no insurance. YOU do not! YOU pay for your shit, I pay for mine. Get off the dead horse, will ya?! But then, perhaps you LIKE being forced to purchase something you do not need. Insurance is a SCAM in all aspects, but mostly in the medical arena. They take your money for years, and the second you "need" its assistance, they refuse to pay. Yup, that's the way of the world these days, and you are right in line with it. Insurance rates increase because of those that have to use it, and in that case, I am paying for YOU. It goes both ways, dumbo.
Just because you disagree with someone - do NOT call them dumbo
[ In Reply To ..]
I think everyone agrees health insurance is a scam, and it's the insurance companies who are running it and profiting off it.

We all DO have to pay for people who shirk their responsibilities, and that includes the rich executives with their gold plated TAX FREE policies they had prior to the ACA.

So name calling is not necessary. And for anyone who again questions why one would rather just "dislike" than post a reasoned explanation, this is why.

Back and forth and the one side does not believe the other and will not read anything they disagree with, and in the end nobody changes the other's mind, so why put yourself out there to be abused?

Sigh.
Name - Calling
[ In Reply To ..]
I was called a "parrot" for my point of view, so I was just "returning the favor." If I am insulted, I will insult. Everyone on this board is "putting themselves out there to be abused." including yourself.

and yes, we DO have to pay for people who shirk their responsibilities, such as not paying for their medical bills, but this also includes insurance companies raising their rates to help cover the cost of those who do not pay, but FORCING someone to have insurance is not preventing anyone from paying for those who do not. Even people who have insurance are sometimes not paying their portions, so really, technically, what good is it? Even communication companies add on a fee to help defray the cost of those who do not pay. We all have to take up the slack, so to speak. But forcing someone to have insurance is not exempting anyone from paying for those who do not pay. It just makes no sense to think it does.
Parrot implies you were parroting something - Dumbo means you are dumb

Healthcare costs and insurance or not - all smiles
[ In Reply To ..]
For those who do not get sick, do not use the health system, great. Problem is, if you don't, chances are when you do need the health system, you won't be able to afford it.

Imagine not paying taxes for police and fire. Of course you don't use the police and fire all the time (at least not directly), but can you imagine what you would have to pay if you paid per incident? You could not afford that either.

In fact, whether you do buy or do not buy health insurance, you still pay for it. Part of your tax dollars goes to hospitals who have to stabilize the medically indigent (that translates into people who have no insurance). The government pays those hospitals so much annually out of your tax dollars for those medically indigent.

Some of those medically indigent (without health insurance) have nice homes, nice cars, take great vacations, and apparently think they will never get sick. When they do, because they have no insurance, they either don't pay or pay very little. Eventually it gets written off wherein their tax dollars pay for it anyway.

The same goes for medication. There is now an "indigent medication" funded in part by the pharmaceutical companies which of course increases the cost of your medication because big pharma is not going to eat that cost - they will shift the cost onto you - you will pay more for your medication because of those with no health insurance who get their meds from the indigent medication fund.

To carry the "I don't need it, so I won't buy it" just a little further, in case you don't get the picture, stop using the roads at all. After all, you probably don't need them either. Then see how your food will get to your store.

Some things in a society are meant to be covered by all in that society because they are just too expensive unless everybody chips in.

If you choose not to use your insurance much, fine. At least it will be there when you do need it. Given the longevity in this country, at some point you will need it.

Severe pain brings everybody to the ER.
Sounds - Like
[ In Reply To ..]
a communist republic to me.... YOU work, GIVE everything to the government... the GOVERNMENT will give you what you need...maybe... after an "approval process" to determine the actual need.

I work. I pay taxes, probably more than the rich guy cause that's the way it has been developed. Those that have...Keep. Those that do not have... give to the rich so they can keep theirs. As long as I pay taxes, I am entitled to the services it supposedly provides, such as fire and police protection, road use, etc. That is not the same as being FORCED to buy insurance and allowing the insurance companies to dictate cost, and then being "allowed" to refuse care when they so desire. I am not rich. I do not have an expensive home, drive a 15-year old vehicle, haven't had a vacation in like 20 years, but if I got sick and needed care, I would be able to pay for it myself and would not shirk that responsibility to everyone else. That's the way it is supposed to be. I pay for mine. You pay for yours. You are just assuming that those who do not want to buy health insurance are deadbeats and refuse to pay. You are placing me in that category and I find that quite insulting. I am retired and on Medicare now...which I paid for with my tax dollars from working over the past 50 years! It is something that Social Security was put in place for, and there would be enough money in SS to cover everybody's needs, if the government hadn't gotten greedy and stolen from it. I object to the word "FORCE." as in "you either buy this astronomically costing insurance or we will fine you until you do" type of attitude. No matter what some of you seem to think, it is not a "crime" to not have insurance. This "affordable" insurance is NOT that affordable and really does a person no good anyway due to the exceedingly high deductibles and the insurance companies lack of paying for what is needed. It is just another SCAM to extract money from people under the disguise of "helping" them, when all they are really doing is "helping themselves." The American public pays enough in taxes for this country to be able to run itself without demanding more from its people. Since they cannot tax the public more than they already are and not providing the services it is meant to provide with that money, they devised another way to "take" from everybody. It is a political thing more than a "helping" thing. They take from everybody... give it to third world countries for weapons, drugs, etc and then we have to do without because they gave our money to someone else.

I am rambling here. I will shut up. You have your opinions stuck in your head, whether they are right or wrong, and you will not change your ideas. I have my opinions stuck in my head and I cannot/will not see your supposed side of it, so you just stay in your corner, and I will stay in mine. You will not win this argument with me. I apparently see much more clearly what is going on in this country than you do, so you just keep your head where it is and stop trying to convince me that you are right... because you are not. signing off.
Stating the situation - all smiles
[ In Reply To ..]
Not arguing with you, merely stating the way the system is currently set up.

Unless you pay property taxes, you do not pay for police or fire in most areas. Very little is taken out of "income" taxes for police or fire as many cities/towns do not levy income taxes. Most cities/towns do not get much from sales tax because most of that goes to the state and very little returns to the community.

Hence, the only real way to cover the cost of police and fire is through property taxes. If you have property, you are paying for police/fire/safety. If you rent, it is passed along to you by your landlord.

If you decided you did not want to pay for police/fire but just paid when you needed it, you'd be absolutely shocked at the price for one single incident.

If there were not so much healthcare, as before the mid 1970s, then health insurance would not be so high. Back then, there were few tests to be done and not much in the way of high-priced diagnostics, so healthcare was much less expensive.

Today, there is a plethora of diagnostic testing that is prohibitively expensive for most people, even their own portion (mine is 25% after a whopping 2500 deductible).

Don't know where you live, but where I live, if you do not have health insurance, you will NOT see you at all, even if you promise to pay up front. So, you go to the ER and the provide you basic care that will stabilize you.

The government didn't make that rule. The providers did. They will not see you unless you provide valid health insurance. They want to get paid.

Trump is a master at creating conflict. I used to watch his show "The Apprentice". Fearing personal attacks on themselves, people would in turn begin to direct personal attacks to their competing teammates.

Although I am registered as a dem, I have in the past voted for Pubs if I thought they were the best. For myself, I believe in voting for the best person, regardless of their party. However, I must admit Trump scares me. Just the things he says about women sets me back. The dirty comment he made about Hillary was offensive--like something you would hear in a locker room, but certainly not from a potential POTUS. And yes, I have a passing familiarity with Yiddish, and when I heard him say that word on national television I was shocked. But his vulgarity is the least of his problems. Look behind the bluster and see. Hitler was charming, too. He was very kind--to those he loved.
