Feds dangle $12,000 bonus to firms that hire foreign students.

expand a program that pays U.S. employers to hire foreign STEM students taught in America, a move that could end up punishing American college grads and even the elderly, according to an immigration think tank.
Currently, the program urges companies to hire STEM students for a year. CIS said firms are paid up to $10,000 to participate. The new proposal, said CIS, is to add on another year and $2,000 in bonuses.

or unemployment taxes. This makes them much more desirable than domestic employees. Also, the affirmative action mandate is met by employing them. Finally, the companies can face sanctions, fines, and even criminal action if they do not hire H1B visa holders.
With DHS having jurisdiction over such a program, do we even need Congress anymore?

they also have not much of anything. They do not have health care, they do not have retirement funds, no food stamps, no welfare, no Medicare when elderly, enough money to eek by on and pay rent and food only and barely that. I know a family of 5 that this applies to. The husband does tree work, cutting down, tries to work year round even in the winter outside, the wife does domestic jobs. The kids want things that the parents do not have the money for but as the mother told me living here is better than the threat of being murdered where they did live, always looking over your back.

If people want to get here there is basically no way they will be stopped. Where there's a will, there's a way. There is one thing I want to know though, how can a non-documented person vote here when they cannot get a job without US identification, and the other things American citizens have, like food stamps, welfare, SS and the like.

See, identify theft can work more than one way.

College students are being lied to. They are being told to focus on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers, while their own government is undermining their efforts by giving bonuses to companies that hire foreign students.
Then, as more and more foreign students are hired (just as with H1B), the average American will be convinced that the foreigners must be smarter and Americans just cannot cut it. And the ruse will continue...

Congress controls the supply of physicians by how much federal funding it provides for medical residencies — the graduate training required of all doctors.
In 1997, to save money and prevent a doctor glut, Congress capped the number of residents that Medicare will pay for at about 80,000 a year. Another 20,000 residents are financed by the Veterans Administration and Medicaid, the state-federal health care program for the poor. Teaching hospitals pay for a small number of residents without government assistance.

Although I do not understand your "socialized" medicine comment. Most of our health care is private insurance--including Obamacare health insurance exchanges. I guess Medicare and MA could be considered semi-socialized, although you choose your provider and Medicare is a benefit we have all paid into for protection in our old age. MA is primarily for the disabled and children in poverty. I guess the VA system is really only the "true socialism" because they have designated hospitals, but I think the doctors are military?
I would appreciate what your research has to say. I would have loved to have been a doctor, but never thought I could afford to go to school for that long without any financial support. I think that many of the Indian and Asian docs have a lot of family putting them through school and that the docs then send money home. I may be wrong on this, though.

[ In Reply To ..]
DS is in med school and preference this year seemed to be for OOS and out of country students who paid full price for tuition. The hype is that applicants from say India and China have exceptional MCAT scores and (whatever their equivalent) GPA's. It's not true...the posted averages for the class do not rise but, I think the money incoming for the student body is doubled (and maybe tripled).
The problem is that a lot of hospitals don't like non-native English speakers so the rotation can be tricky. But I think mostly it's a cash bonanza for the schools.
