Was buying a gift last week online... either Amazon or eBay, I forget.
An ad for a *free sample* of "Dermitage Advanced Skin Renewal" system comes up, disguised as an offer from the website.
"Just pay $3.97 for shipping", and supposedly you get a free trial size of this anti-aging skincare product.
So, I bite. I figure, $3.97 isn't much; it'll be fun to try out this product.
Dermitage package arrives today. The invoice still says "14-day free trial", BUT, if you don't call their toll-free number WITHIN the 14 days to opt out, and to get a special code so you can return the product, you will then be billed for it. ($89.95! Who on earth would pay this for stupid skincare products?)
I'm sure they're banking on lots of busy, stressed-out people thinking this is a great *trial offer*, that re too busy or distracted to send the stuff back.
They *claim* you can use it, and if not satisfied, return the unused portion to them (no refund for the postage both ways, BTW). No thanks, they're not only getting the entire, UNOPENED bottles of Dermitage back, but seeing as how I don't particularly care for the way these snakeoil salesmen mispresent their *free* offer, I'll NEVER buy a Dermitage product, and will pass this info. along to warn others.
Man, you just can't let your guard down for even a second anymore, especially during the holidays.
