Do Democrats see anything wrong with Obama?

Posted: Oct 25, 2012

I have stated in many posts that I don't always agree with the Republican presidents, but I have yet to see one Democrat say one thing they disagree with with Obama.

;

I've stated on this board numerous times...sm - JTBB

things I don't like about Obama. However, on those issues, he's still to the left of Romney, so Obama gets my vote. I guess until I'm elected president, I won't see a president I completely agree with 100% :D

I have not read all your post, so I apologize to you - JC

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't like leftist policies so it is not possible for me to like what Obama does or vote for him.

There are plenty of socialist countries you can live in, have you ever considered moving there instead of trying to change our country?

Wow...sm - JTBB

[ In Reply To ..]
You state you have not read my posts, so you obviously have no idea what policies I may or may not agree with Obama on, and yet you conclude my preference must be socialism.

FYI: BOTH parties "try to change" our country, just in different directions. So, what makes you think you have any superior claim to this country over anyone else such that you feel you should suggest to others that they should leave?
There is no other America, but what Obama wants to -

Because I think the state of current government is not in line with the constitution - JC
[ In Reply To ..]
The government has overreached.

I think the income tax should be abolished. There has been a transfer of people helping each other to the government doing it and the government has bastardized it. I have worked for state government for 20 years and so much money is wasted and the stated goals are just never reached. Look at the so called war on poverty. We certainly haven't won it despite trillions of dollars spent on it.

I didn't say you were socialist, I said Obama was. His mentors growing up wre socialist, he hung out with socialist teachers (he admitted this in his autobiography), he belonged to a black separatist church (they carry socialist books for sale in their church), he believes in redistribution of wealth, etc., etc.
The original Constitution had 10 Amendments. - Today we have 27.
[ In Reply To ..]
It changed over time by design and intent. Both parties did that. I know cons hate this concept, but it is a dynamic document, not a Decalogue etched in stone. Deal with it. If you think there is government overreach, there are prescribed remedies, just like there are for those who through time have identifed the need to augment it. That is as it should be and the way our Founding Fathers intended.

The rest of your post with all it's "I-I-I's" is just useless fodder for the hate mongers. Bores me to tears.
Oh arrogant one, so what there are 27 amendments - JC
[ In Reply To ..]
Amendment 10 specifically states that "Powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

The Federal government has overreached using the "general Welfare" statement in the first paragraph.

You apparently don't care that the Federal government just keeps growing and growing and growing. That the Federal governemnt just keeps increasing the monetary supply to pay for the Federal government.

Unfortunately, as the founders predicted, once the takers can vote the people into office that give out the freebies, our country will be done. We inch closer and closer to that day. I blame both the Democrats and Republicans for that.

Sounds to me like you are the hate monger. You bore me to tears.

And on a final note, I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I!

Arrogant much? - Not JTBB, so I too apologize

to her for jumping in like this. Who in the world do you think you are? We were born and raised here. Many of us can trace our ancestry back to precolonial days. This is OUR country too. Read my lips: We. Aren't. Going. Anywhere.

A desire to prevent the installation of a theocracy is NOT socialism, anymore than halting our steady march toward plutocracy is. In case you hadn't noticed, the advent of global capitalism is not serving the middle class very well here at home. If their plight deteriorates too much further, capitalism will collapse under the weight of insupportable corporate greed and political mismanagement. Instant replay of failed trickle down is not the answer. Neither is believing in recapturing the 1950s days of glory, "policing" developing countries, bombing countries into democracy or any other such nonsense.

We need leaders and policies that are willing to face the challenges of the future, with enough vision to understand the need to be REALISTIC about who we are as a nation, where we've been, where we're at, where we're headed and what role we will assume on the global stage.

Personally, I don't think ANY American is interested in your one-party idea or this offensive my-way-or-the-highway attitude.

Scrubbing the toilet and taking out tomorrow's garbage pickup should do the trick. Heckuva lot more inspiring, too.

The definition in JC's dictionary - Fanatical Hypocrite
[ In Reply To ..]
of socialist is: "Noun - One who disagrees with me."
Oh, Fanatical Hypocrite... - RC
[ In Reply To ..]
You must have missed the memo.

Everyone who supports the President of the United States is a communist who hates America.

Be sure to make a little sticky note and put it on your computer so that every time you go to post something, you're reminded of how horrible you are.

Oh, and apparently we're all being herded to California. I'm already here, so I'll save some parking spots for the rest of you.

destroying America for almost a century now. It's true. In another 4 years, Obama and Hollywood will have turned all of us into gay nihilistic socialists. The only jobs left will be abortionist, actor or IRS agent:)

I found it hilarious the first time someone used "liberal" as an insult against me. Yes, I believe in liberty for all. How anti-American of me... Progressive is a good one too. Yep, that's me, always moving into the future with the flow of time. Hopefully, Romney can take us all back to the 1950's. I hear everyone* was happy and successful back then.

I like how little time it took to get straight back to socialism. To answer the original question, I'm an Obama supporter, but there are a lot of choices I disagree with. I've met few Democrats that support him who don't have a few bones to pick on different matters. For that matter, I'm a liberal, but don't consider myself a Democrat. They are the closest party that exists to my beliefs (sometimes in the same way that birds are as close to dinosaurs as you can get these days) and so I often vote for Democrats.

What I don't like about so many of your posts that I have seen is not that you hold separate beliefs than others, it is that you negate the beliefs of others.

Also, if you don't like living in America, a melting pot of cultures, races, religions and creeds, or the freedom of speech and belief, then there are plenty of countries that don't have those that you can move to. Perhaps a nice theocracy. I hear Iran is beautiful this time of year. Or maybe if you have a lot of money or Nazi gold you can go to a plutocracy like Monaco or Switzerland. Or the moon. No one will ever disagree with you there or make you pay nasty old taxes.
Laugh away, you think you know me but you don't - JC
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't care what your beliefs are as long as you don't try and force them down my throat either by having to accepting your beliefs or by taking my money and paying for things that I don't believe in. Don't give me the national defense thing, because we all need to pay for national defense. However, we don't all need to pay for Big Bird and abortions. This country had a small Federal government until FDR. The national debt and Federal expenditures ballooned under his watch and it wasn't just during WWII. So, let's get back to the Federal government we had prior to FDR while providing a reasonable safety net for those who can't take care of themselves.

And I am not talking about repealing women's right to votes, civil liberties, etc., because that is what you are going to think.

You're okay with America downgrading itself to - serfdom? NM

[ In Reply To ..]

Of course. Many of them think - he's too moderate.

[ In Reply To ..]
But unlike the wingers, most who do don't decide to break ranks, throw tantrums, make impossible demands, hold the entire country hostage until they are met, and fracture the party beyond recognition.

See I think Obama is a socialist - JC

[ In Reply To ..]
You see that as a an extremist point of view. I am a conservative, which you deem is an extremist point of view. Bottom line, one of us is going to have what we want. I think your vision is going to be the end of America as we know it. We are already on the way there. I don't like what is happening but you seem to. I hope my vision of America wins over yours. My vision I believe is better for everyone.

I am against greed in both the private and public sector. But the government is not going to fix that. We as a society are the only ones that can fix that. As long as we idolize the greedy, we get what we deserve. But then we are going to have different definitions of what greed is. People think profit is greed. In small businesses profit is the owners salary. In large companies profit is the reward to people investing in the company. In both cases profit is what also leads to growing the business and hiring more people, which improves their lives. Unions had a place in our history but now the unions only care about themselves at the expense of others. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

I hope my vision wins. I think your family will be better off than it is now as well.

Of course you do, JC. And nothing has ever changed - your mind. We get that. nm

I have changed my mind from liberal to conservative tendencies - JC
[ In Reply To ..]
So your snyde little comment is untrue.

In another posting, I admitting I used be for abortion but I changed my mind and I am not religious.
Being for legal abortion is not a liberal position. A lot - of liberals are against legalized abortion. A lot
[ In Reply To ..]
of liberals are very religious.

BUT, you see very few authoritarians, followers or leaders (inclined to bigotry or prone to hating people who are different or disagree), who are drawn to liberalism. Not saying you can't find some somewhere (those guys who put nails in trees hoping to kill a lumbjack called themselves liberal, or at least left wing, after all), but they're relatively rare--as opposed to being numerous enough to significantly influence the political groups they do identify with.
Then why is it so important to democrats in this election? - JC
[ In Reply To ..]
Well if it is not a liberal position, it certainly is part of the Democratic party platform.
It is of little to great importance to people across the - spectrum--right to left--who support abortion.
[ In Reply To ..]
A major lie is that it if you're a Democrat you're pro abortion and if you're a Republican you're against. If you buy that, you're going to be very confused by the evidence of your eyes and ears. You may have to stop reading newspapers and magazines that seem to make no sense.

BTW, those white males who are the base of the GOP? Check THEM out on this topic. Abortion is no more an entirely female issue than it is a strictly left-right issue.

Fight for your rights as a woman if nothing else! Fight for your daughter's rights! Out of 120,000 rapes a year, 44% of the woman are under 18 years of age. Out of 120,000 rapes a year 80% result in pregnancy!

Please vote for your own interests ladies!

[ In Reply To ..]
Heard that on Rachael Maddow last night. I thought that figure extremely high, and thought the 120,000 per year extremely low. So, now that you question it, I looked at the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology site, and they say 642,020 rapes nationally per year, with 32,101 resulting in pregnancy, that being more like 5%. :( Creepy men! Anyway, sorry for posting the wrong stats.
Exactly. Bottom line... - minion
[ In Reply To ..]
...is that as women, we should have the right to make decisions about our bodies and NOT (mostly male) politicians. I love how those on the far right are always spouting off about less government intrusion in our lives, but then they have no problems intruding into our uteri.
Honesty requires us to remember, though, - that at some point two bodies
[ In Reply To ..]
are involved. This argument isn't just about abortion, it's about WHEN we have two separate people with equal and rights to continue living.

Many people now wish to define personhood as beginning at conception. This isn't philosophical discussion, they're trying to write it into law. Under that definition, the state would have the duty to protect the fetus from anything the person carrying it might do that could harm it.
Because I don't want to go back 40 years - I'm voting republican
[ In Reply To ..]
I want to move forward. I want something to look forward to. I want my family and friends to have jobs. Heck I want a good job. I don't want to go back 40 years, or back to the 1960s racial division times, which is what Obama is doing.

I am a forward thinker, future looker. I want good things for our country. Therefore I am voting republican.

I agree about idolizing greed - Fanatical Hypocrite

[ In Reply To ..]
It's very true. As long as we, as a society, worship wealth and power, we will have to deal with the top 1% being a royal pain in our behinds.

Also, it is not your conservatism that makes you an extremist. Plenty of my friends are conservatives. Nothing wrong with fiscal responsibility. The extreme part is where you say the president of the United States, who himself is a wealthy business man, is a socialist and insinuate through that that his voters support socialism.

I'm against socialism. So I think we should do no more Bush or Obama style bail outs. End subsidies to industries like fossil fuels and tobacco. Bring our troops home for good. No tax cuts for the rich. No more socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor. Every exec in this country can start living by the sweat of their brow and their ingenuity or topple and let another have a chance. No more wealth incumbency where once you have money you have it forever.

As for doing this through personal, community and social change without the help of the government, then do it. If you've got the solution to changing the social paradigm, then start now. If we end the rampant greed then the government will have no need to act on our behalf. Otherwise, like segregation, the government is going to have to take a side.

And as for profit equaling job growth. Logically that makes sense. Practically it never works out that way. The more money CEO Fat Cat Moneybags the Third gets from profit the more he keeps for himself and his cronies. The government is corrupt, slow and stupid, but the corporations are just as bad, 10 times less transparent and they don't have elections.

I did a lot of research and....sm - stuck in the middle with you

decided I do not truly like the health care bill, or the way in which it was passed.

Other than that, I feel that the pros of another Obama presidency outweigh the cons.

He tries very hard to pander to the right and compromise, from what I see. Pretty moderate. And I label myself fiscally middle of the road to conservative, socially just a little to the left. Voting, I cross over depending on the situation.

[ In Reply To ..]
I would consider myself conservative with libetarian tendencies.

Just as the left doesn't like me forcing my beliefs down their throat, I don't like them doing that to me. Don't use my tax money for things I don't belive in. You can't not pay for national defense, that is the main job of the government. I know we can spend less on the military without cutting troops, etc. if we just spend our money more wisely. Banning lobbyists, a balanced budget amendment, and term limits would go a long way to cutting government waste.

The moderate republicans are the ones that went along with increasing government. The tea party republicans want to decrease the size of government.

Mitt Romney had balanced a budget (afer inheriting a huge deficit and leaving with a large surplus) as a governor and was able to turn around an olympics. Unlike Obama, Romney will cut government. You and other special interest groups just might no like the cuts. I will roll the dice and go with Romney to cut government over Obama.
