Big data finds the Medieval Warm Period

According to author Leo Tolstoy, born at the very end of the Little Ice Age, in quite a cold country:
"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he already knows, without a shadow of a doubt, what is laid before him."
Very interesting article herein.

They're handicapped/closed-minded due to their "intelligence"; however, it seems to me that their kind of intelligence is actually a pure form of stupidity.

All The Warm Fuzzies For Dick CheneyMar 25, 2012not a word of outrage that I can find on this board for the young black man killed by a racist. Where is the passion for his lost future? I so enjoy seeing the conservative blind spot displayed. Feeling All Warm, Fuzzy, And Tingly Apr 06, 2011The fact that Kloppenburg was UNKNOWN two months ago and has all but beaten a 14 year incumbent, goes to show how far out of touch the Republican T-Party is with the working people of Wisconsin. Only five other Supreme Count incumbents have been ousted by a challenger in the history of Wisconsin.
It will almost certainly go to recount, but Scott Walker has been put on notice that he will be recalled.

In reading this, I wonder if the 911 operator ought to be charged also for not relaying information from the caller that the gun was "probably fake." However, this still does not excuse the handling of the situation by the police officers.

Odd PeriodMay 12, 2012I hope someone has some advice. My period is ususally 3-5 days early. This month, it was 11 days late and so far (day 2), it's not really a period, it's more like a brown mucousy discharge. I'm 49 and my husband has had a vasectomy (14 years ago). I highly, highly doubt I'm pregnant, but I've never experienced this. Is it preimenopause? Should I see my doctor? Thanks. ...

Period ProblemsMay 31, 2011This may be too much info for some of you guys, so sorry in advance!
My period is normally a very heavy flow with terrible cramps and lasts 6 to 8 days. Lucky me, I know. Last month it was normal (well, what I consider normal for me). This month it was like 1 day of spotting and that was it. I did have a bit of cramping, but this is not normal for me. I haven't had sex in a couple months and my period last month was normal so I doubt I am pregnant.
Any ideas? ...

The overall split is positive in almost all demos except Democrats (30/45) and liberals (26/58). Majorities of independents (51/26), seniors (54/20), men (54/24) approved of it, but the biggest positive response came from Hispanics, 62/21 — even better than Republicans (58/12). Even women ( ...

Judging Stimulus By Job Data Reveals SuccessFeb 17, 2010Imagine if, one year ago, Congress had passed a stimulus bill that really worked.
Let’s say this bill had started spending money within a matter of weeks and had rapidly helped the economy. Let’s also imagine it was large enough to have had a huge impact on jobs — employing something like two million people who would otherwise be unemployed right now.
If that had happened, what would the economy look like today?
Well, it would look almost exactly as it does now. Because thos ...
