I watched the interview with Mr. Cruz about running for president. He said since his mother was a US citizen then he automatically is an American citizen.

One of my husband's employees was born in South Africa, his father was in the military but he was born an American Citizen. To get a birth certificate he had to go to the Veterans Administration and they sent him his birth certificate. So I just wonder if that is true for everyone or just someone who is in the military? If one of your parents, born in the US, has a child in another country would that child automatically be an American citizen?

So if Obama was born in Africa then why all he hoopla? His mother was an American citizen, so he is an American citizen.

This is standard stuff. Just imagine if citizenship was so unimportant and frivolous that it could be lost by a mother going into premature labor during a day trip over the border to Toronto?

My grandchildren were born on U.S. soil of a Danish mother and American father and are full citizens of both countries. As adults, they will have to choose which one to keep.

Pretty simple and extremely well established in law. I wouldn't bother to argue with those who insist otherwise. They'll believe just the opposite when that suits them too. FT

Constitution requires both president's parents be citizens and that the president be born on American soil. We really don't know where Obama was born, he has not produced a valid birth certificate, but even if he was born in Hawaii as he now says he was (although he used to say he was born in Kenya) his father was never a US citizen, and obama is not natural born, at best he is native born, possibly, but if he was adopted by his Indonesian stepfather, and evidence suggests he was as he could not have been enrolled in an Indonesian school otherwise, then IF he reclaimed his citizenship (if he had it in the first place) at the age of 18, then he would be a naturalized citizen.

From me, again, although the son, raised in a very strong fundamentalist Christian home, has made statements that he believes the Constitution was written to protect the rights God gave us, I have found no quotes on line specifically showing his agreement with the many (including his father) who believe our government must and will be replaced with a Christian theocracy.

And, given everything, believe me, I have looked for stronger evidence than just appallingly strong links through dad and many others in his life linking him to these treasonous activities.

Note, though, that just last July Ted Cruz was blessed and anointed by prominent dominionist pastors as a "king," which his father defines (in a video searchable on line) as a warrior chosen by God to establish His dominion on earth.

Without evidence of collusion, Ted himself can't be blamed for the actions of these people. However, if his intent were to work to destabilize the United States government while at the same time building his own following, his use of power to force a government "shutdown" that couldn't possibly achieve its stated goals might actually make sense. After all, both of those things were achieved.

I posted a few days ago on the Health Board. I had a very bad fall down icy cement steps last Friday. My ankle was terribly swollen, and I have a bad abrasion on the top of my foot. Later I posted, saying things were looking better. Today the condition seems worse again. The top of my foot is red and very warm. I have been on antibiotics since last Sunday.
