I thought foreign-born people were not eligible to run for president? Are the Republicans conveniently sweeping this under the rug? (and I am not talking about the donald's hair piece).

Obama would not have been a U.S. citizen citizen if his mother didn't get that Certificate of Live Birth from Hawaii. It would have made a big difference if he had been born overseas according to the Immigration and Naturalization Act.

Not everyone born anywhere in the world is automatically an NBC. I believe I posted it somewhere else in this thread.

Anyone born on a U.S. military base is automatically a NBC.

FACT: U.S. citizens having a child or children overseas, not on American soil, have to register the birth of the children at a consulate or embassy and meet the residence requirements in the US. The registry has to be completed before the child or children were five years old. If they are not, they could not confer, as it were, US citizenship on them even though the parent(s) may be U.S. citizens.

Otherwise, if the children are not registered within 5 years, they would be considered citizens of the country they were born in and would have to go through the naturalization process.

Section 301 (g) of the Immigration and Naturalization Act says that in the case of a birth to a US citizen parent between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, the US citizen parent has to have lived in US territory for a period of 10 years, at least five of which have to be after the age of 14, to transmit US citizenship to the child. Ted Cruz's mother was in her 30s when he was born, so his birth in Canada makes no difference.

Some people seem to forget is that Cruz had DUAL citizenship. If he was recognized and met the requirements of a U.S. citizen, he would not have been recognized by our government as a natural born citizen.

Trump forgot to mention that part of his citizenship question. He's only questioning citizenship because he hopes he will pull in the low information voters to his side and it seems working to some degree, Look at all the conversations, news stories, and commentary on his eligibility.

Trump pulled the same thing with Obama.Ann Dunham was four months shy of 19 when her son was born, so it would have made a difference if he had been born overseas.
