Swollen foot from foot pedal

Posted: May 29, 2010

Recnetly I have noticed that towards the end of my shift, my footpedal foot gets swollen.  It does not hurt, but if I continue working for a few hours after it starts to swelll, it does get pretty uncomfortable.  The swelling takes a few hours to go back down after I quit working and put my feet up.  I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and what they did about it.

Swollen foot from foot pedal - BH

Yes, after several hours, my right foot is painful and swollen. I have to switch to the left foot. I noticed both feet were swollen last night and I have never had swollen feet since my pregnancy 36 years ago when I gave birth to my daughter.

I have that problem, it is from sitting too long --- - anon

and cutting of the circulation. was told to get up and walk around every now and then to avoid clots.

Soneone long ago asked if it were possible to rig up a knee lever type of apparatus because of this problem.

Another described how she props herslf up in a recliner with her feet up, foot pedal and all.

It's common over the years...take care.

Here's what I do........it helps a bit - Kiki

I actually have 3 foot pedals, one on the left, one on the right, and one propped up on a foot rest in the middle. I find switching feet every so often helps tremendously. For the foot pedals on the floor, I have a book that is just a tad higher than the foot pedal placed in front of it where I put my heel. That way I'm pushing slightly downward with the ball of my foot (and sometimes just my toes) instead of constantly lifting the ball of my foot UP. Also, the other poster is right, you DO still have to get up at least once an hour for a few minutes and do some laps around the house, then maybe sit and put your legs up for another minute.

Maybe you could try a foot rest. I have one that I have used for years. I also get up and move around every few hours.

Just google ergonimic foot rest. Ebay has some for about $20 but also a Fellowes for about $40 which is what I have.

How about a rolled towel or pillow to prop it up? - lindawordlady

I am just starting to have a sore foot on back of my foot because I always tend to have it flexed back (which is not good) when I take it off the footpedal. I am glad you brought this up and after reading other suggestions I think I will try putting a small rolled towel down there to kind of cushion it.

I actually had this very same problem over a year ago and was very concerned and worried so I actually made a doctor's appointment. He told me that I need to make a point of getting up at least once an hour and walking around. He said even if its just getting up to go the bathroom or walking around the house. Since that visit I have done exactly as he instructed and have not had any further problems.

Leg swelling - Pat46

I have that problem too except mine is in my left foot, not my right foot that I use for the foot pedal. I just figured it did not go in my right foot because it was getting the exercise of the up and down. I sit with my left leg on a box or something most of the time and I have started wearing compression stockings when they are bad. I don't use salt but of course we get than in potato chips and popcorn which I eat. I'm also on Lasix. My doctor was more concerned this time when I was there but she said my kidney function looked a little abnormal and told me to drink a lot of water and that would help the swelling.

Cellulitis Of FootMar 10, 2015
Early Friday morning (day after a blizzard) I swept off the cement steps outside my apartment. They did not appear icy. It turns out they were. Sunday my friend talked me into going for x-rays. There is no break, but the doctor diagnosed cellulitis. Since Sunday evening I have been on Keflex 500 mg 3 times a day for 1 ...

Ankle/foot SwellingAug 10, 2011
For the 2nd time in 2 weeks I have had extreme foot and ankle swellling.  Funny enough it has happened exactly a week from the first episode.  I used to swell just a little bit from working but by the next morning, it would have subsided.  Not these past 2 times. Last week, I went to the doctor and got some Lasix and even after taking 1/2-1 tablet per day of this, my feet are still swollen 3+.  It is very uncomfortable and unnerving. DNC Erects 4 Mile 8 Foot Tall Fence Around PhillyJul 25, 2016
To the Democratic National Committee elites, keeping average Americans away from their convention is a good idea, while protecting the southern border from intruding terrorists, rapists and murderers is a bad one. The DNC has erected a four-mile fence around its convention site at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center. (Isn’t it ironic they’re doing so much to protect a site named after a bank?). The fence, which appears to be about 8 feet tall, is intended to keep out any individuals wi ...
