If the shoe was on the other foot

Posted: Mar 20, 2010

What would you have said if Rep. Boehner (and/or other top officials in the republican party) called the Mary Landrieu into a closed door meeting and gave her $300 million to not vote for the bill.

Or if they called Rep. Kucinich in behind closed doors and offered him a deal to not vote for the health bill.

Or any of the other people that were going to vote for the bill came out of closed door meetings and were given money (sweetheart deals) for their states, and then they changed their vote to no.

Okay, so you are fine that they were given money to ensure they would vote for it, but what would you say if it was the other way and the republicans gave all those people millions and deals to not vote for the bill.  You would be screaming and shouting.  You would be showing the same frustration that a lot of people on this board are showing at the absolute out of control corruptness that is going on to buy votes.

What if 80% of the country were screaming to vote for the bill, but there were republican in control and they voted against it?  Again you would be screaming and shouting and calling the politicians corrupt.

So why is it with 80% and higher in the country are saying no to the bill you are okay with congress going against what the country wants.  If a republican controlled congress said it doesn't matter whether or not we have enough votes we're going to pass it anyway.  You'd be calling them dictators and socialists.  But you are okay with the democratic congress doing it.

So you think every company in America is greedy.  But there are many that are not.  Why not try to fix the problem of the “known” greedy companies and leave the other companies that are making a decent living, giving people jobs, and being honest and not taking huge bonuses alone.

You may not want to believe this and you may think the hcb will solve all of America’s problems but it won’t.  First, we’re all going to be taxed to cover this, yet none of us will benefit from it for another four years.   Our taxes are going to go up to cover it, as are our premiums.

Tim Cahill, the Treasurer of Massachusetts, said that according to Axelrod, this health bill has been treasured after Massachusetts health insurance mandate of 2009.  Treasurer Cahill said that if President Obama and the Democrats repeat those mistakes of the health insurance (of Mass) the country will be bankrupt in four years.  He said “If the government does what Mass has done this will bankrupt the nation, because there is no system in place.  Nothing has been changed about how we deliver health care, how we pay for health care.  All we are doing is increasing access to people who don’t have health care right now, and that simply is unsustainable financially”.

I don’t think a lot of people realize what exactly that means.  If America goes bankrupt:

1.  The stock markets will crash and credit will seize.

2.  All financial institutions will fail.

3.  All government funded programs will end (Medicaid, defense, police, education, infrastructure support like utilities, disability, welfare, government services, etc).

4.  Businesses will close and jobs will be lost.

5.  There will be mass riots (and no police to stop the riots or fire fighters to put out the fires).  Take a look at what is happening in Greece – and they thought it would never happen there.

6.  Food will become scare, and when people are starving what do you think they will do?

7. The rich will buy the country and turn it into a dictatorship.

It’s not a very pretty picture, but it’s reality.  If people thought the depression was bad, that was nothing compared to what is in store for us in the future.  And you are okay with the country going bankrupt just so long as some people get free health care.  This is not “fear mongering”, this is just plain and simple.  Just research it for yourselves.  Look at all the countries around the world that have gone bankrupt and what they are going through.  They never thought it would happen in their country.  And also remember, we never in our wildest dreams thought American would be attacked on 9-11.  If you don't think it could happen then you are not living in reality.  That's a pretty hefty price to pay.

No matter what anyone says on this board is not going to make a bit of difference.  It will either pass or fail whether or not we want it.  People can call others stupid, idiots, dimwits, etc, if it makes them feel good, but it won't change the vote this weekend.  All I say is whatever happens I hope it is for the best.  If it is not for the best then I hope it will change come November when we have a change in party in the congress/senate.

Swollen Foot From Foot PedalMay 29, 2010
Recnetly I have noticed that towards the end of my shift, my footpedal foot gets swollen.  It does not hurt, but if I continue working for a few hours after it starts to swelll, it does get pretty uncomfortable.  The swelling takes a few hours to go back down after I quit working and put my feet up.  I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and what they did about it. ...

Shoe Shopping DilemmaFeb 05, 2012
About a month ago, I stopped at a shoe store I don't normally frequent.  I happened upon a pair of shoes that were very comfortable and stylish.  They were $100.  This was the most I ever paid for a pair of shoes, but after wearing the ones I walked out with for a week, I had no regrets.  I bought that pair and also ordered another pair in standard black (the store didn't have my size in stock).  The store said it would take about 2 weeks and they would ship di ...

Can Anyone Recommend A Good Shoe?Aug 29, 2015
I have plantar fasciitis as well as extremely dry skin on my feet. I need to apply lotion to my feet daily and wear socks at all times when up and about in order to prevent cracking of the plantar aspects. I bought some arch supports from the Good Feet store several years ago, but they did not help me whatsoever. I was looking at SAS shoes, but they are so expensive. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to manufacturer and type of shoe? It seems I do best with a soft supportive insole ...

Cellulitis Of FootMar 10, 2015
Early Friday morning (day after a blizzard) I swept off the cement steps outside my apartment. They did not appear icy. It turns out they were. I fell down all 4 steps and since Friday have had bad swelling of the foot and ankle. There is also an abrasion on the top of my foot where the cement steps tore away skin. Sunday my friend talked me into going for x-rays. There is no break, but the doctor diagnosed cellulitis. Since Sunday evening I have been on Keflex 500 mg 3 times a day for 1 ...

Ankle/foot SwellingAug 10, 2011
For the 2nd time in 2 weeks I have had extreme foot and ankle swellling.  Funny enough it has happened exactly a week from the first episode.  I used to swell just a little bit from working but by the next morning, it would have subsided.  Not these past 2 times. Last week, I went to the doctor and got some Lasix and even after taking 1/2-1 tablet per day of this, my feet are still swollen 3+.  It is very uncomfortable and unnerving. Should I go back to the doctor or put my f ...

Sore Ball Of FootSep 28, 2012
The foot I use on the foot pedal is slightly swollen and the ball of the foot is so sore I'm limping. It helps to wear shoes with padding. Larger Muscle On Top Of Foot From Work? SmNov 19, 2015
The muscle on top of my right foot is enlarged.  I had thought for years that it was from years of doing transcription.   I transcribed 15 years and have been doing another type of job for two years, but the muscle is still enlarged. DNC Erects 4 Mile 8 Foot Tall Fence Around PhillyJul 25, 2016
To the Democratic National Committee elites, keeping average Americans away from their convention is a good idea, while protecting the southern border from intruding terrorists, rapists and murderers is a bad one. The DNC has erected a four-mile fence around its convention site at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center. (Isn’t it ironic they’re doing so much to protect a site named after a bank?). The fence, which appears to be about 8 feet tall, is intended to keep out any individuals wi ...
