Chinese company buying Canadian oil co. {Nexen}...sm

Posted: Jul 28, 2012

This happened because Obama blocked the Keystone pipeline.  Get ready to buy Canadian oil from the Chinese.  It is obvious Obama does not give a hoot about America.

Thank you.

you do realize this company gets oil from other places such as Europle, the Gulf of Mexico, Yemen, West Africa, Colombia....? How far was that pipeline supposed to reach?

I can answer that. No further than TX/LA Gulf Coast - petroplex ports

[ In Reply To ..]
Keytone architects have cleverly chosen two terminal locations (Houston and Port Arthur) smack dab in the geographic center of the following TX and LA Gulf Coast refineries and (ex)port facilities, starting from extreme southwest end and proceeding toward the north and east through the petro refining and exporting complex:

In Texas:

Brownsville
Port Isabel
Corpus Christi
Rockport
Port Lavaca
Palacios
Freeport
Houston
Pasa(get-down)dena - shameless plug for a friend who lives in this east-side armpit of H-town
Texas City
League City
LaPorte
Baytown
Dayton
Liberty
Galveston
Beaumont
Port Authur
Bridge City
Orange

In Louisiana

Sulphur
Lake Charles
Lafayette
Baton Rouge
Morgan City
Kenner
New Orleans
Slidell

We could continue along the I-10 East corridor and find some more refineries and (ex)ports, but I think you get the general idea. The inter- and intrastate ground and water transportation infrastructure that facilitates refining and export of oil along the Gulf Coast to virtually any global destination is extremely efficient and cost effective. This has been the case ever since Spindletop.

Safe to say that oil and its byproducts are not typically bound for inland destinations from these locations, so regardless of what deals have been struck between Canada and China, you can bet your bottom dollar Americans will be buying back Keystone pipeline products from our global “partners.” Correct me if I’m wrong, but two of the few policies particulars Mitt has unmasked thus far are the "revival" of energy commerce (praise the Lord) and expansion of trade alliances. More red meat offerings to his voracious insatiable conservative base. Go figure.

My brother-in-law's BFF was working at the Texas City BP Refinery in 2005 the day it exploded. He sustained 3rd degree burns to the left side of his body (head-to-toe), including his face and scalp, and lost 80% of his hearing. My ex (and son's dad) works for Dow as a regional quality control engineer, a job that requires traveling between these refinery sites, so I make a point to pay close attention to oil company minutia.

Why? Because these facilities impact our air quality on a day-to-day basis, our beaches, flora, fauna, and the quality of our water and local food supplies. Air pollution is an ongoing health hazard for asthmatics (my sister), folks with allergies (my son, his dad and my husband), those with chronic upper respiratory conditions (my HIV-positive niece), and seniors.

That's just a snapshot of the human side of the Keystone story. We need a pipeline terminal here like a WHOLE IN THE HEAD.

You're welcome.

Do you not remember the days upon days of the oil spilling in the Gulf from Deepwater Horizon?

I just read that there is another oil spill in Grand Marsh, Wisconsin. Wonder why they call it Grand Marsh? Someday, when I have time, I might have to do some research for you on how the oil companies are giving a hoot.

Why wait ***? If you are so - knowing and have so much info

[ In Reply To ..]
where is it? Everybody with a *** remembers the Gulf spill. ***. BTW - ANY company can experience problems in ANY business, in ANY industry, at ANY time. Why hand over everything to the Chinese, Venezuelans, Brazilians simply because Obama is so economically stupi?

I have NO facts to share that would support the OP's conclusion that China's deal with Canada has anything to do with the Keystone pipeline. I was inquiring about this conclusion and hoping to be enlightened. Like you said - it's a discussion forum. I made no insults in my post.
I was referring to the talking points, Dem - propoganda part of the post.
