and all the gun huggers in the Romney stump speech/NRA audience nodded their heads and applauded in unison. The candidate tried to dance around Nugent's reference to a recent conversation they had where Mitt assured him he would protect all guns and hold the 2nd Amendment above all others while failing to directly address the "metaphoric" violence-laced endorsement. All GOP leaders, officials, pundits and supporters followed suit and heaved a collective "no biggie" sigh of indifference as nary-a-one of them had the political courage or ethical fortitute to denounce the highly offensive nature of the rhetoric.
Now that the filthy draft dodger (who showed up at the draft board packing poop in his pants), family values deadbeat baby daddy of 8 and self-confessed pedophile has been released from Secret Service oversight, some of those same emboldened supporters have taken to this board to indignantly denounce the near-identical kind of metaphoric rhetoric used at a Wisconsin rally while smearing the speakers from here to kingdom come. The rally was held only 3 days after Nugent's appalling remarks were plastered all over the media, leading any rational person to conclude that there was a "what's good-for-the-goose-is-good-for-the-gander" intent behind the speaker's intent. Evidently, this tongue-in-cheek political parody flew right over their heads and they are now left choking on a dose of their own medicine.
These ridiculous and stunning displays of hypocritic hubris are becoming all too commonplace on this forum but, last time I checked, ALL PARTIES INVOLVED (AFL-CIO speakers included) enjoy the same 1st Amendment rights under the Constitution, as has been affirmed by the Secret Service investigation determination. I am left scratching my head and at a loss to comprehend exactly how this highly-evolved GOP double standard stuff is supposed to work.
;There were so many lovely descriptive words in your post. So, can we assume you're not a Ted Nugent fan? Just kidding. I'm wondering, though, where this thought came from: "some of those same emboldened supporters have taken to this board to indignantly denounce the near-identical kind of metaphoric rhetoric"
I read a little down the board and I'm not able to find anyone being an "emboldened supporter" of Ted. ?? I can't find a post supporting his rant. First Amendment rights are one thing, but if they become threats (like Ted and the AFL-CIO), it's a cause for concern. With that same line of thinking, one could certainly throw this back at the liberals and ask: where's the outrage of the vile rhetoric coming from the AFL-CIO leader? I'm not seeing on the board. Did I miss it? Oops, do you think it went over my head? I did notice the 2 "dislikes" and that tells me that some people on this board will not denounce that rhetoric and actually suport it. THAT, to me, is frightening.
As for your condescendingly remarks, "...leading any rational person...flew right over their heads..." Seriously?? I can assure you that I am very rational person and absolutely nothing flew over my head. Oh, and I'm not choking on a dose of anything.
So, having the "political courage or ethical fortitute to denounce" I guess that would apply to the $1million Obama PAC donor and so-called "comedian" Bill Mahr? Still waiting for the Dem leadership to show, as you say, the political courage or ethical fortitute to denounce his disgusting comments. (insert crickets here)
And by the way, I applaud Romney for supporting our 2nd Amendment rights. I guess, as Obama would say, I'm just one of those bitter clingers.
