Pool exercise/aerobics...SM

Posted: Sep 5, 2014

I've joined a very reasonably priced health club in town ($25 per month) and have been going 2-3 times a week for 1 hour.  I'm about 5 weeks into it, and I'm already seeing positive results.  My upper body, arms/shoulders, already feel better; and a mild sciatic pain on the right has disappeared.  Also, my mood is better and I feel stronger and  more energetic.  I'd urge anyone who has such a program nearby which is affordable to try it.  I finally made the plunge (pun intended), and I'm so happy I did. ;

Pool exercise is WONDERFUL for so many people! - ETOHPRN

I briefly went to the local Y to try their gym out and they had a VERY popular pool program. They have 2 pools--1 at regular temperature and 1 kept especially warm, specifically for babies/kids programs and for people with arthritis/joint replacements.

Those joint exercise pool programs were so popular they had a waiting list at the time! I watched a few of them and there were people of all shapes and sizes, all ages, and they were having a BLAST! What a wonderful sense of camaraderie and support they all had for each other.

I would highly recommend checking it out if there is one near you and to anyone on the fence about it, just try 1 class and see!

I'm so glad it has been successful for you too! Definitely helps the body and spirit :)

I want to do this - My 2 cents

My knees are shot after years of high impact aerobics and I think water aerobics would be good for me. It is offered through our YMCA and we have access to 2 pools, need to find out if they have evening classes.

the price is right. I get the senior discount. Most water aerobics where I live (including the Y) usually have morning/day classes and are geared toward seniors. My friend refers to us as the Medicare Mermaids. We have M-W-F and Saturday classes, and there is 1 pool Zumba class at 6 p.m. which I can't go to because I work 12-9. I can also use all the fitness equipment on non-pool days, but I've yet to make an appointment with a trainer for an orientation. I may start doing some weight machines on my non-pool days this winter. Check out any facility near you that has a pool and classes and also check out the prices as they vary. I find that the "Y" tends to be rather expensive, in my city anyway. There's also a community college near me that has morning pool aerobics 2 days a week, and all they ask for is a donation, whatever you can afford. I've never been a big fan of gyms, but I really enjoy this pool thing immensely.

Pool Exercise - Work out too

Good for you, but if you cannot find a reasonably priced gym in your area, then by all means just get out and walk or ride a bike or anything that gets you moving. Someone once said, don't join a gym, buy a dog! I get Silver Sneakers and go to every gym I can whenever there is a class that I want to go to. I totally agree that exercise is the best medicine around. Keep it up.

Chloroform IS Found In Swimming Pool Water.Jul 03, 2011
Check this out. Found it on Wikipedia. Chloroform was discovered by three researchers independently of one another. Chloroform was reported in 1831 by the French chemist Eugène Soubeiran, who prepared it from acetone (2-propanone) as well as ethanol through the action of chlorine bleach powder (calcium hypochlorite). Calcium hypochlorite is a yellow white solid which has a strong smell of chlorine. Calcium hypochlorite is used for the disinfection of drinking water or swi ...

I just wanted to share, since people are always talking about trying to lose weight or exercise.  I wanted to firm up my tummy so I bought the Gold's Gym Ab Wheel, cost was $7.99 at my local Wal-Mart.  This little inexpensive thing is a WONDERFUL workout tool!  It has not only firmed my abs/sides but it works your shoulders and back and arms.  You know the flab we get in the front of our arms/shoulders that is annoying with tank tops as we get older?  Mine is all fi ...

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Thursday made his first public media appearance since an exercise mishap left him with a severely injured eye and four broken ribs. Reid had been working out with resistance bands in his new home earlier this month when one snapped, injuring his right eye and flinging him into a file cabinet, he said. The Nevada Democrat said he expected to be back to full speed soon, and that he planned to run for re-election. But while he was certain about his el ...
