Speaking about teeth again

I am the one that posted about the caps. The other thing I find interesting with my dentist and his digital x-rays is that for probably 12 years I have not had a cavity and I did get x-rays from my regular dentist that retired and also from a periodontist I went to but when I switched dentists a year or so ago I seem to always have something he finds. Not only the capping situation and pulling off caps and redoing them but also he redid a filling he said was leaking and now he finds this tiny little cavity that you can hardly see on the digital. I am wondering about these digital x-rays. Well, what can I say. Anyone else find this stuff with these digitals or know someone that works for a dentist that might think these things show a lot of things that are nothing really.

I went to a new dentist earlier this year to get a cleaning and have my metal fillings removed from when I was a kid. She took digital xrays, didn't seem to find much, took out 2 of the fillings, but didn't want to take out the 3rd. I had to insist it come out and she put a crown. Under the old fillng was an awful ugly cavity that will need a root canal eventually. If I hadn't insisted on the crown, never would have found it, so I don't know what good those digital xrays are. Maybe it's about who is reading them. A couple of years ago, I went to another and got an estimate for $2500 worth of work, never went back.

Yep, I dont get it. This fellow took in a partner and built a new building so that bothers me a bit because no one else mentioned all this stuff. Oh well, I dont know what I want to do actually. I know I wont start to disturb teeth that seem okay even though I realize they could go bad. I dont like redoing stuff that could cause more problems.

I agree completely. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I hadn't been to the dentist in upwards of 10 years. No problems, no pain. Brush and floss just fine. I knew I wanted to have the metal fillings out so saved some money and finally did it.

The lady dentist who did the crown with the cavity underneath told me I didn't need the root canal until I started to have serious pain. I have no pain at all right now and I am happy with the work she did. Wish you luck in finding a good one too!

this is the second time this has happened to me. Something gets stuck in my teeth (once it was a piece of dental floss, this time a piece of meat). I saw how may coffee lovers we have on this board below, and I am certainly one of them, but I just can't stand how brown my teeth turn when I drink it. Any tips to keep this from happening? Okay, weird question, but I'm wondering if your teeth shift around after a certain age (I'm 53). The reason is this. About 4 months or so ago I had a tooth that broke in half. It is one that has a filling. Went to the dentist and it cannot be repaired. It needs to be extracted and then I would get a bridge or partial.
