As in the Libya embassy, where they mention that the embassy wanted extra security, but not that every embassy wanted extra security for 9/11/12, especially after the anti-Mohammed movie was released; this article mentions the failures without giving specifics and without even looking for evidence of success.

I'm not saying that his investments will in the end pay off, but this article is neither fair nor balanced. Green energy is a difficult question. Regardless of whether global warming is a human spawned problem, pollution and limited resources will force us to look elsewhere for power. Apollo 1, the very first move to getting to the moon, resulted in the deaths of three good men. There was still an Apollo 2. All human endeavors carry risk and I feel that green energy is worth that risk.

Many of the companies the article mentions are laying off the overseas staff and not their U.S. staff and much of it is out of their hands because of stiff competition with the Chinese and a global recession. If we decide now that tough competition from the Chinese should keep us from trying, prepare to live in a third world country and Chinese subsidiary for the rest of your life. We can't afford to fall further behind in any form of tech against our overseas competitors.

As far as government investment in energy in general, we invest a subsidy of 4.86 billion dollars annually in the oil industry and 3.5 billion into nuclear power. The oil industry has been a massive failure for 30 years now since the Carter gas crisis and all the gas crises after that. It depends on the stability of the most unstable region of the planet and thus we are forced into constant foreign interventions, which in turn lead to creating new enemies and future terrorists. Every dollar we invest into oil is more money to fund international terrorism and violent Saddam Hussein-style dictators.

Peak oil has likely already been reached or will happen soon (this is when demand exceeds supply) and unless one believes that resources are in some way infinite, oil will run out. Most projections for this fall between 2060 and 2100. A long way away for the individual, but not for our children and grandchildren. Regardless of the complicated global warming debate, there is no debate that fossil fuels cause pollution and that breathing or drinking such toxins are good for you.

Green energy is a ways off. Solar is expensive and ineffective, geothermal is rare, hydro is a pain and wind is... actually there's no real problem with wind, but Exxon and Chevron can't control it. However, despite the expense of green energy, fossil fuels are quickly outpacing it because of universal fuel increases despite massive subsidies, tax breaks, corporate power and international collaboration. We can either seek a way out now or wait until gas is 10 bucks a gallon. There will be failures along the way. Perhaps massive, heart breaking failures. Yet until someone comes up with a better alternative, I don't see many options.

I don't know anyone who opposes green energy.... - SK1

I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of what goes into the creation and manufacture of it, but my objection to throwing stimulus money at green energy companies, a fledgling industry, is the timing and method in which it was done. You don't buy filet mignon when all you can afford is hamburger.

The purpose of stimulus money was to "stimulate" the economy. The green energy industry is in its infancy and will take years, if not decades, to become a viable affordable alternative to traditional fuels. Even if so many of these companies hadn't gone bust, nothing they could do was going to give a quick shot of adrenalin to the economy.

This is a lie. Period. Losses from our investments in green innovators - are less than congress budgeted for. We are

doing great. As always in our history, many work hard to make our country great, some sort of go along, and some fight it all the way. OP, if you can't work TOWARD something good for everyone, why not go do something positive for yourself? Plant some winter vegetables? Watch TV. Glue jewels and sequins on a decorative birdhouse. Make a new friend. Whatever.

I have a project for you as well. Prove me wrong. - OP

To fund these Green projects and they failed. Just last week the batteries for these Green Cars don't even work. Some of them catch on fire. China bought the batteries for some reason. They will probably try to sell them back to us.

Romney On Trump's Failures. Mar 03, 2016
1.  Romney no one to talk.  His take-over company bought up dozens of companies and then had to close them due to their own ineptitude, with the subsequent losses of tens of thousands of jobs.  When this was disclosed, it was one BIG reason that he lost the election.  He has absolutely no room to talk about business acumen. 2.  If you try a lot of things, it's inevitable that you're going to have some failures.  Better to try than to do nothing - or to bu ...

It's no surprise Democrat Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is an advocate of socialism.
