Bill Maher - Not a fan but he has a point

Posted: Feb 13, 2013

This is a good episode to watch.  Is BM finally seeing the light?  He states "Democrats (chuckles), their viewpoint on Obama seems to be God what he does would be awful if he was a republan".

Another good point Tina Brown made was that Obama would be impeached if he was a republican.

especially.

And, yes, we're very unhappy with deployment of new technology that's changing the whole concept of what war and invasion are, but I gotta tell you he's totally right on when he says we'd a lot more unhappy with, say, the Neocons under Bush, or Bush under Cheney and other Neocons, whatever, having aggression organisms in the White House.

This occurs within the setting of the dreadful failure/setting aside of our system of laws that Obama inherited. In our little national excitement over the nerve of Bin Laden to attack on our own soil, too many people approved abandoning what it is to be America in the name of "protection." This is a big part of what Bin Laden was so pleased with--he whacks a few buildings, and starts the destruction of the entire country from within. It's no coincidence at all that, worried that he could lose the election to warmongerers, this fall Obama started putting together a code to govern the use of drones.

This isn't something the MSM, typically panned here, talks about, much less the right wing media machine, but our Declaration of Independence speaks of the right of ALL men to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The protections of the Constitution and Bill of Rights are the rights of all people of the earth, not just those who can produce the right papers.

Good post - Fanatical Hypocrite

I must admit that I'm more tolerant of Obama than Bush. When it's your own. That combined with the fact that we've had front row seats to this national horror show going on 12 years especially, but more like 60 years. Or all of human history. Hard to say. Helplessness also makes a person stop caring to a certain degree. I trust Obama more than I did Cheney. Of course, trust is always a risky proposition.

While there's a lot I like about Obama, I'll be the first to admit that I was hoping for a lot more. Not that it's all Obama's fault. Life has a way of crushing our hopes when we get to far ahead of ourselves. My main disagreements with him are regarding Libya, treatment of supposed POWs, lack of promised transparency, etc.

Admittedly, I realize I'll probably never get what I want from any president because I want an awful lot. I want an America that uses war only as a tactic of last resort. An America that builds in the Middle East without first destroying the Middle East. I want a country that stands for peace, freedom and equality without equivocation. An unrivaled power of good in the world.

Instead we declared war on a tactic (terrorism). It's like declaring a war on the recipe for chocolate chip cookies. Even if you were somehow able to kill everyone who knows the recipe, it's not that hard for someone to figure it out.

I trust Obama to agree with the wishes of principled people - but am sure the realities of big problems

and real limitations to what he can do are causing him to make pragmatic choices to attain what he sees as best possible outcomes.

Although one of his first actions was to refute the Bush torture policy and reinstitute policies agreed on after World War II, note that the code governing drone use was being compiled only this fall, not when he first started using them. He didn't choose to limit his own options earlier.

And, yes, in spite of his inability and/or choices to so far not end actions we were raised to see as evil and un-American, such as torture and detainment without speedy trial, I trust him incredibly more than the predecessor who began them.

Bill Maher On ObamaCareMar 19, 2010
The way Bill Maher sees it, resistance to ObamaCare is all God's fault. Why? Because so many people believe in this "schmuck" who lives in the clouds...and this belief, in turn, intensifies opposition to ObamaCare.   This leftist social critic, anti-Christian crusader, and HBO comedy show host warned God at the end of last week to back off, to allow smart people like himself and Barack Obama and the New York Times editorial board to push the God-fearing "ignoramuses" aside this week ...

BILL MAHER: "President Obama keeps insisting that's ISIS is not Islamic. Well, maybe they don't practice the Muslim faith the same way he does. But if vast numbers of Muslims across the world believe, and they do, that humans deserve to die for merely holding a different idea or drawing a cartoon or writing a book or eloping with the wrong person, not only does the Muslim world have something in common with ISIS, it has too much in common with ISIS."There is much, much more at the link ...

Check out the link. Arianna Huffington is also one of his past dates. Christine O'Donnell appeared on Bill Maher's television show 22 times in the late 1990's. Maher, a notorious womanizer, hinted that he had several damaging clips of her from those appearances. He also stated that he created her and would continue to embarrass her until she made an appearance on his new show. Something about the way he addressed the camera suggested that Mr. Maher may know something more e ...

Will The Left Discipline Bill Maher And George Takei ForFeb 23, 2017
I write these words burning with indignation in light of the truly sick, pro-pederasty comments that have surfaced in recent days. Will the left discipline two of its beloved stars, George Takei of Star Trek fame and Bill Maher of HBO renown, for their horrifying comments the same way the right disciplined Milo Yiannopoulos for his? As a result of some of Milo’s past comments getting more exposure, he was uninvited from speaking at CPAC, his book contract with Simon & Schuster was cancelled ...

Cory Booker, Sam Harris, Eva Langoria, And Jackie Kucinich On Bill MaherFeb 03, 2013
Your thoughts on this -- watch the whole thing before making your comments. Watch it more than once to understand the whole argument. Don't just watch pieces. I felt it was a balanced discussion on his show.  It seems like Cory Booker knows and understands what most gun owners know and the word is CRIMINALS. Sam Harris seems to be on the line, for but also against gun control. I think Sam Harris has no idea of how many guns are in this country. He said 300 million but there are ...
