Question regarding baking pans

Posted: Mar 30, 2013

I found a recipe for a blueberry coffee cake.  The recipe is using a 9 x 13 pan baking at 350 for 40-45 mins.  If I want to use a Bundt pan, does anyone know how long I would bake it for?

Thanks,

I found this for you - anon

I am quite the baker, having done it for many years, and a bundt pan and baking pan are 2 different animals. Sounds a little scary to me--the thickness, roundness, everything--I personally would not attempt it UNLESS you do it as a trial first. I personally would lower the temp to 325 and bake an extra 10 minutes. Keep an eye on the top---I do believe the bundt pan will brown more than a baking pan. And do use the toothpick method as you would any cake.

Good luck!

Thank you both for your post - a little more info - Baker Bee, rather Wanna Be a Baker :-)

Guess I should change my moniker to wanna be a baker. LOL

I love to bake, but I don't get into very intricate recipes, just simple stuff (cookies, brownies, bundt pan cakes).

My husband is not into regular cakes, but will eat a slice of a bundt cake - no icing either - darn him :-) He does tell me, you can make icing if you want it and I'm thinking okay, just what I need, another 20 pounds. LOL

Anyway...sorry didn't mean to get side tracked. This cake is not for anything special, I'm just in the mood for something sweet and have not done shopping in a couple weeks and my cupboards are pretty bare. I do have a can of blueberry pie filling I want to use before it expires at the end of this year. I usually make this scrumptious Blueberry sour cream coffee cake (I'll post the recipe below if anyone is interested). It is the most moist, rich and sweet, but not too sweet cake. My husband told me I should open a business just making these for sale. :-) But I have no fresh or frozen blueberries, no butter, and no sour cream and I want something today and won't be going shopping til tomorrow, so I am looking for a recipe for a cake that will use oil and canned blueberry pie filling and came across this one. Sounds pretty easy so thought I'd try it.

Though to tell you the truth it's with blueberries and now that I'm thinking about this, I'm not sure how brown sugar and cinnamon will taste on a blueberry cake. Think I might keep looking.
Thanks for your suggestion and thank you anon for that link.

I think I'm going to keep searching around for a recipe that has a picture. I have a hard time knowing if something will be moist if I can't see a pic of it.

But here is that scrumptious blueberry sour cream cake I make a lot. I posted it before here awhile back. It calls for blueberry jam, but I use 2 cups of frozen blueberries and the cake is so thick the blueberries don't sink and every bite has lots of blueberries but not so much you can't taste the cake.

If anyone knows of a good recipe using blueberry pie filling and oil I'd love to know of one.

Here's the recipe for the one I love.

Thanks again.

When I read your post, I realized I did have sour cream I wanted to use up, as well as blueberries in the freezer. Only problem is that I don't have a bundt pan, just a tube pan. So I made it in that and it turned out only about 2 inches high! I wasn't impressed with the taste at first, but I put a lemon glaze on it and the next day it was delicious. I think it's one of those cakes that is actually better a day old.

Baking Christmas Gifts...Oct 19, 2009
At my husband's family get together last weekend, I realized that my husband's family is just too huge to keep buying individual Christmas presents (15 adults and 5 kids, not counting his dad and my parents) plus our 3 kids so I've decided to get nice containers like a hatbox and fill it with baked goods, spiced pecans and jar mixes for each family. So my questions are: What jar mixes do you like to give/receive? What baked goods do you like to give/receive? TIA ...

Help With Conversion Measurements For A Baking RecipeSep 17, 2015
I found a recipe for no bake chocolate oat bars, but I'm confused about the conversion rate they have.  (I'll post the recipe below).  They look good so wanted to give it a try. My question is this... Is .5 cups = 1/2 cup?  It says - .5 cup, packed (7.8 oz.) Brown Sugar.  When I looked up how many ounces in 1/2 cup the i-net has 1/2 cup = 4 oz.  When I looked up how many cups is 7.8 oz it says 7.8 oz = .975 c.  I've never heard of .975 cups.  S ...

I'm always facinated at some people who think all social problems and situations are so black and white.Abortion is here to stay, whether it's legal or not, just like it's always been an option when a woman finds herself facing the impossible situation of an unwanted pregnancy. Cat Question Aug 05, 2011
Don't know if you remember my last posts awhile back about a stray cat we started feeding and took care, gave her shelter for the winter and she had kittens.  We've taken the kittens in and adore them all.  Now...here she is 3 or 4 months later, every once in awhile I'll get a glimpse of her nursing them.  Vet told us milk has to be dried up before they can fix her.  However, she is a stray and she has been going out walking around the neighborhood like she has ...

QuestionMar 22, 2010
Okay, here is a question that I have not seen come up here.  While watching news today this just crossed my mind.  If the government sets an insurance rate you have to pay based upon what you make per year, do they take into account all your other bills, and that sometimes as ICs we don't get any work coming in at times, and then what they set is more than what you can afford (i.e. more money than your paycheck and you still have to pay all your bills).  As ICs I'm sure ...

E-Bay QuestionNov 19, 2013
Hi everyone, I absolutely love Swarovski Crystal, in particular their earrings. I have a couple of pairs that I paid full price for, but they are too expensive. (Earrings run from $60-$300+.) I saw that E-Bay has a really nice selection, and you can just do a Buy Now for way under market price--I'm not into the bidding thing, BTW. Thing is, how do I REALLY know it's Swarovski?
