Dear me. Here I am in Hillary's "basket of deplorables"

I think she's becoming unhinged, probably because it's not turning out to be quite the cake walk she imagined it would be. This "basket of deplorables" thing - which she repeated twice - sure isn't going to help her, nor does all that "alt-right" stuff she spews. You'd better tighten up those loose screws before a wheel comes off, Hillary. ;

This crowd is what she was referring to. It exists, like it or not. It is not just "politically incorrect." Trump's rhetoric incites these despicable people to act out in public with nothing less than outright racial slurs and epithets, a real drumming up of hate.

If you are truly in that basket, I really do NOT think anything Hillary says would bother you the least little bit.

In fact, anyone firmly in Trump's camp can concern troll about Hillary's words as much as they like, we know they weren't going to come over anyway.

What she has said is she will govern for everyone, not just those who voted for her. I believe her. But there is such a thing as right and wrong and moral and immoral.

Many of those sentiments expressed at those Trump rallies are simply wrong and immoral, whatever else you want to call them. They are certainly not the better angels of our nature as Americans.

Personally, I feel the moniker fits them.

The ONLY people who she is referring to are those featured in the video, and unfortunately Trump has plenty of them - he actually loves revving them up in his rallies.

They are the lowest of the low. Tell me you don't think that after watching the video.

Been to 2 Trump events with over 10,000 at one and 8,000 - at the other...

...and there wasn't even a sniff of such people among the Trump supporters (or I wouldn't have gone to the second one). Just working folks who were very pleasant to be in line with. No bad behavior of any kind.

On the other hand, there WERE filthy, rude, profane, and obnoxious people at both events...about 100 in each case. Who were they, you ask? I think you know the answer. They were Hillary supporters, screaming epithets and (not coincidentally) calling us every name that Hillary used in her "basket" comments.

So, if we revise and extend your remarks to include the Clinton side, as I'm sure you'll agree that we should in all fairness, where does that leave you?

It leaves you choosing either to buy into the shopworn tactics, in particular demonizing their political opponents, that both Clintons have used over and over throughout their checkered political careers (if you remember, demonization was how she dealt with Bill's sexual victims) - or choosing not to buy into them.

They count on people never questioning the reality of the world that they invent for public consumption. You can swallow it or not. It's entirely between you and your own better angels, not mine.

The people in the video are no more representative of the vast majority of Trump supporters any more than the vile specimens at the events I attended were representative of the vast majority of Hillary supporters - not a few of whom I happen to know and like regardless of our political differences.

I didn't walk away from those events laying those people at Hillary's doorstep, or slathering her supporters with a broad brush, and I would appreciate the same degree of thoughtful reflection and simple fairness on your part.

That video was not a fake, it might not have been the rallies you attended, but there are some like that and they achieve just that - that's what Trump intends, like it or not. I can see why you dislike the way the protesters behave, but at least at Hillary's speeches the nasty people are not the supporters. To me, I feel what is really disgusting is that Trump does nothing to stop them, only eggs them on.

Here's a question, why won't Trump admit he was totally wrong about President Obama being born in Kenya? All those "people" he sent to Hawaii to check it out apparently found nothing.

Because he wants to stoke that fire, that's why. In fact, many Republicans STILL believe President Obama is a Muslim and was born in Kenya. Why?

Trump wants outreach to African Americans? Well, instead of showing up in all white neighborhoods and talking about how horrible African American lives are, why not just come out and admit his birtherism was complete BS and also completely racist and misguided. No, then he would lose the deplorables, wouldn't he?

So many African Americans will NEVER vote for him because of that and yet he will not admit how awful and stupid his birtherism was, how it in fact started him with the loser crowd of deplorables that is still with him all the way.

You can sometimes admit you don't like something about your chosen candidate, but I think all Trump followers need to admit to themselves that this man is just fine allowing that "basket of deplorables" to hang on his every word and get worked up about these issues, especially when all it would take is to admit he was wrong. But does he ever do that about anything, ever, anyway? Not that I have seen. So I guess that's what you all like about him?

Hillary has miles and miles more experience. Hillary actually cares about people, not money. To me there is no comparison, and Trump is nothing but nasty, dangerous, lazy, and bad for this country.

I do agree with you that Clinton has experience in government and Trump doesn't. I take it you haven't noticed what kind of experience, or what that experience teaches us about her. You haven't noticed the depths of corruption that she's practiced.

although somewhat of an exaggeration where the percent is concerned (it's probably closer to 10% to 20%), but because it was unutterably politically stupid to say it in public.

So probably not good for more than 1-1/2 Pinocchios as a lie, which is nothing for this election, but definitely a what-were-you-thinking 5 thumbs down for political smarts.
