Bachmann: welfare receipents getting lap dances bigger problem than unemployment

Posted: Feb 18, 2012

The House and Senate both approved a payroll tax cut bill on Friday that would extend unemployment benefits through 2012.But according to Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), the extension is hardly the bill's crowning achievement.

"They're extending unemployment, too, but the big thing that we get is no longer can a welfare recipient walk into a strip club and get money out of an ATM machine to pay for a lap dance," she told conservative radio host Mark Levin on Thursday night. "Now, I'm not making this up. That's the big thing that we get out of this bill."

According to the bill, welfare recipients won't be able to use government-issued debit cards to get cash through ATM's at strip clubs, casinos or liquor stores. The ban is similar to one included in a House bill proposed earlier this month by Rep. Charles Boustany (R-La.).

Questioned by Levin whether this use of welfare funds was a major problem, Bachmann replied, "Welfare recipients across the country, Mark, have been using their welfare cards -- they look like credit cards, it's a debit card. They get these debit cards, they can walk into a casino, they can walk into a liquor store, they can walk into a strip club and if there's an ATM machine in there, they can use their welfare card, draw down the money and use it to pay for gambling, lap dances."
Bachmann, who is running for a fourth term after dropping out of the GOP presidential race, called the issue "unbelievable."

"People need to be outraged by this, because we are literally going into hock and reducing our standard of living to keep this kind of ridiculous spending up," she said. "That's a problem."

Believe me, my opinion of this church lady acting as though this race is a cheerleading tryout for her is very very very low. I have to mute the TV if I see her come on because her voice gives me a migraine. Well not just her voice, every idiotic thing she says, which is just about everything I've ever heard her say. However, this is probably the first thing I agree with her on.

with the republican obsession with the sex life of others? They seem to delight in wallowing in the seamy side of things while claiming their own virtue. Keep both hands in view when talking about this Michelle crazy eyes.

the minute fractional percentage of welfare recipients who use their miniscule benefits for liquor, gambling or lap dances (oh brother), is they will simply make a stop at the bank ATM to withdraw cash before proceeding to these various destinations. Then again, it's not at all surprising Bachman would tout this hollow GOP "victory" which addresses a trumped up calamity that is not even on the radar screens of the more sane among us whose world views are grounded in reality.

Bachmann - Agree

Why should any of my HARD-EARNED TAX MONEY go to a WELFARE RECIPIENT boozing, smoking, getting lap dances. If you can drag yourself to a bar for all those things, get a job at the bar and leave my tax money alone. As for someone stating Repubs so interested in everyone's sex life....NOT. Take a look at Dems (sad to break the news, they sure do not walk on water). But when you have people doing what they do with MY TAX MONEY, we all have a right to say something. Do whatever you want on your time, without my money...you want taxpayers out of your sex life? Keep your hands out of taxpayer's wallets...just sayin'

Michele Bachmann: Welfare Queen Posted on Dec 22, 2009 By Yasha Levine Michele Bachmann has become well known for her anti-government tea-bagger antics, protesting health care reform and every other government “handout” as socialism. What her followers probably don’t know is that Rep. Bachmann is, to use that anti-government slur, something of a welfare queen. That’s right, the anti-government insurrectionist has taken more than a quarter-million dollars in g ...

Me thinks God is up there smoking dope! Apparently, Michele Bachmann is now confirming that she has received the long-awaited go-ahead from the Lord on her presidential run. Bachmann Compares Self To Serial KillerJun 27, 2011
Maybe there can be a history round in the Republican primary debates. In an interview after she announced her candidacy, Michele Bachmann promised to act in the spirit of Waterloo, Iowa’s, John Wayne.
