Bachmann Rx: Pray the gay away. Gawk at womens breasts.

Posted: Jul 12, 2011

A 17-year-old gay teen attending the Dr. Marcus Bachmann's counseling clinic in 2004 was told he could "pray the gay away" and that God would forgive him if he went straight.  When John Becker attended the sessions, he was told, "The truth is God, God has designed our eyes to be attracted to the woman’s, to the woman’s body, to be attracted to, you know, everything. You know, to be attracted to her breasts.”

Wow.  Another role for women to play in the fanatical Christian universe.  Modestly display those hooters and submit to being ogled by straight men while assuming the responsibility for curing homosexual males.  No mention of what to do when being ogled by lesbian and bisexual women.

Video link.  The whole report is interesting, but these comments are @ 3:10 min.

That is right up there with making gays watch hours of WWE to help teach them to be men. Yeah, right; that'll cure 'em.

(no pun intended)... we're talking about the same clinic that receives/ed Medicare funding, right? Sorry, but if any tax dollars went to treat patients with pray-away-what-ails-ya therapy, it's downright wrong. Even if pray the gay away wasn't ineffective as well as potentially harmful, it should be provided through a church! Meanwhile, we have Planned Parenthoods being defunded and forced to shut down, leaving women without birth control/health screening services, because they perform abortions NOT funded through tax dollars. Go figure.

yuck - anon

This kind of garbage is just that - garbage. What a waste of time. Get real. This is just another site for the conservative haters.

This is vitreol on the order of saying Obama is a communist or continually bringing up his backround in Rev Wright's church or that silly birth certificate garbage. The general American public don't believe either of these wacky notions of the candidates. Let's stick to the issues that people are REALLY concerned about and stop the far-out theories.

And, by the way, let's stop the anti-Christian rhetoric AND the anti-Islam rhetoric. The fact is, as long as there is mental illness in the world, both sides will always have fanatics. If someone doesn't believe in the gay lifestyle, so what? It's not my lifestyle, but what right do we have to say they CAN'T think that way? On the other hand, if someone believes that women should be stoned to death in Pakistan, who are we to tell them they CAN'T think that way? Unfortunately, this goes on all the time and no matter how we cringe at the grotesque nature, there is really nothing we can do to change their thought patterns. And where's the outrage for the gay Muslims, thousands of them, who are executed each year? It's a human rights tragedy that we rarely hear about. Tolerance? Not with these sites.

Live and let live.

I can think of at least 137,000 reasons why - voters have an interest in

First Dude Wannabe's destructive self-hatred therapy for gays. Medicaid bucks come out of all our pockets. I for one do not appreciate hearing that treatments THIS far out of touch with reality that have the potential of exacerbating depression and suicidality are being bankrolled in any way, shape or form by tax dollars.

The REAL issues many people care about during campaigns happen to include homophobia, hate speech, equal rights under the law and anti-gay legislative initiatives. On his radio program, Marcus Bachmann clearly stated that he equates gays with "barbarians who need to be educated." Furthermore, Michelle Bachmann signed onto The Family Leader's anti-gay, anti-Islam, racist Marriage/Candidate's vow.

I am sure you have heard one of its more preposterous assertions being covered all over the news recently, predicated on the GOP fake history rewrite: MYTH: Black children were better off under slavery when allegedly raised by a 2-parent nuclear family. FACT: It was against the law for slaves to marry and fathers, mothers and offspring were routinely permanently separated from one another when they were sold off into plantation bondage. The first link reveals entire text of the vow.

If you find vitriol in reporting stone cold facts about a presidential candidate's welfare-is-for-deadbeats hypocrisy and their spouse's questionable business practices, perhaps you should consider directing your anger at the behaviors rather than the reports themselves. BTW, just because progressive media reports what Fox won't touch with a ten foot pole (at least not without distortion), does not mean it didn't happen. The video link was posted and speaks for itself, as do the other links to a variety of media sources now reporting on the "pray the gay away" story. Lots of interest out there, like it or not.

But really, so what? He's against the gay lifestyle. Why is that such a big deal to you? He has every right to his beliefs without being put down and dragged through the mud.

News flash - Everyone in the country doesn't have to agree with the gay lifestyle. And I know some liberal elites may find this hard to swallow, but these people are actually productive members of society and just as happy and secure in their lives. They don't spend their days spreading the "homophobic hate speech."  Just because someone doesn't agree with them doesn't make them a better person. You can throw all the slurs and names around that you feel necessary and it may make you feel good-it may even make you feel superior-but the fact is that there are many good people in this country who don't agree with the gay lifestyle. The liberals are convinced that these people are somehow beneath them. That is single-minded, self-righteous, arrogant elitism at its finest (or at its worse).

Besides, do you really think that MB is worried about losing the gay vote? When did she have it?

I prefer my president and first spouse - to be in touch with reality

not constantly trying to create a parallel universe, then mandating the rest of us to live here or else, especially when it requires embracing such mindsets as rewriting history and discrediting bodies of scientific evidence accumulated over the centuries, living in a world where common sense, reason, logic, intelligence, knowledge and basic human dignity are condemned, or making religious and cultural intolerance the order of the day.

Tell you what. Why don't you try praying away your heterosexual tendendencies and go gawk at the genitalia of your same-sex gender? Better still, try stretching your lips out and wrapping them around your head, a challenge more doable than changing human sexual orientation. PS. Legislated do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do hypocrisy is not high on my list for reasons to support a candidate, but contrary to what you might think, I hope and PRAY MB gets the nomination. Nothing would please me more.

If you look in the archives at the Weiner scandal and the attack on Breitbart (which turned out to be unwarranted and never justified), there are many posts with things like,"He will continue to earn the low regard in which he is held as long as he uses his anonymous armies of trolls all dressed up in disguise and deceit as his primary sources. If he wants righteous recognition, he will have to change his tactics and shed the tabloid mentality. Until then, his work will never rise above the level of lipstick on a pig."

It was called, "scandal and yellow journalism" in a post.

So, I guess ABC has thrown themselves in the gutter with Breitbart. Hahahahah - who woulda thunk it? Surprised

is a matter of public records, as is the amount of bucks her hubby received from Medicaid. The ABC guy with the phone who recorded the breast statement signed up and paid for the counseling, was in fact gay, and was not the only client Dr. Barbarian's foot soldiers tried to "cure." If counselors can record their sessions for future reference, why shouldn't paying clients be allowed to do the same?

ABC gathered evidence and wrote a precisely accurate and factual expose. If Breitbart can seize his 15 minutes of legitimacy by doing what he did, ABC did not lose theirs by doing what they did. Can't have it both ways.

Er, I wonder if he attempted to pray his own gay away. - me

Bachmann Compares Self To Serial KillerJun 27, 2011
Maybe there can be a history round in the Republican primary debates. In an interview after she announced her candidacy, Michele Bachmann promised to act in the spirit of Waterloo, Iowa’s, John Wayne. But it turns out John Wayne Gacy, the serial killer, lived in Waterloo, while John Wayne, the movie star, lived in Winterset, nearly a three-hour drive away.
