Ferguson police chief news conference

The police officer who killed MB did not stop MB due to being a robbery suspect. He clearly, repeatedly, stated that this cop did not know there was a robbery, he only stopped him because he was walking down the street. Chief states his info is from St. Louis County Police Dept interview with police officer who did the shooting.

Sort of pulls the wind from the sails of that "big mean, strong arm robber," and feeling threatened because he is such a criminal.

Then the media asked why the video was released. The chief said the media had asked for it, so he gave it to them.

This STINKS!

Did these cops have cameras on or at least recording devices? The cameras on one of our cops convicted him of murder after he shot a man in the back of the head.

By releasing that video in an attempt to somehow justify killing that young man, which it did not, of course.

There are now just more questions he infuriatingly refuses to answer - why no picture of the police officer who shot the young man in the back?

He claimed the press were "asking for" the video, but hard to imagine since no one knew of its existence except them.

I see that video and it represents all that we all are afraid of (including African Americans according to a black man interviewed the second night of the protests), so was it really necessary to show that when the press conference was supposed to be just to release the name of the police officer who shot the young man?

Despite the video representing a strong-arm shoplifting, I still think there are questions even there. That could have been the owner of the store saying he hadn't paid and he had, there could have been any number of circumstances that led up to that, but we are fed that little bit and invited to draw obvious conclusions. Not good practice by a police chief.

Please, someone fire him, he is a hazard to the community he is supposed to be protecting. I wonder if his buddy Sean Hannity is advising him on how to incite racial riots and endear himself to the right.

One thing is certain, lawyers are certainly going to make a lot of money out of this, not even just including the wrongful death of the young man.

They had to aim tear gas at Al Jazeera America and try to stop them filming, with actual video of them actually going over to their cameras and pointing them downward?

They had to shoot rubber bullets, including one into a female pastor's stomach?

If nothing else, Ferguson is showing us how bad the militarization of the police has become and how they seem to think they are in Afghanistan or Iraq and behave that way, rather than involved in any way in the community.

Maybe an effort to distance himself from the "bad" cops. Maybe helps Ferguson in their civil rights law suit. And, IMO, (and only my opinion) they might just indict Darren Wilson after all. The police chief was killed in January of this year but the story just came out yesterday.
