Stiff joints. Sometimes painful, sometimes not.

Posted: Apr 15, 2012

I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem.  Sometimes my finger joints, knees, wrists, and ankles get so stiff that I cannot move them unless I pop them.  Sometimes they hurt extremely bad until I pop them, sometimes no pain, and sometimes they just won't pop.  This is something that I have been dealing with for as long as I can remember, so it isn't something that has been caused by the sitting from doing MT or anything like that.  I have had one doctor to tell me that becuase there isn't pain all the time that the issue is benign.  I have also had another doctor to tell me that it may be a sign of arthritis because of the stiffness that I experience and actually not being able to move the body part until the joint pops.  He recommended that I start taking glucosamine chondroitin, keep an eye on the pain, and if it gets worse I should have it thoroughly evaluated.

If it is "arthur" then apple cider vinegar - just a tablespoon in water with a little honey - helps me. Makes the swelling and pain go away. Has to be the real cider vinegar tho, not the white stuff. Sorry for you - not a happy place to be.

I will try that. :) Thank you! nm - anon

Prolozone Therapy For JointsJan 16, 2016
Has anyone had Prolozone therapy for joint pain/arthritis/other? Do you know of anyone who has? Any info would be helpful. I have searched and searched and find a lot of positive reviews but no negatives and find this kind of interesting and hopeful. I'm considering this treatment in lieu of surgery and would appreciate any info you might have so I can make a more educated decision. Thanks so much. ...

Cracking Joints - Silly ThoughtJan 02, 2010
I've had no work so far this morning, so I'm bugging you guys.  You know when a doctor dictates "the patient has crepitus" in such and such joint? Pretty much all my joints have crepitus and I've had it almost all my life.  How will they know if it's an abnormal finding or not?  LOL.        ...

Stiff Neck - SmJan 27, 2010
Have had a stiff neck for 3 days. Started on the right side, now on both sides. Hurts to turn in either direction. Tried heat, rubs, ibuprofen, but as soon as the ibuprofen starts to wear off it returns. Last night I sat up in a recliner and without moving my neck, my right neck up to my ear and down to my collar bone hurt. This morning it is just on both sides. I am going to take a few more ibuprofens, lay down, and then will check back here later. No fevers, no chills, no trauma, do not ...

! ObamaCare's Stiff PenaltiesMar 22, 2010
WOW, HAVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE BEEN HAD!! According to the CBO (Congressional Budget Office) estimates, ObamaCare policy will cost approximately $12,000 to $15,000 per year for a family and about $4500 to $5000 per year for a single person.  (posted that one yesterday, including link)  This is an INCREASE BTW over what most people pay currently.  If you purchase a policy in good faith believing that it meets govt. requirements, if the govt. deems that it DOES NOT meet their requi ...

Painful MammogramNov 12, 2010
I had a mammogram a few days ago which was very painful.  The tech asked if I had a high caffeine intake, which unfortunately I do.  She said this can make the test more painful.  I saw on line that if you reduce or eliminate the caffeine intake about a week prior to the test it will help.  I must say it was painful enough to perhaps make me avoid going back next year.  It has been some years since I have had a mammography.  I am glad I went, but it was not a p ...

Painful Thumb And WristDec 12, 2011
About five weeks ago I was cleaning my chairs and sofa with a small Bissel cleaner, and really overdid it.  I have been diagnsed with de Quervain's tenosynovitis of the right wrist.   I tried anti-inflammatory medication which only worked for a day, then back to bad pain again.   My doctor started me on a course of prednisone, which I took for ten days to no avail.   I am scheduled for an appointment with a hand specialist.  I know they sometimes do s ...

Mastectomy/reconstruction - How Painful Is This?Feb 24, 2010
I'll be having a mastectomy with an immediate reconstruction soon.  Can anybody tell me how much pain I can expect?  I was back to work after my TVH in 3 days with almost no pain whatsoever, so I generally bounce back fast, and I'm young (42).  Of course I can ask the surgeon when I see him again, but if anybody can fill me in in the meantime, that would be great.  I want to be mentally prepared.        ...

Knee Swollen, Tight, PainfulOct 18, 2009
Have been having trouble with my knee since about spring of this year.  I had a knee scope ten years ago for some torn cartilage, and the knee did great for the ten years following, but flared up this past spring.  It gets a very tight and full feeling with a big bulge in the back of the knee, and I keep telling the doctor I believe it is a Baker's cyst, but he doesn't suggest anything for it.  He did tell me that is where the fluid goes because it has no place else to g ...
