DISGRACEFUL VIOLATION OF RIGHTS: Feds investigate

Let's get something straight. When the Islamists erupted, few if any had ever seen the video that has been used as the "cover" for what are pretty obviously orchestrated terror attacks, not a true "Muslim uprising".

Hillary Clinton and the White House have blamed this little, insignificant, relatively unnoticed video for uprisings around the world.

This, of course, because the Obama administration has NEVER come to grips with the extent, the global reach or the implications of Islamist terrorism...and because they are determined to deny that THEIR policies have led directly to the emboldening of these groups.

So what do they do next?

First, they try to strong-arm YouTube into removing the video. This is the sort of government censorship you would have only expected to see in Russia, Communist China, or being practiced by Hugo Chavez.

Now, we have pictures of the police taking the filmmaker in for "questioning". This calls to mind the kind of thing that authorities did in China during the "purge".

What happened is very simply this:

1. The feds put on a show and made sure that the photos of the filmmaker in police custody were globally distributed.

2. No one thought he had violated anything.

You can trust me on this one. I was a cop, and you won't find a cop alive who believes in "coincidences" like this one. "Might have violated parole indeed" - and we just happen to have the press with us!

I suppose some will believe all of this just like it's being fed to them, but it's a real good idea if people grow up intellectually at some point in their lives. We all need to think for ourselves.

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula's wrap sheet and bio includes both state and federal charges plus probation violations. Seems like a former cop would know how to research this stuff, but I guess not. Whatever.

IMO, it’s best wingers know to whose defense they are rushing toward:

Financial woes

1. Lien in the amount of $106,000 filed in 1997.

2. CA State Board of Equalization tax lien of $191,000 filed in 2006 for back taxes, interest and penalties on his gas station (1989-1992).

3. Filed for bankruptcy in 2000.

Criminal record

1. In 1997 Nakoula pled guilty to charges of intent to manufacture methamphetamine after LA County Sherriff’s department busted him for possession of ephedrine, hydroiodic acid and $45,000 in cash. He got 1 year in the county jail and 3 years probation.

2. In 2002, he violated probation and served another year in county jail.

3. In 2010, he pled no contest to FEDERAL charges of bank fraud, which involved opening dummy bank accounts using stolen IDs (one from a 6-year-old kid) and SS#s, then deposited checks from those accounts which he would then turn around and withdraw funds against from the ATM. He’s used at least 13 documented alter identities. He was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison and ordered to pay $794,701 in restitution. During his down time, he wrote the script for the “Innocence of Moslems,” formerly entitled "Innocence of Bin Laden," the full-length feature shown in the Hollywood premier that flopped bigtime. He was already under police surviellance when that happened earlier this year.

4. Upon his release in June 2011, terms of his probations included an order forbidding his use of a computer FOR 5 YEARS without explicit permission of his probation officer. He lived in a halfway house until just a few weeks before he filmed the piece of trash.

5. He violated the terms of his FEDERAL probation when he uploaded the film to the internet, meaning the feds were perfectly justified in bringing him in for questioning....don't you agree, Officer Trust Me?

Here's what you, I and a child of seven know, now that the info is out there. Numbers 3,4 and 5 more than amply explain why Nakoula was picked up. The "BTW, it was the LACSD" post has covered the sparse press presence and the lone LA Time photographer present at the dwelling after midnight when the encounter occurred....which police had tried to disperse earlier that day, but had no authority to enforce on account of 1st amendment rights, which are the cornerstone of our democracy.

No need to think of a parolee being picked up for questioning with a gaggle of yada, yada, yada, since it didn't go down that way. FYI, the Arab Street is not alone in calling for justice when hate speech rises to the level of incitement to violence and rioting and contributes to the death of American US embassy staff and diplomats. Check out US AND international statutes that may apply here, which the US has signed onto and ratified. I only hope they turn up something during the investigation that allows them to shell out the same treatment to the Pastor of Hate down in Florida. He's long overdue.

I think the first step in the direction of justice would be for the lone photographer and the few reporter night owls camping out on the curb to get as many photos of the man as they possibly can, plaster them, along with the reports of the (w)rap sheet and financial woes, all over the media, and post as many videos to YouTube as is humanly possible. After all, that's what he did with his blasphemous hatred and stupidity. Once that's done, then let the courts take care of the rest.

Earlier that day, the press had been camped out at his home in Cerritos when LACSD escorted two attorneys into the dwelling earlier on Friday but all involved pretty much stayed mum with the press, except one attorney who identified himself as Steve Seiden. It was later revealed by U.S. courts spokeswoman Karen Redmond of the Central District of California that parole violations were being investigated, since Nakoula was not allowed to own or use a computer, nor was he allowed to allow anyone else to access one on his behalf.

When the LACSD picked him up later, they waited until after the press had disappeared, except for an LA Times photographer and a few determined stragglers who had remained behind. Guess that free speech/free press thing applies to them, so the cops weren't able to insure his complete privacy, but in any case, it was not the "Feds" who "put on a show."

Evidently, based on what the determined during the earlier visit, they felt he had violated something, or they would not have brought him in for questioning. The LA Times article was posted around 4 a.m.

There is no proof at this point that orchestrated PLURAL terror attacks occurred. The Libyan and Cairo initial outbreaks rapidly became contagious across the region for a variety of reasons, many of which have direct correlation with media wildfires burning out of control. It is not surprising that the Libya horror is being investigated as a coordinated effort by AQ “elements,” since those now in custody have provided those leads, given the weakened security in a country undergoing fundamental structural transition and the economic factors which make it vulnerable to terrorist insurgence. Similar conditions exist in Egypt and other Arab Spring countries, but are NOT part of the picture in other player locales, such as India and Indonesia.

It is not possible to generalize anti-Muslim sentiments out of equation with say-it-ain’t-so extremist partisan rhetoric, especially since things are still evolving. It is also not possible to discount the role the trailer may or may not have played at this stage but, simply put, had the video not been produced, there would be nothing new for terrorist organizations to manipulate.

To say this is not a true “Muslim uprising” is utter nonsense. In realtime, the first objective should be US response that aims to curb the violence and put a stop to the demonstrations. In cable interviews and in dialogs taking place all over the Middle East, the US failure to effectively address not only the filmmakers but also the more widespread top-to-bottom anti-Muslim jihad the right has launched is the single-most stated concern the PROTESTERS identify as their flashpoint.

Therefore, I see no gains to be made in hoisting the responsibility for THAT on Obama’s shoulders, where it clearly does not belong. In the final analysis, it is the GOPs refusal to denounce their extremists’ hate-mongering (as opposed to trying to cashing in on it at the polls) that has brought us to this point. Obama’s effective anti-terrorism policies are precisely what the GOP is not able overcome, especially since they selected a team that is so clueless in this arena. To blame these policies while denying direct culpability in the proliferation hate-speech is hypocritical hubris at its worst and, as we can all see, has done immense damage to our foreign policy initiatives and is now threatening our national security.

There were no such “strong arm” WH censorship tactics. There was a meager request for YouTube and Google to “consider” reviewing the movie trailer for terms-of-use violation, NOT a formal request to take it down. Big difference. As it turns out, YT had already blocked access to it in India, Indonesia, Libya and Egypt under its own initiative.

In fact, the site requires a COURT ORDER or official government notification before removing illegal content FROM THE COUNTRY WHERE IT OPERATES. Since the contents of the trailer had already been reviewed for TOU violations and found to be in compliance, they did not act on the WH request, the implication being that the trailer’s removal from those sites came at the official request of the countries named above. That would render your outlandish government censorship references to Russia, China and Hugo Chavez moot, moot, moot.

I hope the routine questioning in the course of this ongoing investigation results in MORE DEFINITIVE consequences for those involved in making that film….not the ones who inadvertently got sucked into the elusive Sam Bacile’s ulterior motives or Terry Jones’s never-ending quest to incite violence…but for the major players whose cowardly “free speech” defense should not hold up under the scrutiny of existing US and international incitement statutes.

The only jihadists arms I see here are the ones who want to pretend hate speech doesn’t matter and that no consequences should be paid by those whose contributions to these deadly protests are now being examined with a fine-tooth comb.

Thank you for posting the truth about this horrible situation. These angry, hate-filled postings are doing nothing but playing into the Jihadist's plans to divide this country. You so eloquently laid out the facts. Until we stop all this hatred against a candidate and focus our criticism on fact-based disagreements with the policies, this country will never return to the great country it once was. We need to learn to work together and make our politicians do the same. We became a great country by the 2 parties working together to come to the best decision for everyone, not just one side. Most of us are in the middle of the political spectrum and would like our laws and our country to respect both sides of the party and enact laws that serve everyone.

neither Islam nor the Prophet were its primary focus. It was in interview format with real people, not actors, and was filmed in Salt Lake City, the Vatican and Jerusalem. Participants include real live human beings (as opposed to blasphemous, hateful caricatures) that included Scientologists, Mormons, Christians, Hasidic Jews and Jews for Jesus. These devout folks voluntarily contributed their own perspectives to Q&A interviews and were not fleeced by a director who dubbed voice-overs to replace parts of the original scripts the actors delivered to create a hateful monstrosity.
