Odd Period

Posted: May 12, 2012

I hope someone has some advice.  My period is ususally 3-5 days early.  This month, it was 11 days late and so far (day 2), it's not really a period, it's more like a brown mucousy discharge. I'm 49 and my husband has had a vasectomy (14 years ago). I highly, highly doubt I'm pregnant, but I've never experienced this.  Is it preimenopause? Should I see my doctor?  Thanks.

I'm same age, yes, sounds like menopause - countrywestMT

I just turned 50. Last normal period was about June of last year. Just had an annual physical, the FSH, the ultrasound everything. Yes it's menopause. The only way the doctor can truly determine if it is menopause is to do an FSH and see what your level is.

Thanks Countrywest... - sigher

I read your reply last night and it made me feel better that it's a normal occurrence, but it also made me sad because I thought I was too young for menopause - so I googled what the average age is - 51. For some reason, I thought it was closer to 55. Then this morning I woke up to a regular period, cramping included. If I do get my period again, even if it's late or odd, at least I know it's normal for a woman my age. Thanks again.

In 90 Day Probation Period At New JobSep 11, 2011
i've started a new job just a couple of weeks ago but feel that me and the company are just not a good fit.  I have never been in this situation before, but do I owe them 2 weeks or 1 week notice at this point?  My understanding is that in the 90 days, if either they or I feel that it's not working out, I can simply resign and walk away when I do so.  Is this the way it is?  Has anyone had this experience and if so, how did you tell them without causing static or an ...

Period ProblemsMay 31, 2011
This may be too much info for some of you guys, so sorry in advance! My period is normally a very heavy flow with terrible cramps and lasts 6 to 8 days.  Lucky me, I know.  Last month it was normal (well, what I consider normal for me).  This month it was like 1 day of spotting and that was it.  I did have a bit of cramping, but this is not normal for me.  I haven't had sex in a couple months and my period last month was normal so I doubt I am pregnant. Any ideas? ...

Period Shamed? Not This Person. Putting ItAug 10, 2015
Just read about a woman who was to run the London marathon. The night before she started her period. She thought she could either wear a tampon or go without, to do so because she claims there is "period shaming." She went without. She said also did it for all the women around the world who do not have the products when they have their period and also she thinks some do not talk about it because of shame. I saw a picture of her after the race with her blood soaked pants. I have no idea what othe ...

'He Became President Of The United States In That Moment, Period'Mar 01, 2017
Shortly after President Donald Trump addressed a Joint Session of Congress for the first time since taking the oath of office, CNN's Van Jones called one particularly moving moment from the speech the real estate mogul's most presidential to date. Less than an hour after Trump honored the widow of a slain NAVY Seal, the Democratic commentator suggested that the commander in chief had officially begun to look the part. "He became President of the United States in that moment, pe ...

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, the assault on the founding of this country continues by leftists and Democrats everywhere. I Think Italy Has It Right. They Impose A Period Of Media SilenceDec 03, 2016
The campaigning is done now ahead of Sunday's vote. No more campaign ads.  No phony polls being published.  No robocalls.  No news editorials, articles, radio or TV commentary. And on election day, no exit polls, early predictions, etc.  When the vote is counted and certified, the results are announced. Gee - a period of silence in which people can reflect on their vote without the deluge of frantic last-minute yelling, screaming, misinformation, the blizzard of ads e ...

Big Data Finds The Medieval Warm PeriodAug 22, 2017
According to author Leo Tolstoy, born at the very end of the Little Ice Age, in quite a cold country: "The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he already knows, without a shadow of a doubt, what is laid before him." Very interesting article herein. ...
