I stopped answering my phone years ago, because I was tired of the sales calls and the collection bureaus calling trying to get in touch with anyone that has the same last name as I do. I have caller ID and I only pick up when I know who is on the other end. Well recently my sister called and said someone was going to be contacting me in regards to something to do with my mom's health. So I said fine. Figured I'd start picking up again until that was done. So...I picked up and someone asked for me. I said this is she and he told me his name and what company was from (my sister never did give me the name of the company), and he proceeded to tell me he was calling about an outstanding balance of over $400 to some credit card. I said you have the wrong number. His words were "No, you are --- and you have an outstanding balance on this credit card". I told him no I don't, I don't have a credit card with that name, and my name is very common and he has the wrong person", and I said it as rude as he was talking to me. He then proceeded to tell me, "No, you owe this money". I ended up hanging up on him. I was so ticked. Now I know why I don't answer the phone unless I know who is it. Going to tell my sister she better take the information because unless I know that name and number of who is going to call I'm not answering my phone. Don't these people realize there are other people out there with same names and when you have the name of Smith, Jones, etc (the common ones, chances are there are more than one person with that name). If I had thought of it I would have asked him where the charge was made to verify it wasn't me, and if he was nicer I would have explained that I know at least 4 other people with the same name as me. But he was rude so he got back that same rudeness. - Okay, just had to vent. That really bugged me.
