Ever have twitches for no apparent reason?

I started doing that several years ago, my fingers twitch and I have twitches in my legs and eyelids, too. Told my doctor about it several years ago and asked him about MS, he said it sounded more like ALS (scared the crap out of me) but he wasn't concerned about it and I'm fine I just twitch a lot.

I have had twitches at various places on my body over the past few years. However, in the past 3 months, I've been having a lot of eyelid twitching of my left eye only.

I was mildly concerned. After I read what your doctor said about ALS, though, I got pretty scared, too. My mother died of ALS 4 years ago. She had been diagnosed less than 1 year earlier. I had done a little research about ALS and heredity, and 10% of patients with ALS have a family member with ALS.

I guess we'll have to watch and wait?

Mine was long enough ago that if it was ALS I would be gone by now. I have no family hx of it and I was terrified, I can't imagine how you must feel. I'm more worried about stomach cancer, my grandfather died of it and I had a stomach polyp a few years ago. I love to eat and can't imagine what it would be like not to be able to anymore.

Before you panic, check the meds you're on. All doctors are not familiar with every side effect of every medication. Or ask your pharmacist and describe the twitching. Some medications can cause muscle twitching (and granted if left unchecked can become permanent with some meds). Even if it's not a common side effect, some people are more sensitive to certain drugs and may have some of the less common side effects.

I recently went to a cardiologist and was put on a Holter monitor. Yes I'm having benign PVCs but harmless. However, my pharmacist told me that this side effect (skipped/hard heartbeats) to a certain med I was taking was a less common allergic reaction minus the rash that would normally accompany it. I'm not in the process of being tapered off this med and beginning a different one. What a relief. I thought I was having a heart attack!!

I'm not really worried about it, as I've been having them for ages (probably close to 15 years) so they must be benign or something else would have developed before now. The eye twitching has gotten worse lately like the other poster's, but I need new glasses. I just wondered if anybody else ever had them.

Even growing up I remember my kindergarten teacher yelling at me to quit rolling my eyes at her or to quit mocking her when it would be my eyelids twitching. She would yell at me to sit still when I would have the spasms in my back or legs and have to change positions to help the spasms calm down. It has been very painful at times. I've just never been able to afford to go to the doctor to have it checked out. Nobody wants to take a self-pay patient.

I have been to physicians, neurologists, and the like for the twitches in my face. They have been on 1 side and the other. Had botox 1 time, the only thing that did was to cause 1 side of my face to droop, not a good thing. Hubby is telling me that calcium and magnesium would be a good thing.
