the big 5-0...$3,580,000 of them at the sit-down dinner and another $120,000 at the sold-out birthday bash concert. And guess what? He didn't have to create a couple of disappearing phantom businesses to hide the loot behind and instead opted to be as transparent as cellophane, huh?

I feel bad and also just astounded - sm

First I feel bad that he is looking so old this soon. Although I say that with every president. Clinton and Bush seemed to get old really fast too. Couldn't pay me enough to do the job.

Next I don't think astounded is the right word. I guess shocked is more appropriate that he is so out of touch with reality. He cares nothing about the economy and the people of the country, but is focusing all of his time on his big bash and his next election. That's it. I just don't get why someone wants to be the President of the US, but then shows he doesn't care about the people of the country. I guess I just can't really understand that one. I get it that he wants to do something for his birthday, nothing wrong with that, but in these hard economic times with so many people suffering I just think it's in bad taste. If I was president and it was my birthday I would hire a good chef to come and make me and my family something special, then go to a movie premier or something like that. I just wouldn't blatantly flaunt my careless attitude around no matter how rich I was. I just think in these hard times there could be a better compromise. I guess it's just very sad that this is happening.

Just curious...what do you think he should be doing right now? - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Congress has all left for vacation. With the same technology that enables us to work from home, he can keep in touch with his people on the ground.

What exactly do you think he should be doing that he isn't? Should he be pacing the halls at the White House waiting until the Tea Party creates another snafu? Should he be pacing the Rose Garden waiting for Eric Cantor to beg forgiveness for being a butt nugget?

What exactly do you think he should be doing that prevents him from taking a couple hours away from work to celebrate one of those milestone birthdays?

I would also assume using your reasoning that since you can take time away from schedule to post here that your life is perfect, you have no financial worries and are beaching just because you like the sound of your own voice, and have no life outside this board.

Yup. You said it better than I could. - nm

That post was in response to the post before it staying he should not be taking time to celebrate his birthday. I believe if you need help in the down and indent way that forums flow, a google search may be able to provide you some forums 101 education.
No need to apologize. It is constitutionally impossible - for

Forgot about my post here - My reply

Sorry, been busy with work I forgot to check this post. Okay, here's what I would do if I was in the position.

1. I'd fire Geitner.
2. I'd hire someone who has an education and experience when it comes to the treasury. Ya know, since the job deals with the countries economy and so many American's lives depend on this, maybe someone who knows what they are doing would be a good choice, doncha think?
3. I'd tell all the people in congress that they are taking a pay cut until the country is back in order.
4. I'd tell the media to knock off all the negativity and lies because every one who lives in the US is an American. We all work, pay or taxes, and are trying to make a living. Just because they don't all have the same viewpoint doesn't mean that some are less than others.
5. I'd make an announcement that falsely accusing others of racism is to stop NOW.
6. I'd still have my birthday "bash" but because the country is bankrupt and so many Americans are suffering I wouldn't flaunt my money around acting like I was a King or something. I'd still celebrate, but on a little lower key. Just kind of sends a message to the country that we have a president who is actually aware of the crisis the country is going through instead of the "Let them eat cake" attitude. I guess every birthday could be considered a "milestone" birthday. Not every day you turn 40, or 41, or 42, or 48, or 59, etc, etc (understand? No, I didn't think so). Yeah, I guess you could call it a milestone. Not everyone runs the country into bankruptcy by 50 then throws an extravagant birthday party to celebrate it (which, yes, by the way they had a big hand in the financial crisis, so don't even go there)

Next, do you know the saying about "assume" because per your own words you just did and it sure does ring true. I work and I am allowed breaks in which I can do anything I want to and sometimes I post here. So because I post here you think my life is perfect??? Working a lot to pay those taxes your fave government officials are raising on me. My life is far from perfect thanks to the current crowd. It really sucks when you live in a town that is bankrupt, no jobs for spouses, but you can't move to another town because with this current administration nobody is hiring.

So you go and assume that because I post on the board here that I have no financial worries and that my life is perfect? Huh??? That does not even make sense. But then I wouldn't expect it to, because darlin you seem to think that typing is the sound of a voice. Unless our fingers have learned how to speak speak there is no sound of a voice. Hmmm....

But oh, I do love the beach and the sound of the ocean. Think I'll go this weekend.

Have a good one.

Happy Birthday To Someone Deceased- I Just Jan 19, 2010
Reading the obit column this morning from my home town. There was a lady who was killed about a month or so ago. She must have been well loved because so many have posted about her. This morning I am reading again and she is wished a "Happy Birthday." i see this time and time again in the papers and wondering, how do you have a happy birthday when deceased? I think writing something in rememberence about the person a much better way than wishing them a happy. ...

Happy 30th Birthday, Central AmericanJul 17, 2014
It's been fun to watch the media discuss the border crisis in real time, improvising their arguments on the fly. Let's try A, and if that doesn't work, we'll try B. First, they said there was no surge at the border -- it was a phony crisis manufactured by the Drudge Report. The facts on the ground quickly made that argument inoperable. Next, liberals told us these "undocumented migrants" (the PC phrase for "illegal aliens" -- because we'll never figure out what t ...

Obama Is So Happy That Clinton's Meltdown Is TakingOct 31, 2016
This from the Washington Post, of all places: "Once the hope candidate, Obama in his final days faces a hopeless electorate." Barack Hussein Obama will go down in history as the very worst President this nation has ever had, one who presided over a shocking decline in this nation's standing in the world, the calamitous spread of Islamic extremism, a flood of illegal immigrants the like of which has never been seen before, an economy that has staggered through the worst "recovery" in histo ...

Birthday PartyDec 11, 2009
My son, who is turning 14 on Sunday, invited 12 of his friends from school over tonight for a sleepover pizza/birthday party.  I figured that out of the 12 he invited, at least a few wouldn't be able to make it.  The last few years he has only invited 6 or 7.  Can you believe that all 12 showed up!  The noise level is ridiculous, but everybody is having a lot of fun.   Gonna go take some pictures in a minute.      ...

Here's how my b-day went. Got up early to work.  Had work today, so not complaining about that, but was working on my b-day, instead of doing something nice for me.  I sat and thanked God at least I had work, and told myself its just another day. Then taxes were due.  We owe.  Lovely! for part of the pipeline.  Regardless of how he feels about continued use of oil for energy, he's gotta admit that it will at least put Americans to work....and God knows we need that.  However, I still don't get why he talks about green energy and opposed this pipeline for the longest time before agreeing to it....when he funded off shore drilling in Brazil.  I guess I don't get the double standard there.  We give aid to Brazil for drilling and yet Obama seems ...

Did President Obama Know About The VA Problems?May 19, 2014
