I don't know what made me think of this but when my sister and I were little, about 4 and 6, Romper Room came to town and we were both on it. Remember how at the end of the show they used to drop the flowers on the kids? I remember being disappointed at how faked they looked when the show was live. They appeared so real on TV. I had such a great time anyway, though.
Anyway, my sister had a pretty bad lisp when she was little and eventually had to undergo speech therapy. While she was on, the host was asking us about our pets. We always had one outdoor cat or another (Lord forbid we have an indoor animal and my dad find a pet hair!!!!! It's sad - he doesn't visit me because of my dogs. I always have to make the hour trip to see him). Anyway, the cat's name was Axle because he was forever lying on the axle of the car. When it came time for my sister to telll the host what kind of animal she had, my sister told her she had a cat. When the host asked the cat's name, and with my sister's lisp, she said Axle but it came out as a cuss word, the first part like the word for your bum and the second part like something you dig in the ground with a shovel. The host said "Well, we'll call it something else for today. That host must have thought my dad hated that cat and called it cuss words all the time. We still laugh about that. Funny - I was on RR after my sister and I don't recall being asked about pets. LOL. The host probably thought that cat was so abused and hated when in fact we spoiled the heck out of it. :-)
