Does anyone have a home security system

Posted: Oct 7, 2013

We are looking at maybe getting a home security system.  Not that we have anything worth taking (except our lives), but we live in an area where more and more crime and home invasions are going on.  I heard my neighbor screaming for her life, she turned on the back light and there was someone getting ready to break into her house.  Police said more drug seekers are breaking into people's homes and in the paper crimes/particularly home invasions are on the rise.  So we were thinking about a company and I wonder if anyone has a system, do you like it and what is the monthly cost.  I have an add for installation and set up for a low price, but wonder what the monthly cost was.

Not a home security system, but I like - motion-detected lights outside.

I always thought that was a great idea. I don't have any or anything like that--I just think there'd be nothing scarier to a home invader than having the lights all the sudden come on and exposing him.

We have the ADT home security system. We started it during a promotion so set up was free, and we pay $37.00/month for the service. We are very pleased with it.

I had ADT, too, free installation, 35 monthly, liked it. - FIGMO

Nothing ever gets done - all that ever happens on Capital Hill is the Dems and the Pubs fight, and try to derail each other's ideas, bills, etc.  There has just got to be a better way.  The elections need an overhaul, as well.  No sooner are politicians elected to office (in EITHER party!), than they're already campaigning for re-election.  Or for more of their party's seats in Congress.  Etc. etc.  No bill that is enacted ever stays up for long, it&# ...

Anyone Ever Tried That Hair Removal System No No?Jul 29, 2013
I believe it's called the No No???  It is a hair removal system that supposedly you can use for legs, underarms, and EVERYTHING.  Was wondering if anyone had used it and if it works and how long you are hair-free.  I did notice it had a buffing pad with it and I did try a removal system once where you basically and your legs down with what felt like sand paper to remove the hair, but it was VERY time consuming and I would just prefer a quick shave every couple of days as oppo ...

Fraud In Health Care SystemMar 13, 2010
It is estimated that there is at least 100 billion dollars health care fraud annually.  There are truly needy people and they should be helped.  But there are also many people who don't have health insurance because they just do not want to pay premiums, use their money for other things instead, when they could pay and are able to pay.  This is just not right and this needs to be stopped, and that should make a dent in health care costs.  Why not go after the health care ...

Public School System CutbacksMay 11, 2010

The Myths Of The Single Payer SystemOct 26, 2013
For all the people who want a socialized health care system (i.e. single payer system), it's not what you think it is.  This is written by someone who has been working in the field for years and understands it.  There are also people in other countries in this type of health care system that cross referencing verfies the accurancy of this information. Myth No. 1: Everyone has access to health care a single-payer system. Everyone in a single-payer system has health insurance, not ...

At 96,000 residents, Dearborn is much smaller than the other cities in the top five, suggesting that its significant Muslim population—40 percent of its population is of Arab descent, according to the U.S. Census Bureau—has been disproportionately targeted for watchlisting. Residents and civil ...

Are We Going To Keep Social Security Or Abandon It?Sep 22, 2012
Social Security is a progressive entitlement program created by Republicans and Democrats working together. Those conservatives ideologically opposed have always tried to get rid of it, but voters wouldn't let them because it has always served its purpose of protecting us from the possibility of destitution when we're too old to work.  Now their tactic of destroying it by delaying necessary adjustments has successfully brought Social Security to the point of failure. Like a home ...

Question About Soc. Security & MedicareDec 16, 2016
To those of you who are single, receiving Social Security and Medicare, do these numbers seem too high to you?  The amount taken out of my monthly social security check for Medicare is $140.  The amount taken out monthly for Part B insurance is $73, and for drug plan is $21 (total of $94 a month).  So each month $234 dollars are being taken out of my social security check to pay for health care.  Does this seem excessively high to you, or is this a normal-sounding amount? ...

Question: Why Do You Think Americans Are (generally) Willing To Accept A Two-party System?Jul 29, 2013
Here's the reason for my question:  The two-party system is, and has been corrupt for a long time. In a country where you can have a choice of about 35 different types of salad dressing but only two viable choices for the highest office in the land, I just find it is stunning that Americans are willing to stand for this. Answer how you will, but I am hoping the discussion goes past slamming any one president or party and more towards how we as a nation have largely been manipulated in ...
