I don't see a problem with the app per se, but the issue is why he did without telling (or asking) you, and obviously why did he hide the icon.

What is odd is if he was trying to pull a fast one, then why would he have the account emails go to your email and not his?

So on one hand it seems fishy and on the other hand it seems somewhat innocent.

Maybe just play a bit dumb and ask him what this "Life360" welcome email is about and see how that plays out.
