He isn't finished yet - President Obama vows to
Posted: Jun 27, 2015
President Obama isn’t going to sit back and enjoy his administration’s victory. Obama is looking to expand the reach of the law by getting more people covered. The President can do this by aggressively promoting the law. He doesn’t need Congress, or a new piece of legislation.
The administration has been quietly at work trying to persuade those states that haven’t expanded Medicaid to do so. The President can use the platform of the presidency to aggressively promote the law.
The political battlefield has shifted from President Obama and Democrats defending the law to Republicans being knocked back on their heels as healthcare in the United States is changing forever.
President Obama is moving forward, and the Republican Party’s bad week just got a whole lot worse.

I'm sort of enjoying this lame duck session!

You work in the medical field. Have you seen expansion of facilities to accommodate millions of newly insured? I have not. Older physicians are being let go. ICD10 should be the first indication this medical insurance plan is a cull. Take a pain full and get back with us in a year. Deductibles and copays will be exhausted and then the long line will cause another year to arrive with new copays and deductibles.
America is broke. You have no money. Republican manifesto by the elite to never raise taxes is just one stake in the heart of your nation. the Jobless economy is the other. Unfunded 200 trillion dollars of liabilities 18+ trillion dollars to The central bank, Japan, China, etc etc is hanging over your head like a hammer. Can't you see it? Do you think this will go away? Where do you think the money will come from to pay these institutions? At this point, only the interest is being paid. If interest rates are raised, the 18+ trillion will compound (see: Collapse of Roman Empire for children).
Happy gays and gayettes? Hope that the new owner of the real estate does not present a Paragraph which concludes society rejects you. It's just an election away. Nothing is this good when fascism is the theme on the ground.
First act of an invading army is taking over the airwaves and interrupting communications.
but hey - The Bread and Circuses seem to be enough for you. Carry on! But don't say we did not warn you.
Also enjoying - Blanche

I'm enjoying this as well. I like the idea of more of my fellow citizens having insurance, and thus being able to afford medical care if and when they need it.

Must be nice. Glad everyone is enjoying it. I have insurance, which I pay for (no subsidy for me). My deductibles are so high that I will NEVER be able to actually use the insurance. So, you see, only some people benefit. The rest of us just pay more and more for basically nothing.
And that's different to what we had before how? - Not at all in my experience

The insurance we get from MTSOs has always been thus, and now that our pay has been halved, most of us don't even have the option to take the better version because it would take our entire pay (I used to pay $200/week for insurance that was more comprehensive from an MTSO - the thing was I was making $50,000-60,000 so it was possible).
I think there are a few more pieces to click into place with the ACA that might help us. The whole thing was supposed to make it more portable - how is it portable if we can't buy (reasonably priced) insurance because we are forced to accept the garbage grandfathered insurance provided by the greedy MTSOs?
I have yet to do much research on this, but I do believe eventually the grandfathered policies will need to get better or get out, and if the MTSOs decide they would rather pay a fine than provide insurance, all I can say is Yay!
I think what some don't realize is that before Obamacare most of us were dealing with what they are now dealing with - high deductibles, terrible coverage, and paying a premium with really no hope of using it. The only difference is now we are forced to buy something or pay a fine.
But I have to say I am more hopeful than before because I absolutely LOVE that some people can get health insurance with pre-existing conditions, I absolutely LOVE that some who really need it can get health insurance that doesn't break the bank and covers them for serious health problems.
I don't happen to be one of them, yet, but I like that it exists and I do think it will get better for the likes of us.
That's all part of the plan. Less and less insurance companies means - less competition, which means

higher prices, and eventually no one will be able to afford it. That means it will go out of business. You know what's left.

I pay over $800 a month for my employer based insurance for my husband and myself and I have not used it in over a year. I cannot afford all the copays. So I am glad that those of you who are getting subsides are getting them but what about those of us who don't get subsides and have huge copays that if some major illness happens to us we will end up bankrupt.
Do the math, before this lovely shift of insurance, my husband had a surgery, that bill came out to 13,000+. Now all we paid was $250.00 deductible. If that same surgery were to happen today, we would have to pay $2,600 and that is only if his deductible was met for the year which is $650.00 before insurance picks up a penny.
I guess so every one who did not have insurance before can now have it I should be so thrilled to pay out of pocket that kind of money so you can have free or very cheap insurance. Sorry but my responsibility is not to you or your family it is to mine and my family. So dislike all you want. But I am sick of paying for people who don't want to do for themselves. If that so happens to be be you sorry, but that is my reality. What's the government giving you? Nothing. Those of us that have insurance are pulling up the slack with higher premiums and large copays and deductibles.
Just another form of welfare and nothing more.
You are giving a very specific example of - your insurance previous
[ In Reply To ..]
I can guarantee you this policy was NOT one you had via an MTSO because the insurance pre ACA was not a lot different to what it is now.
Obviously, that was a great policy, but why you think it is Obamacare's fault that you now have higher premiums and high deductibles and so forth I do not get - it is the insurance companies that do that.
Also, who has free or very cheap insurance thanks to you having to pay more? None of us who work for MTSOs do. It's pretty much exactly the same as what we had before (unfortunately). We are all in the same boat I'm afraid.
Now the illegals can get it. It's not sustainable. - We are Greece, or maybe Zimbabwe. xxx

No subsidies here, either. Insurance deductible up another $600 to $3600 - HSA down $500 to $1000
[ In Reply To ..]
Mine HSA was depleted for this year already because of meds and hospital bills before the deductible was met.
No spring chicken either. It's only going to get worse.
Freeloaders - That ilk
[ In Reply To ..]
"I am sick of paying for people who don't want to do for themselves"
What about the people who want to, but cannot pay for themselves? The frequent claim that recipients are freeloaders is a lie the anti-ACA crowd tells themselves to bolster their confidence in their opinions.
So other than the MTSOs and insurance companies - stealing from you-BIG surprise
[ In Reply To ..]
some of us have insurance in other ways, and mine has not changed greatly, other than the deductible is $300 instead of $0 over the past 5 years ($100 was in there somewhere) and now there is no lifetime max, copays up $5, a little here and there, nothing much different than the prior 10 years. Premiums up a bit, but not as much as in the years before Obama.
Perhaps you weren't around when MTSOs offered NOTHING--NADA, no insurance, no time off, no benefits whatsoever. That was the beginning of MTSOs. Of course, they paid better too, and were smaller. This is just capitalism folks, enjoy or not....maybe democratic socialism would be better? Ringing any bells? Feeling the Bern?

If you like your insurance and don't mind the cost, great. I was just stating how it is for me, and many others I know. The insurance was never all that great, but I used to have copays, which were affordable, and a 500 deductible. Now no copays, it's all on me until the deductible is met, which is 2500. This deductible also applies to prescriptions. So basically I can pay for health insurance, and then pay for my own healthcare too. That may be "affordable" to you, but not for me and my situation.
I just don't think it is "Obamacare" at fault - other forces bound to keep or make their money
