My 24-year-old daughter started breaking out in a rash yesterday. At first she thought maybe it was a heat rash, but then overnight she started to feel a little feverish. This morning she woke up and the rash was tripled in amount of bumps and all over her body. Plus she has been dizzy and very nauseated. She went to urgent care and they told her that it was an allergic reaction to shrimp she had eaten. They just gave her a shot of prednisone and some Benadryl. She has always loved shrimp and has eaten it all her life with no problems.
My question, though, is this: She had 1 bite of shrimp on Sunday evening. If this was truly an allergy wouldn't she have started with the symptoms immediately? Would it take 2 days for the symptoms to appear?
